Watching the pocket watch in his hand finally reach the direction of the full twelve, the young Baron of Silent Hill sighed, "Time’s up, let’s go."
"Your Excellency, are you sure you won’t wait a little longer?"
"No need to wait. I should be in Regensburg right now, having tea with those cunning nobles who wish to see me in hell, not in the northern woods of Carterburg searching for the ill fortune of a future prince." As he said this, the Baron laughed, turning his head with a charming smile to glance at his servant: "Stay here for five minutes, retrieve them, and then jump to the coordinates I gave you."
"Yes, Your Excellency." After answering, he looked up, and within the shadow of his hood, crimson Soul Fire was tumbling.
As his master passed through the teleportation door, His Excellency the Baron straightened his collar, tightened his somewhat loose tie, and, before stepping out of the alley, his shoes scraped the mud away with the help of a skeletal hand rising from the ground.
Then he walked out of the alleyway, and nobody took notice of his arrival. He passed by Liuying conducting business with laborers, walked past policemen wielding batons, and as he walked past a newspaper-selling boy, he took a paper and dropped a nickel.
He glanced at the newspaper—the high-ranking group of the Church of the Goddess of Harvest had unexpectedly eliminated the high-ranking group of the official Church.
Poor gentlemen, how many will be driven to extreme measures because of these losses?
Sighing, the Baron walked past the city gate, let a priest on horseback go by, slipped between two carriages parked at the roadside, and finally stopped in front of the club’s entrance, where a doorman pushed open the door for him.
"Welcome, Your Excellency the Baron," he said.
And the Baron in his mouth gave him a tip: "You helped me last time; this is your reward."
"Thank you, Your Excellency." The doorman was pushing the door, waiting for the man to enter.
The Baron in his eyes walked on the carpet, through the entrance hall, into the corridor, accepted a security pat-down in the special guests’ area, and went through the gap they parted, then slipped into the room opened just for him.
"Look, our guest is always so punctual." The middle-aged man sitting at the table opened his hands with satisfaction, taking a stack of Mowish from the young man on his left.
"Baron Kay, are men who have been to battle always so stubborn about time?" The woman on the right side of the middle-aged man fanned herself.
The Baron Kay addressed by her smiled, coming to her side, lifting her hand, and kissing it: "Yes, Countess, because on the battlefield, time is an extension of life."
Then he took his seat in his designated place, looking at his card partners: "Your Grace, what shall we play today?"
"No more Thanan’s fortress battle; that thing is really torturous for my head. Let’s play bridge instead." The middle-aged man narrowed his eyes as he spoke: "Baron Kay, where did those white snowflakes come from on your shoulder?"
"Ah... perhaps they accidentally brushed onto me while I was teaching children some magic tricks." As he said this, the young man extended his right hand, and in his palm, an ice flower was blooming: "Countess, this is your gift."
"Oh, our Baron is truly a real gentleman." The Countess laughed as she took the delicate flower.
The young man sighed: "My friend, you’re truly amazing. Your beautiful wife must have been captured just like this, right?"
"Yes, my friend, a man must do more with his mouth than just enjoy fine food." Having said that, he took the deck of cards thrown by His Grace the Duke, opening the box while looking at his new friend: "Let’s get down to business first."
"Of course, I must win it back today."
"Then it’s down to skill, kid." The recent winner laughed at his friend’s bold words.
The Baron sitting opposite was also laughing.
Everyone is an actor, with life as the stage, Fate as the music, each other as dancing partners, dancing to the end, resting only in death.
