Chapter 149: One hundred seventeen: Who is plucking the guitar strings
"Master Carter," the policeman by the roadside saluted the child walking by, tipping his hat.
"Good morning, Officer," the child in his eyes was smiling.
"Master Carter," the bookstore manager by the roadside smiled at the child who was coming.
"Good morning, Mister Manager," the child in his eyes smiled bashfully.
Carter Yudam was on his way to the library; as a member of the Yudam family, he had become a very popular child in the city over the past month.
Everyone liked him.
Carter Yudam stood on tiptoe to take a newspaper from the shelf: "Sir, please have this newspaper delivered to my house, thank you."
The manager nodded, took the money and newspaper, and headed to the Yudam residence.
The child continued to walk with a smile, always returning a smile whenever he was greeted.
He passed the store opened by the Thanan, disliking the smell inside, Carter frowned and looked towards the large window, someone was waving at him, and Carter immediately showed a happy smile.
Then he saw the small child and the wolf girl sitting at a table for two.
Carter began to laugh, "Come on, look at me, you pitiful mortals."
"Look at my cuteness, my beauty, and then, wallow in your own inferiority."
......
Malin looked at the wolf girl in front of him, she was clumsily using chopsticks to pick up pieces of meat.
"How is it, tastes good, right?"
"Delicious, very sour," Jessica grimaced as she stuffed meat into her mouth, unable to explain why, as the slightly sour meat would normally have gotten her brother beat for wasting food and reminded him of the consequences.
But here, such meat was so delicious.
"Still, it’s too sour, next time I will cook for you," Malin said.
Then he noticed Jessica’s gaze was bewildered, the piece of meat on her chopsticks about to be placed in her mouth fell down.
Malin turned his head and saw the small, grinning, big-eared, bald-headed, big-eyed, fanged little monster outside the window.
Upon another glance, he noticed Jessica smiling at the monster, Malin frowned and reached out to grab Jessica’s hand, "Jessica, wake up."
......
The wolf girl was like in a dream, dreaming of a cute child smiling at her, making her unable to resist smiling back.
When she woke up, Malin was holding her hand, Jessica was puzzled as she looked at that child, not knowing why she had been in such an embarrassing situation.
Why would she act like this with a boy she didn’t even know?
The wolf girl felt ashamed, not knowing how to explain, and in her eyes, Malin opened his mouth.
Not to scold, but to inquire: "Big ears, bald head, big eyes, full of sharp teeth, those should be vampire features, right?"
"Yes, yes," Jessica finished answering, and before she could react, she saw Malin pat the window, smiled at the vampire, and silently said a sentence to him.
Don’t flirt with my dinner companion?
Jessica blushed in an instant.
So, so embarrassing!
......
"Looks like our young Master Yudam has been rebuffed," the half-human tracker from Delta Group leaned against the wall, watching the interaction between the Yudam kid and the people inside the window, and couldn’t help but laugh.
"This is the first time I’ve seen him rebuffed, but speaking of which, is it really okay for him to use charm so recklessly?" his half-human companion asked.
"It’s just the most basic Friendly Spell, Lady Camilla thinks there won’t be a problem, we don’t need to bother with it before capturing them," the half-human pursed his lips: "He’s gone, let’s follow."
......
The little monster in front of them grimaced and walked away.
This made Malin more certain about one thing—this little monster was not acting alone, he must have companions.
Should he follow to see if there’s a problem?
Never mind, he finally got to eat a meal with Jessica, these vampires were hiding in a human city, dressed so respectfully, they seemed to be very accustomed to living in the world of mortals, it’s best not to act rashly until confirming their identities and affiliations.
With this in mind, Malin patted the back of Jessica’s hand, "It’s a Friendly Spell, that little thing has an extraordinary talent for Assistance Magic." Vampires are usually adept at this.
"He’s a naughty boy!" Jessica was somewhat displeased, but she soon calmed down under Malin’s comforting.
After breakfast, Malin took Jessica back to the Church, where he sought out Bishop, who frowned immediately upon hearing Malin’s story: "A vampire whelp, I haven’t heard of any vampire families with a treaty of accord with the Churches around here, where did you see it?"
The Bishop took Malin to a wall with a city map and Malin pointed out the location.
"806 Nancy Avenue... Alright, I will send a squad of Punishers to check it out... Wait, I think I’ll go myself, vampires rarely allow their young to move about freely, since you’ve seen the whelp, there must be an adult vampire in this city." The Bishop said, then looked at Malin, "I’ve heard a little story about you from Carterburg, they mentioned you as a moving disaster, it seems there is truth to the rumors."
Malin gave a wry smile, "I’m just good at observing."
"Regardless, we should thank you, uncontrolled vampires are a nuisance, we’ll go meet this family, and how about you?"
