Chapter 401: Section 267: Facing Directly (Part 5)

"Foolish creature, to think he wouldn’t embrace the True God," Annam Lensen snorted disdainfully, not bothering to look at the woman lying in the pool of black blood but instead turning his gaze toward the redhead girl: "Go, kill that Archer who interrupted the ascension ritual."

"Why should I be the one to go?" the redhead girl huffed.

"Because he’s your type, or rather, I could send Haspi to do the job; he’s less picky than you are." The dark teleportation portal opened behind Annam Lensen, and he addressed the standing girl: "Tell me, Sara, which will it be?"

"Fine, I’ll take care of him. But what about her?" The redhead girl named Sara pointed at her companion on the ground.

"We have no use for foolish comrades, and the True God has even less need for stupid dogs." Anna narrowed her eyes at the redhead girl: "Complete my command, Sara, or you need not return."

Having said that, the chosen champion of the parrot god stepped into the teleportation portal.

Watching her companions retreat, the redhead girl turned around, raising her left hand before her, as a bayonette and its owner were frozen in place.

"Such a brave fellow, although a bit old..." She circled the bayonette, left hand caressing the battle-scarred rifle stock, then over the rough hands, and finally, her index finger touched the trembling young man’s lips.

The next second, the youth’s body turned to ash, and the girl pursed her lips slightly: "They said it was fulfilling, but the taste is really not good."

She spoke while stepping forward, entering the teleportation portal that had opened before her.

When the Dimensional Anchor began to shatter, Malin spat out the chewing gum in his mouth, which Fio caught, wrapped in paper, and tossed aside. The gum flew a short distance and then disappeared into the air.

Lorrin approached Malin’s side and transformed into a hammer, offering itself to Malin’s grip.

Melo came to Malin’s other side, taking the form of a kite shield, which displayed several rhomboid lenses arranged on its face.

As the Dimensional Anchor completely crumbled, Malin watched the redhead girl emerge from the activated teleportation portal: "I’ve seen you before."

Indeed, she appeared in the portraits along that hallway, an image of a lovely young girl with red hair, red lips, golden eyes, like a petite angel.

But all this existed only in Malin’s left eye. In his right eye, the redhead girl was only tufts of hair, her scalp and entire body covered with blood-red tattoos. Warped, deformed, everything about her no longer resembled a human; she completely lacked any sexual characteristics, her feet morphed into bird-like triple toes.

"Ah, a cute boy, what a treasure, Annam Lensen isn’t so bad after all," the redhead girl in the left eye sighed with a smile.

In the vision of the right eye, however, the warped creature of Chaos with different kind grinned, revealing a toothless maw.

"Sara Shiblin," Malin said with a smile: "I’ve seen your portrait in the hallway."

"You know my name, then you’re also an Apprentice of that false god! Great! Come! Embrace the True God with your sister."

In Malin’s left eye, the jovial smile of the redhead girl seemed genuine as she opened her arms, rushing towards him.

Through Malin’s right eye, the creature’s entire face split open to reveal terrifying, tooth-filled Chaos as its hands transformed into blades.

"No, you’re lying. Your True God is the most false of all." Malin raised his left hand holding the Shield, watching the approaching Chaos. In the next second, he pressed the wooden button in his hand.

Blinding sacred light burst from the shield’s rhomboid lenses, and as the Chaos screamed at the dazzling brightness, Malin swung the hammer in his hand, breaking the creature’s left arm. His left-hand Shield blocked a swipe from the right arm and deflected it.

As the Chaos’s mouthparts came at him, Bippo on Malin’s shoulder threw a glass vial into its mouth. Sharp teeth sliced the vial open, and the next second, Holy Water within ignited the head of the Chaos.

As it howled, Malin’s hammer broke its right arm, and with a turn, the World Tree Shield in his hands slapped over the creature’s mouth to muffle its cries, while the hammer struck at the creature’s left knee joint, shattering it instantly and sending the lower leg flying.

The unbalanced creature fell to the ground.

As Malin broke its other leg and released Lorrin, it and Fio transformed into a hook and hoisted the Chaos into the air.

"How dare you look at me with your soul perception." Malin glanced at her then turned away, the shield facing the newly opened rift: "Ails, if you come out like this again, I might just pull the trigger."

"You see, you just placed a tiny beacon in the shallow Subspace, and I already knew you were summoning me. Look, here I am." The bone Lich that crawled out of the crack held the chewing gum in one skeletal hand and looked at Malin’s prize: "A Chaos, oh, the parrot’s little wizard, how interesting. But speaking of her disguise, she’s quite cute; weren’t you tempted?"

The bone Lich, while running his mouth, squeezed out of the rift and waved at Bippo, who appeared curiously perched on Malin’s shoulder: "Oh, I didn’t notice this little cutie last time I came over."

Bippo blinked and, feeling a natural repulsion to the undead, signaled Ails to use Divine Command, upon which Ails promptly screeched and commenced its self-immolation.

The next second, Malin hit it with a Negative Energy Beam: "Bippo, he’s on our side."

"Oh my goodness, I shouldn’t have challenged it." As Ails repaired itself, it made an effort to stand a bit further away, until it saw Bippo retreat into the hood: "You didn’t summon me here today just to let me experience the joy of holy immolation, right?"

"Of course, its soul is yours," Malin said, then turned to look at the other side, where a portal was forming: "Do you know whose door that is?"

"The parrot’s puppy’s, do you need a hand with it?" Ails seemed eager to try.

"Only if you can forgive the accidental injury I caused you." Malin nodded with a smile.

"Then I’ll just take her soul and leave." Without another word, Ails claimed the soul of the half-dead creature of Chaos, and before stepping back into the rift, turned to Malin curiously: "Lord Malin, do you realize that you’re aiding the enemy?"

"I’m only fighting poison with poison," Malin responded with a smile to the bone Lich in front of him—Aware of the damage of Bippo’s Divine Command, under normal circumstances, the Lich should have died again the moment it got hit by the beam, rather than igniting itself and screeching.

Since it was already shifting allegiances, Malin had no reason not to give it a little push.

"Besides, traitors must die." After speaking, Malin turned to look at the portal, where a blond youth peeked out: "Sa...wait a minute, you’re not dead?"

"Yes, I’m not dead," Malin replied with a smile. In his left eye, this blond youth, much like the unlucky brother of an Apprentice, radiated an aura of sunshine and could be called quite the handsome man.

But through Malin’s right eye, this person was a lot uglier than the previous Miss Sara.

Most importantly... This one didn’t need to be censored.

"How come you parrot’s dogs have such big sacrifices, that’s pretty sad," Malin couldn’t help but say.

"You’re looking for trouble!" The person made a move as if to step out of the portal.

At that moment, a door made of branches rose from the ground, and a petite girl with ears almost like Malin’s pushed open the wooden door: "Hasby! I knew you’d be here." The girl’s face was filled with joy, and in her hand was a round stick bristling with nails.

The one called Hasby dived back into the portal without looking back.

"Ran away, how annoying," the girl huffed, then turned to Malin: "Little guy, well done, and how come you’re dealing with that annoying guy."

Malin turned to see Ails being pushed out of the rift, thoroughly tied up by several World Tree Saplings.

"This guy, I heard, had some contract with someone named Kakashi or something," Malin answered with a smile.

The girl looked puzzled, then at the contract the World Tree Sapling pulled out from Ails’ pelvis: "Oh, that one, this little fella is pretty interesting. Alright, since you have a contract, I’ll turn a blind eye as long as you don’t do evil." She signaled the World Tree Saplings to let go of Ails, smiled at Malin, and said: "Next time you see that Hasby, let me know, I need to crack his skull open and make him understand there are some places his kind is not allowed."

Malin nodded, watching her leave—he saw a divine light about her, the kind you respect from a distance.

Ails held its neck, seemingly still shaken: "Can you call me when it’s a bit safer next time?"

"No problem, but you’ve had a rare opportunity to earn, haven’t you?" Malin looked at him and said.

Ails sighed deeply: "It took the soul."

"So you made a wasted trip?" Malin asked, feeling a bit sorry for him.

"Not at all, she said she wouldn’t beat me up as long as I don’t commit evil," he replied and immediately opened a portal: "I’m heading to Mark City now, there’s a tavern run by Prairie Elves there, she’s sometimes there too, so I’ve always been afraid to go play there. Today, I’m going to kiss those cuties! Fantastic! I love them!"

Malin watched as he plunged headfirst into the portal.

...This guy really isn’t afraid of dying.

Malin shook his head with a sigh and whistled, prompting Fio to bring over Sara’s head.

Malin looked at the deformed head and finally ignited it with holy flames.
