Chapter 526: Chapter 357: Choice (Part 2)_2
"Your Excellency, what are you talking about?" The young girl looked at Malin with a bitter smile on her face, "Everything I just said is from the bottom of my heart. From the moment I was born, I received a good education. My father told me, when I was just old enough to understand, that as his eldest daughter, I was destined to become a princess used as a tool for political marriage. But even if his daughter was to become a tool, she should have her own talents, for only then could she win her husband’s favor. In this world, there is no love, only lonely souls clinging together for warmth. If a woman cannot defend her home, then she has no reason to exist. This world has no need for the weak."
At this point, the princess furrowed her brow, "Now, my father’s teachings have become reality to me. Thus, I have no regrets for doing everything I can for my family. However, my status forces me to choose a powerful man as my husband. But still, I wonder, if he could be a little younger, a little more handsome, that would be perfect... and you, you are my best choice. I can’t imagine the cost I’d have to pay for missing out on you... So, I am trying to gain your consent, even if it means being humble or... a bit more proactive."
"Your Highness, my path is to shatter the old world. Under my command, workers, farmers, everyone in this world with a conscience, will be those I protect and defend. I aim to create a world without nobility, a truly just world; a world not even the God of Justice has created; a world that would even make the Evil God feel fear! Do you understand what I mean, Your Highness? I intend to crush this entire old world, I am undermining your very foundations! I am destroying the soil that sustains your existence! For you, I am the herald of death, I am the bell of destruction, I am the end for all of you... I will put an end to your reign, for as long as ’forever’ may last, so will the end of your time." Malin said this angrily, glaring at the girl before him, "Now that you have heard all I have to say, do you still wish to be my bride?"
"Why not?" After hearing all this, a smile bloomed on the girl’s face, "Your Excellency, my father’s death was of unknown causes, and everyone says he was killed by Chaos’ assassins, but who knows to whom the hand that held the dagger truly belonged. So... everything you said, to me, it is the bell of revenge, the call to arms, the judgment... Mr. Malin, I beg you, pity me. You don’t even need to love me. Our marriage will be the most exquisite transaction, you are the Merchant, and I am the merchandise. We are the perfect match made by fate itself. For the sake of revenge, everything on this land, including myself, will be the hammer and anvil you need to smash this old world."
Malin sighed deeply, "Your Highness, you are forcing me to kill you. My cause does not need the ghosts of revenge; what I need are Mortals who aspire to save the world. You say you believe in the Sage Moriti, but you are betraying her with what you’ve just done!"
"Malin, why reject her?" A voice arose beside Malin.
Malin turned his head as if seeing the owner of the voice for the first time, with a look of bewilderment, and disbelief.
"Malin, you need everything she has to offer, something I cannot give you," said Faye, smiling at Malin.
"But you can give me the warmth she cannot. She would sell her soul for revenge!" Malin pointed at the girl in front of him.
"If I were in her shoes, I would do the same. I would use every means to round up those treacherous nobles, to hang them all; death would be the best gift I could give them... Princess Nova." Faye said this and reached out her hand toward the young girl before her.
"Princess Faye." The young girl smiled and extended her hand as well.
Malin reached out his hand to block the enthusiastic handshake between the two princesses.
"You are betraying me, you are betraying yourself, Faye," Malin said, slightly angry—How could his own girl be so... so unreasonable!
"No, I am merely betraying my title. I am a princess of the Sydney Union. After hearing all you have said, I didn’t go to inform my father or to warn my brothers; I have become your accomplice. Your grand ambition fascinates me, Malin. Do you understand how moved I was when you said you wanted to create a world that even the Evil God would fear? I apologize for my shallowness because I know that everything you just said is true. No one speaks such mad words without taking such risks."
With that, Faye pushed Malin’s hand aside, and the two princesses held hands.
"Let us say goodbye to the old world as we see it, sisters," Faye turned and said to the young ladies.
Matilda was the first to stand up, she rushed over and placed her hand on top of the others’, "Mr. Malin just said something very, very dangerous. I must keep an eye on him!" then, the Big-eared Fox glared at Malin.
Malin turned, blew a whistle, and continued petting the cub vigorously.
Clovis was the second to stand up. She also placed her hand on top of Matilda’s, "I’ll be watching you, Princess Farole, Mr. Malin’s cause cannot be desecrated. If you overstep your bounds, then I will surely kill you, even if you bear Mr. Malin’s offspring, you will not escape death."
Next was Lillim, the little lamb who placed her hand on top, and at the same time, looked toward the princess, "I’ve believed in Mr. Malin from the very beginning, and although I can’t beat you, I will help Clovis."
Then came Jessica, the wolf girl who walked over and put her hand down, "My fate completely changed after meeting Mr. Malin, I trust my choices, so no matter where Mr. Malin goes, I will follow him, and if anyone betrays Mr. Malin, I will definitely kill her because she has not only betrayed our sisterhood but a great Sage as well."
All the girls turned to look at Maya.
The Leopard Girl, busy stroking a little leopard, noticed their gaze and lifted her head to glance at everyone before standing up, "You’re questioning me."
"We are just waiting for you to make a choice," said Nova, who had recently joined, looking at Maya, "I heard you are Mr. Malin’s sister, you should have been the first to stand up."
So Maya came in front of Malin, the little Leopard Girl squeezed herself into Malin’s left side, and then curled up on Malin’s lap.
"Foolish humans," said the little leopard.
Malin stroked his sister.
...Today’s pace had a problem; he needed to slow down.
......
It was only after Princess Nova of Farole disembarked from the train that Malin truly began to converse with Faye.
"Faye, why do you sympathize with her?"
"Do you want me to reject a pitiful princess, who has only one person left in her family, and whose only difference in life is whom she marries? If she marries you, this land will become your paradise. The changes you’ve implemented in Carterburg will be chosen by the people of this land, and when you become the master of this land, only then will you have enough power to confront the old world before you," said Faye, with a trace of worry on her face. "Malin, my love, I don’t want you to become a pathetic fantasist. I like the words you speak. If the world needs change, why can’t it change for the better? I don’t want to lose you one day, so you must become stronger, you must truly become the master of this land, even if it means I have to share you with her, because I also long for the day when this world will no longer be invaded by Chaos, when every person will understand what they are fighting for. Malin, just like you’ve said before, let us sweep those ambitious people into the heap of rubbish known as history."
Malin was silent until Faye finished speaking, and finally, he nodded, "If we do this, perhaps history will describe us as villains and demon lords."
"You’ve said in your own novel, history is written by human hands, the holy word is spoken by human mouths. Since history is but a young girl dressed at will, why not dress her with our own hands?" Clovis said with a smile, "Let’s completely change this world together, Mr. Malin."
Malin nodded his head.
Yes, we will change this world together.
