Chapter 229: One hundred and seventy: Night Talk (2)_2
Maya reached out and rubbed Clovis’s ears, "We’re sisters, Clovis."
Jessica also nodded, "We are sisters, trusting each other."
Finally, as the leader, Faye clapped her hands, "Ladies, we should give up the space now, Mr. Malin still needs to take a bath."
......
So, donning their robes, the girls left in single file, passing through the corridor, walking past Malin who was reading a newspaper. Saya turned her head and gave Clovis a look that signalled ’I’m leaving it to you’, then she approached Malin, "Dear, it’s your turn to bathe."
"Okay, it looks like you’ve all had your baths." Malin looked up, smiled at the girls in their robes, and then noticed Maya, who had an unusually beautiful curly hairstyle that day: "Did you girls curl Maya’s hair?"
"Yes, it’s the latest trend in the Central Administrative Province, the curly wave. Maya has thick, natural hair, and I did it for her." Faye said with a smile, then patted Malin on the shoulder, "We sisters have decided to leave Clovis with you today."
After saying this, without giving Malin any chance to speak, the Miss of the Mowish family left with the remaining girls, leaving an embarrassingly silent Clovis with Malin.
Clovis stood there awkwardly until Malin put down his newspaper, then took her hand, "Alright, you rest in the living room, and after I’ve bathed, we can go relax." While saying this, Malin got up, ready to let go of her hand, but before he could release it completely, he felt Clovis gently clutching his finger with her small paw.
"Let’s bathe together, I’ve sweated again." The Bunny Girl had no talent for lying, but seeing her blushing and bashful, Malin still nodded with a smile, "Okay then."
Entering the bathroom, Malin took off his outerwear, hung them on the rack, and then stepped into the bath. Speaking of which, the tub was indeed large enough that in his past life, Malin had never dreamed he would one day be able to soak in such a private hot spring.
Fate, it sure is a headache.
After showering and washing his hair thoroughly, Malin settled into the hot spring, noticing Clovis sit next to him. The little bunny seemed utterly unable to withstand the temperature of the hot spring, her little face red as if she could bleed.
Your sisters, they really went too far.
With that thought, Malin reached out, rubbing Clovis’s bunny ears — they were actually very pretty, thick and soft on the outside, with the insides full of pure white fluff, indicating they were carefully maintained daily. Still, Malin took out a little spoon made for ear cleaning, and used it to give the girl a thorough ear cleaning.
Since Malin had done this before, Clovis obediently sat in front of him, leaning her head back against Malin’s chest, so he could clean her ears in the most comfortable way.
"Mr. Malin really is a gentle person."
After cleaning one ear, Clovis suddenly said something out of the blue, and Malin was surprised. He reached out and tickled her nose, "What’s this, are you praising me?"
"Yes, because it’s true. Everyone says I’m an abandoned child, with irreversible beast-like mutations. Even the offspring of predators despise me..." Clovis squinted her eyes, enjoying the warmth of the hot spring and Malin’s careful ear cleaning service, "I told my sisters, if it wasn’t for you, I would probably have completely mutated by now, instead of being like this. Even though the twisted mutations on my body cannot be reversed, I haven’t had an increase in mutation points for a year, and the fluff on my chest and legs has been reduced, which indicates a decrease in mutation status. The ladies at Benevolent Hospital said I encountered a true miracle..." As she spoke, the Bunny Girl choked up, raising her head to look at Malin, "But I know, it’s all thanks to you, Mr. Malin, you are my miracle."
Malin smiled as he finished cleaning the little bunny’s ears, then rubbed her head, "I just don’t like seeing a little rabbit wither away. To tell the truth, I quite like you, even though you say you look like a monster. But where is there a monster as cute as you? Fluffy ears, fluffy body, fluffy hands, completely covered in fluff, how adorable."
Malin had no resistance to the word ’fluffy’ because the first gift he ever gave was a fluffy bunny doll, and the girl loved it, and he was very happy.
Latterly, the girl was gone, and the whereabouts of the doll became unknown, filling Malin’s heart with regret.
Afterward, when he came to this world, he saw a living, moving Bunny Girl, and watching her fear herself because of her deformity, watching the light in her eyes gradually dim, Malin did not want to see such a little girl lose her life. For him, be it Jessica or Faye, these five girls, in his eyes, were like reflections of her, hence he had to take good care of them.
He had feelings for them, affection, but most of all, he didn’t want to have any more regrets.
Thinking this, Malin stroked Clovis’s ears again and then followed the girl’s neck down, feeling the tiny bumps on her cervical vertebra and spine, which were also deformities. Clovis didn’t look back but still raised a question, "Mr. Malin felt it, right? These bumps, they’re also deformities."
"But they don’t detract from your cuteness," Malin said with a smile as he patted the girl’s shoulder, "Alright, my girl, we should go out now. I wouldn’t want the head maid to have unfounded thoughts about us possibly fainting in here."
Clovis obediently stood up, which allowed Malin to see the adorable little bunny tail—oh, so fluffy and twitching. Really too cute.
No, must maintain my gentlemanly image, absolutely cannot pinch it with my hand.
With this purely innocent idea, Malin dried himself off, put on his robe, then helped Clovis deal with her long hair. Although Clovis’ hair length was much shorter than Maya’s, it was the proper length for a caster as spell instructors say, overly long hair could sometimes catch alight inadvertently while using a Flame Spell.
At that moment, whether to deal with the fire or face the enemy’s attacks, it was a question of life and death.
After drying Clovis’s hair, Malin led the girl out of the bathroom just in time to see the head maid holding a pocket watch. The latter glanced at Clovis, then smiled and silently retreated to the other end of the corridor.
Malin chuckled. He had a feeling that the responsible head maid was on a mission as he took Clovis’s little paw and led her to his room—it was almost midnight, and he couldn’t possibly send the girl back to the large room with the other girls. Malin certainly didn’t mind sharing the large bed from the Faye family with Clovis.
Clovis loved the soft, big bed a lot. The moment the girl saw the large bed, she happily jumped on it and rolled around a couple of times.
Malin watched the Bunny Girl sit up on the bed, then he stood in front of the arcane lamp switch, "Alright, it’s time to go to sleep, we have a busy day tomorrow."
"Mhm." Clovis nodded, turned on the bedside lamp, and then snuggled into the covers.
Malin turned off the arcane lamp, then came to the bedside, looking at the bunny girl’s bright, expectant eyes in the dark, he smiled, turned off the light, and slipped into the covers.
Listening to the Bunny Girl’s breathing beside him and feeling that she had fallen asleep, Malin too closed his eyes—through the long night, only the warm comfort of the covers could soothe a weary gentleman’s heart.
