Chapter 492: Chapter 331: Separation (Part 4)
Amun Liansen felt calm as he passed through the barrier of the Semi-Plane, for all of this would end today.
"Hoffman, did you think that by cooperating with the Undead and holding the ritual in the Semi-Plane of lost souls, you could escape your fate, allowing your sinful legacy to continue?!"
"No, I will stop you! I won’t let this sinful legacy continue! I will kill you and the Evil God within you!"
Conviction burned within him, and as he landed, a semi-grown child, wielding a massive Warhammer that completely mismatched his size, appeared before him.
It was the last Apprentice... Malin Gaiate.
Even in Subspace, Amun had heard this name.
Because he was the favored child of the Nameless.
How dare the old Hoffman steal such favor for his own use.
"Child, you’ve come to send me on my final journey."
The whisper from the soul startled Amun, then he saw a gaunt figure kneeling at the center of the Ritual Magic Circle behind Malin.
The figure lifted its head, and in its shrunken eye sockets, Crimson Soul Fire ignited with the opening of its eyelids.
"I am glad, Amun, at this moment, I finally understand how genuine was the joy on my mentor’s face when he saw my fellow disciples return."
The figure slowly stood up.
"Amun, my child, come, let me see how different the power you embrace is from the knowledge I have passed on."
The next second, Amun found himself in a Combat Arena.
Before him, Hoffman was undergoing a transformation, with unknown flesh filling his body, and black hair growing on his once-bare scalp.
"Child, what are you waiting for?"
The figure before him opened its mouth, and the Crimson Soul Fire in its eye sockets slowly condensed into eyeballs.
As the figure became gradually more familiar, Amun, too, began to laugh, his smile mad with joy.
"You have not been possessed by the shell of the Evil God! You are still Hoffman!"
"Of course, I am me, I have always been, I was before, I am now, and I will be in the future."
The young man before him then extended his hand and produced both a Longsword and a Revolver: "Look, child, two centuries ago, the sect’s mentors fought against Chaos with Longswords and crossbows, a century ago, they fought with Longswords and muzzle-loading Firearms, and today, I use better, more modern weapons... Come, my child, let me see your growth, let me see your power."
The next second, the two were locked in close combat, the Longsword clashing with the blade, sparking a great number of Mars, and Hoffman, passing by Amun, swung his Revolver without aiming and fired, the bullet tracing an arc through the air, ultimately caught between Amun’s thumb and forefinger.
"False external objects, how can they compete with the mighty Origin. Without you, I felt the reality of this world, this world of the survival of the fittest, it’s much more magnificent than the false beauty you created in the orphanage!"
Fleshy wings sprung from behind Amun, his face wrought with Chaos, a mad smile blooming: "It’s finally over! Hoffman! The despair and misfortune passed down by your sect will be completely ended today!"
"You see the sect’s doctrines and sacrifices as despair and misfortune, I understand you, because I loved you all too much..." Hoffman sighed, and the next second, as he appeared emotionless before Amun, swinging his Longsword, Amun, unable to block in time, had no choice but to retreat rapidly and attempt to deflect with his fleshy wings.
Then the flesh was cut directly by the wind pressure brought on by the Longsword.
Amun landed, his soul shaken as he looked at his mentor who had returned to his peak condition.
"I loved you too much, I was afraid of you getting hurt, I concealed all of this, while you, knowing just a bit of the surface, thought it was all mere hypocrisy, that I treated you as mere vessels... I am heartbroken, Amun, I thought you would understand, like Mason did."
"Mason believed in you until his death! Even when he was killed by that Malin Gaiate he still believed in you! And you just wanted him as a container!"
"You are nearly seventy years apart from Mason, did you ever think that you were not fit to be a container?" Hoffman said, pausing for a moment, he looked at his furious apprentice and shook his head: "You do not understand, and that’s why you fell to the whispers and temptations of Chaos, I feel pity for you, Amun, you were defeated by the fear in your heart, you and your conviction... are utterly unworthy."
In Amun’s eyes, the shadow of his mentor cast upon the ground had completely twisted.
"No! I must defeat you! To stop the ceremony! So no more children will be imprisoned by you and your sect!" Amun roared as he rose, swinging his sword at his mentor, but as expected, his mentor effortlessly parried his blow.
Then, with the same ease, he brushed aside Amun’s cross strike.
"You do not even know what the ceremony involves, yet you think to defeat me, foolish child... Come, see what happens next, you wanted the truth, I will give it to you." The next second, with a single light slash, his mentor sent Amun flying.
As he fell back, Amun saw his mentor laugh wildly, opening his arms as pitch-black wings unfolded behind him.
