Chapter 405: Section 269: Replay (Part 1)_2

Maiseer’s words softened the stern expression substantially on the face of the Archbishop of the Church of the Harvest Goddess—he had dealt with the Church of the War God all his life, to make them submit like this, they must have truly learned their lesson.

Compared to the musings of the Archbishop of the Church of the Harvest Goddess, Bishop Maiseer of the Church of the War God was on the verge of tears—Maiseer was such a nuisance that when Malin took him away, some voices within the Church even suggested it would be for the best if the mischievous brat died.

Moreover, this sentiment had considerable support.

Bishop Maiseer didn’t know what to do today—he still hadn’t decided whether to act as if nothing had happened if the boy died, or to seek vengeance against Malin.

It wasn’t that he was cowardly, but at his level, actions needed to be authorized by the Primate of the Church, otherwise, a private duel could escalate into full-blown sectarian conflict.

But now it seemed that Maiseer had turned over a new leaf, which made Bishop Maiseer very pleased, "Hearing you say this, I am already comforted, but Maiseer, your punishment will continue. You will be confined to solitary for half a month! Plus, you will have to compensate the injured and the families of the deceased for your actions with your earnings."

"Yes, Your Excellency, this is a piece of war loot I obtained on the battlefield, cleansed by His Grace Malin," the youngster said as he lifted the cloth, and an ancient longsword appeared before the eyes of the two elders.

"The Exterminator!" cried Bishop Maiseer in disbelief, "God! Is this truly your war loot?!"

"Yes, although His Grace Malin was a great help, I was the one who ultimately killed that agent of Chaos, I stabbed it to death with my bayonette," Maiseer said, somewhat embarrassed, "I didn’t want this sword, but I heard His Grace Malin say that it is a lost artifact of our Church of the War God... Yes, it is your lost artifact of the Church of the War God, the Exterminator, the exclusive weapon of the War God Church’s Saint Heir during the Third Era, but it disappeared in a battle along with the Saint Heir... I never imagined your Church would see the day when it’s reclaimed."

The Archbishop of the Church of the Harvest Goddess sighed as he patted Bishop Maiseer, who was still trembling with excitement, "Congratulations, Bishop Maiseer."

"No, it is we who are in debt to His Grace Malin," concluded Bishop Maiseer, as he patted Maiseer standing before him, "Child, let us go, it is time to offer our loyalty to our faith."

......

Malin stepped out of the competition venue and stood before the avenue that led directly to the arena.

"His Grace Malin." The Mowish family carriage and the elven butler quickly appeared before him, "Where are we headed?"

"To the villa, may I?" Malin asked with a smile.

The elven butler, who once had intentions against him, nodded with a smile, "No problem, Your Grace."

Seated in the carriage, Malin reflected on the past three days of battle—firstly, he realized he had slain Mason Wyman.

That filled him with regret—his fellow student could never have imagined that he would die by the hand of his own acolyte.

His second regret concerned that agent of Chaos; she was also Malin’s senior, but it seemed they had sided with Chaos, which was also a major reason for Mason Wyman’s death. Malin was perplexed as to why they would defect to Chaos, and why they would come... to force Mason Wyman.

Yes, Malin had also heard something about the old Hoffman leaving something for Mason to inherit. At the time, he thought it had nothing to do with him, so he didn’t pay much attention to it. Now, however, Malin felt a sense of crisis—for some reason, he instinctively sensed danger.

Damn it, he thought, had his curiosity been greater in the past, he wouldn’t be so in the dark now.

The carriage soon arrived at the villa. Just as Malin stepped out, he heard a surprise shout from the second floor that belonged to his sister.

Malin looked up and waved at the foolish Leopard Girl, "Have you been listening to your sister Faye lately?"

"I’ve been very obedient," Faye leaned out of the window, "You idiot, you know to come back."

"I encountered the Chaos Spirit Tide, the Teleportation Array was shut down for a few days, my dear, tell me, has anyone courted death?" Malin asked as he covered himself with the Spider Walk Technique, then walked onto the wall and made his way to the second floor.

"Nobody, everyone has been quite rational," Faye said, and leaning out, she wiped the face of Malin, who was clinging to the windowsill, "Blood, whose is it?"

"God knows who’s it was, right, this time the gifts aren’t so good, nothing but bones or some other sort of bone, I didn’t prepare them for you," Malin stopped talking because Faye placed her hand over Malin’s mouth.

"Having you come back safely is the best gift for us sisters," Faye finished and pulled Malin in through the window, "I’ve already asked the little ones to prepare your bath."

Then the girl hugged Malin, "How come you’ve shrunk another size?"

"Don’t mention that, it gives me a headache," Malin replied with a mix of sadness and anger — on the battlefield, no one cared how tall Malin was, everyone was only thinking about how to efficiently dispose of the enemy before them, it was quite equal in that way.

But now that he was home, his diminished height was immediately pinpointed by his own girl, which was really quite painful.

"It’s alright, even if Malin gets smaller, he’s still my favorite Malin," Faye said and hugged Malin.

Held in the girl’s arms, Malin felt the softness pressing against his face, and his mood immediately improved.

Right, even if his height had shrunk due to the active phase of his bloodline, wasn’t Lady Anna saying it could be reversed through spell formation?

Thinking this, Malin buried his face in Faye’s embrace, as if he was in paradise.

......

"I’ve heard my good-for-nothing son-in-law has returned, where is he?" Entering the abode’s hall, Goethe started to take off his coat and looked around the hall — his daughter and the little Cat Girl were not there, and considering Malin was back, he smiled at his butler.

"Taking a bath," the butler, Jason, replied with a smile.

"Hm... he indeed should take a bath, after rolling around on the battlefield for three days, he must look like a clay monkey," Goethe said and frowned, "Where’s my daughter?"

Just yesterday, when this weary old father had returned home, his dearest daughter had stood up, giving him a heartwarming hug... It was a hug that could revive a dying father’s heart.

But why was his daughter missing today, where had his adorable daughter gone?

"Taking a bath," Jason was still smiling.

Goethe was stunned for a moment, "Hold on, Jason, are you on repeat?"

"No, my lord, young master Malin is taking a bath, and Miss Faye along with Miss Maya are bathing as well," Jason answered with a smile.

Hearing this, Goethe turned his head just in time to see the three little ones walking out of the washroom in bathrobes.

His daughter was holding Malin’s hand and seemed extremely cheerful; such a sweet smile, the old father had never seen before!

In that moment, an old man’s heart turned to ashes.

In that same moment, he finally understood the meaning behind the words once said by His Grace the Duke.

The harm you cause me today, one day someone will make you taste the same!

The prophecy was fulfilled at that moment, history was repeating itself, Goethe watched as his daughter noticed her old father, saw her running towards him, and in the end, he could only smile and take her hand.

Just like some old father once took his daughter’s hand years ago.
