Chapter 386: Chapter 256: Suppression (Part 2)_3

"Ails, it is indeed you. How could they have summoned you out?"

"Ah... Master Malin, concerning this, as you know, to increase my income, I sometimes intercept signals in the shallow layers of Subspace from those who have no idea whom they are summoning. Everyone does this; it’s just that this time, look, we have met, haven’t we?" Upon seeing Malin, the Lich immediately retracted his head back into the rift and then took out the brain of a Ghoul to use it to converse with everyone present, including Malin.

Malin smiled helplessly—did this fellow have some unpleasant memories of his bloodline? He wasn’t planning to kill him, so there was no need to be so cautious.

"You know each other?" The old Mage walked over to Malin’s side.

"He has a trade contract with my clan; he is currently working for my people." Malin said, looking toward the rift: "Ails, that fellow’s soul is yours now."

"What?!" This time, the owner of the white skull protruded from the rift, tossed the Ghoul’s head back into the rift behind him, and then pointed at the Chaos Priest, who still hadn’t come to his senses, and asked, "His soul is mine!?"

"Yes, he is yours now, remember to torment him well for me," Malin said, changing his posture to lean against the railing.

"You are making a deal with the devil, Sir Malin," The old Mage looked at Malin with caution on his face.

"I recall the Lord of Justice once said something good; he said that justice must show its cruel side to Chaos appropriately. Personally, I’m not fond of torturing someone, but that guy has obviously ceased being human. He and his companions have caused too much evil in this village. I think the gallows can no longer wash away such sins. Fortunately, Mr. Ails is here, so I think he can do this for me." Malin turned to the old Mage and continued, then turned his head to Ails, who had already emerged: "What do you say, Mr. Ails?"

"Praise the Lord of Justice, I completely agree with what he said. Please make sure to inform me whenever there is such an opportunity in the future. I will come as quickly as possible to fulfill your wish... Oh, my goodness, I am so happy to be able to help such a distinguished guest like you. You should also know that although the souls of Chaotic Believers have been marked, they aren’t easy to deal with. Their reach is not long enough in the Undead realm." With that, this gold-plated, white-boned Lich approached the priest. If possible, Malin thought Mr. Ails would surely be smiling like a career salesman who had been selling insurance for thirty years, his smile surely one that could warm the heart.

Unfortunately, he was not; Malin watched the soul of the Chaos Priest being pulled out, eventually transforming into a spherical black soul wailing in Ails’s hand.

"The transaction is complete, Mr. Ails, you may return safely now," Malin said, clapping his hands—not bad for an Undead; such things really came naturally to them.

"Of course, I’ve already sensed a Legendary presence locking on to me; my interference will last ten more seconds." Ails hurried over, stretched forth his bony hand to hold Malin’s, and ’kissed’ the ring on his finger, "Respected Master Malin, may you live a long life."

Having said this, he quickly ran back into the rift.

"Ten seconds," the young Mage muttered to himself as he looked at his pocket watch, everything he had witnessed utterly overturning his worldview.

No sooner had the rift closed than a teleportation portal was already being opened next to the old Mage; Lady Anna stepped out expressionlessly and quickly surveyed the scene: "Where is that guy?"

"He’s gone," the old Mage replied, and then reported everything that had happened to Lady Anna meticulously.

Malin leaned against the railing with an innocent look on his face.

Lady Anna frowned as she listened, "This skeletal Lich..." "He said he had a deal with my people," Malin pointed to his pointed ears as he spoke, "I think he must have been beaten up, otherwise with his temperament, he wouldn’t be so obedient. At the very least, he would have put up some resistance, right?"

Lady Anna laughed and patted Malin on the head, "The old man said you mentioned the Lord of Justice, and His Majesty didn’t come out with a sword to chop you down. This proves you’re still the most reliable sort. From now on, you should handle things this way, only then will people trust you’re still on their side."

Having said that, she turned around and shook hands with the old Mage, "This matter is of level-two confidentiality. You guys are responsible for erasing the soldiers’ memories, here’s something for your trouble." After Lady Anna finished speaking, she pulled out a small pouch and then entered the portal without looking back.

"Lady Anna really likes to make things complicated," the young Mage sighed, glancing at Malin, "You’re quite something. When I heard you mention the Lord of Justice just now, I was wondering when His Majesty was going to come over and behead you..." At this, he shrugged, "Now it seems he has acknowledged you, or else with His Majesty’s temperament, you would’ve been gone by now."

"It’s me, I have a good relationship with him, and he must be busy now." Considering the last time he called him, he and Terrifying Lord were happily slaying somewhere in one of the layers of hell, Malin thought that if it wasn’t too serious, he wouldn’t respond to Malin again anytime soon.

"Anyway, Mr. Malin is reliable, that’s enough," the female Mage said, glancing happily at the pouch her mentor had opened, "She truly is a generous lady."

"What is it, you look so happy," the young Mage came over to sneak a peek, then immediately showed a satisfied smile, "I take back what I said just now."

Malin straightened up at that moment, looking at the innocent-faced Baron and his big-headed soldiers, "Sorry, if there’s a fight coming up, I’ll try to leave more heads for you."

"That would be much appreciated. Honestly, if there were that many heads as trophies, we wouldn’t complain about clearing memories every day," the Baron said, then pointed at the body of the priest lying beside the altar, "Can we chop off this guy’s head?"

Malin gestured with an inviting hand, "He’s all yours."

Then he watched as the Baron personally took the knife and sliced off the head.

"What can that head be exchanged for?" Malin asked Raphael, turning to him with a smile – he was local and should know.

"When I left my homeland, such a head was worth at least a Knight’s territory; that was a Chaos Priest’s head," Raphael’s eyes held a fiery look, "I’m going to work hard to become a full-fledged Mage, so my little brother and sister won’t have to herd sheep anymore."

Hearing the sincerity in his words, Malin nodded, "Your dream will come true."

The determined people in this world always should get what they desire.
