Chapter 202: One hundred and fifty-one: Surprise (2)

Malin also took two steps back as a sign of respect.

Logan retreated at least twenty steps and directly hid under the carriage.

Shelton, with a sorrowful face, took the second bunny out of the cage, grabbed its ears with his left hand, and drew a dagger with his right.

In that instant, Malin heard whispers in his mind, the first half of which were obscure and incomprehensible, but the last sentence was crystal clear.

After severing the veins, cutting the arteries, still as a picture of cuteness.

As a sacrifice, the bunny’s soul departed its body, and this time, the array seemed to work very successfully, the rift opened once again, Malin braced himself, the assistant priest was meticulous, Logan crushed a defensive spell scroll outright.

When the rift opened to about the height of a person, Malin saw that it "spat out" Clovis and Lillim.

The former had not even touched the ground when one hand formed a succession of highly effective Flame Bursts.

The latter appeared right after, casting protection spells with both hands in a chorus of echoes.

Ah, the girls... Malin only had time to raise his hand when he saw Clovis targeting Shelton—if one put oneself in Clovis’s perspective, suddenly being swept into the rift and then expelled, attacking immediately was indeed the correct choice, it’s always best to kill first and ask questions later.

Moreover, Shelton was the tallest among those present, and to a little orc like Clovis, bigger targets were more dangerous, taller ones more terrifying.

Then, the unfortunate happened—Mr. Shelton was blasted away by the chain of fireballs, Malin watched as he tumbled while being hit by the self-tracking Fireballs.

The good news was Mr. Shelton really was wealthy, he must have triggered some artifact, the fireballs couldn’t penetrate the Shield, so he flew and tumbled while screaming.

"My... My God! What went wrong again?" the assistant priest clutched his head, tormenting the few hairs he had left.

"Wow, Malin, your girlfriend is super awesome," Logan whistled from under the carriage.

"Are you girls together today?" Malin greeted the two girls.

Clovis and Lillim looked puzzled.

It took a good while to explain to the two girls what had happened, and Clovis and Lillim were still somewhat incredulous—they had just stepped off the carriage when a rift appeared under their feet, they tumbled in the void without reacting, and upon seeing the main world, Clovis was instantly drawn to Shelton’s size.

He looked so big, so dangerous, and seemed to be the one who had summoned them; Clovis made a split-second decision—to kill this guy first then figure out where she was.

On the other side, Shelton finally emerged from the woods with a face full of shock and dismay, looking at Malin: "Why them?"

"You ask me, who do I ask." Speaking of this, Malin too was full of question marks: "Could it be that after you sacrificed a bunny, the array spat out a giant bunny and threw in a lamb for free?" Malin finished speaking, and naturally, both sides of his face were grabbed by the two girls.

"Stop that! Continue checking the array!" The assistant priest finally spared his sparse hair.

At this point, Logan finally crawled out from under the carriage, patted the dust off himself, and gave Bunny Girl and the Lamb Girl a smile.

"Why are you under the carriage?" Clovis and Lillim asked in unison.

"Judging by the scene, I’m the weakest, so I have to make sure I can activate the carriage at the first sign of trouble and take everyone away from this godforsaken place," Logan explained earnestly.

Malin curled his lips—a kid good for nothing, but a champion at lying.

"But why be under the carriage, not on top?" Clovis and Lillim sharply pointed out the problem.

"Why, the carriage bottom is a bit safer," Logan replied with an embarrassed smile: "I should be under the carriage, not on the roof with all the danger around."

Malin slapped his forehead.

......

After fifteen minutes, the assistant priest confirmed there were no issues with the array, he looked at the two girls by Malin’s side, then glanced at Shelton, and finally extended his hand: "Give me the dagger, I will make the sacrifice."

Malin was pleased, finally the assistant priest couldn’t stand it anymore, it should have been this way, Shelton must be of the anti-spiritual constitution, the little spiritual energy he had couldn’t even control the array properly.

Shelton, with an embarrassed face, drew the dagger and handed it over to the assistant priest, handle first.

The assistant priest took the last bunny out of the cage.

Malin covered Clovis’s eyes with his hand—the bunny was screaming, and Clovis was getting angry.

"The array has started." Lillim, also a member of the whiz kids in array studies, confirmed the beginning of the array’s operation, so Malin withdrew his hand and shielded the two girls behind him.

Lillim kept casting protection spells for Malin.

Clovis drew a small Anti-spiritual Array at their feet.

Meanwhile, Logan hung his head and dived under the carriage again.

Malin looked up, watching the falling snowflakes and raised his eyebrows: "It’s snowing."

"Very successful." The assistant priest handed the dagger back to Shelton, then swiftly switched places with him, and moved aside—he would intervene if the situation got out of hand, but before that, it was Shelton and Malin’s showtime.

The temperature was noticeably dropping, Malin turned and gave Logan a slap on the back, creating a miniature Sanctuary: "Hide well, it’s the real deal this time."
