Chapter 293: Section 205: Foreign Evil Guest (Part 2)_2

·It seems we have found a common tongue, friend.

The two Liches shook hands, their cold phalanges intertwining to form a sacred soul pact.

At that moment, the giant demon burst through the city gates, which caused Ails a bit of regret; after all, he held his fondest memories within this fortress, where he had spent wonderful times with a beautiful princess.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t fond of eternity.

With this thought, Ails turned to glance at a shadow in the corridor – a dark silhouette stood there.

·Dear, how much do you detest the sunlight.

He sighed as he watched the demon approach, smiling broadly.

·Morganstern Dam, have you taken on a new name again?

·I’m not Morganstern Dam, my name is Umbert!

Ails looked at his friend, who shrugged his shoulders, clearly indicating he couldn’t be blamed for this mix-up.

With no other choice, having made a soul pact with this one, Ails began to gather his troops – destroying the last bastion of this world wouldn’t take him much time, but unlike his friend, Ails favored the Elites, his Crown Lords, his Banshee troops, his Faithless warbands, each far surpassing the might of any under his colleagues’ command.

·You really do splurge on outfitting your pets.

Talm laughed, though it was more of a soul-shrieking sound.

Shaking his head, Ails glanced at the giant demon activating coordinates and then at his friend – ·I sense something wrong with these coordinates.

·What do you mean?

His old friend appeared puzzled.

·Do you remember that new world I told you about last time?

·Of course, friend, I remember you said it had Firearms, just like in Ayarock’s world. Are you suggesting this fool is going to take us there?

If Talm still had a face, Ails was certain it would have twisted grotesquely.

He nodded.

The silent but eloquent statement made Talm frown, and he reluctantly retracted his two best Banshees.

In the hands of white-boned Liches, souls were soldiers, weapons, and even currency.

If it weren’t for the abundance of currency in the living world, Ails would rather not follow this big dog everywhere, especially to such perilous worlds.

What’s more, Talm was unaware of what his good friend had seen in that world – a genuine Prairie Elf.

In other words, it was a mature world capable of accommodating Otherworld life, incredibly rich and extremely dangerous.

Ails reached out, his Banshees returning to their master with their sisters in tow.

The portal was opening, Talm seemed preoccupied with thoughts, and Ails instinctively bowed his head.

·May the Lord have mercy.

Then he followed his friend and the demon through the portal.

On the other side of the portal was a world so quiet, Ails glanced at the Great Cathedral in front of him; if the place hadn’t already been desecrated, he felt as if he would have died upon arriving.

Clearly, this wasn’t the demon’s doing – if it had that much wit, it wouldn’t be leading the way.

·Beautiful exotic world, I like this wall lamp, a magically charged Everlasting Lamp; it suggests we might acquire new knowledge.

Talm exclaimed, eagerly approaching the doorway.

The demon was faster, bursting through the hall’s walls, seemingly impatient to break free.

Ails ’smelled’ the scent of souls, freshly dissipated ones filling the city, leaving him puzzled and frustrated.

It’s like a rich man watching a whole cart of Gold Coins vanish before his eyes.

No one thinks they have too much money, the living and the undead alike.

But this also meant more souls awaited like grains in a field, ready for him, the harvester, to reap.

·Quite the world, Ails, look, sunlight, cities, possibly a recent plague, but the scent is too wonderful.

Talm stepped out, turning back to Ails with its soul jubilantly shouting.

Ails nodded, then slowed his steps – his abundant experience told him that maintaining a graceful pace could confuse his enemies, and perhaps even Death itself.

With this thought, gunfire rang out, and Ails watched as his old friend’s head shattered in an instant.

Firearms, marvelous! The world was indeed too wonderful! Brand new technology! Brand new knowledge! If only he could conquer this place! Ails was certain his legion would get a massive equipment upgrade, and with this knowledge, Ails could even establish his own workshops to produce these beautiful and dangerous weapons.

·Knowledge is power, my friend.

Raising a hand as his friend was hit repeatedly by Ray Spells, ultimately turning to ash, Ails took in the female banshees that rolled out from inside him. Freshly stripped of their soul marks, like newly minted coins, Ails joyfully stamped them with his own imprint while commanding his old friend’s Crown Lords and Skeleton troops to attack.

Compared to the Banshees, his friend’s Crown Lords were like hungry rebels, and his Skeleton troops... calling them fodder was an insult to the term itself.

After casting an Arrow Deflection, a Petrify Bones, and an Invisibility spell on himself, Ails finally stepped out of the hall. By then, the demon’s spawn had already clashed with the city’s Guardians, Ails watching as the Skeleton Archers drew their bows.
