Chapter 1100: Section 688: Wish (Part 1)
"Your physics teacher would be mad."
In Malin’s mind, he heard Jason’s criticism. Clearly, he was dissatisfied with Malin for referring to plasma as a laser. Malin sighed at this—his physics teacher had been gone for eight thousand years; such a person coming back to life would surely be the kind that street vendors dreaded.
But speaking of which, Malin had something to say as well.
"Come on, think about my era. It was all the media’s fault."
Of course, trying to explain cold energy beam skills, plasma, or K-O Crystal to someone as old-fashioned as Malin would get you into trouble. So, throwing the issue onto the media, which was good at creating controversy, Malin raised his hand. This deep abyss Machine Soul seemed very dangerous; this was evident from the grim look on Nicholas, the Assistant Priest, when he saw it.
So Malin put full power into his Psychic Palm.
Everyone present then witnessed a ’wall’ of spiritual energy, powerful enough to distort the air, instantly contact this deep abyss Machine Soul. Then, as if hit by some high-speed object, it flew backward along the way it came, hit the wall after flying across the entire execution room, and the stone blocks forming the wall shattered, exposing the metal exterior.
Goodness, the underground layer of the Church of the Lord of Justice is sanctuary technology indeed.
Realizing this, Malin saw the deep abyss Machine Soul he had slammed against the wall, sparking and smoldering, trembling continuously. He couldn’t help but turn to Nicholas, the Assistant Priest, and ask, "Is this thing strong?"
"Yes, but I underestimated its strength when facing you," Nicholas, the Assistant Priest, replied, nearly jumping up, "My heavens! I survived such close contact with a deep abyss Machine Soul!"
"Why is it called a deep abyss Machine Soul?" Malin asked.
He asked Nicholas, the Assistant Priest, but also Jason.
Nicholas, the Assistant Priest, of course, held nothing back. Through his introduction, Malin learned that a deep abyss Machine Soul was a very special type of Machine Soul. If a normal out-of-control Machine Soul was a soulless shell, then a deep abyss Machine Soul was a dangerous steel monster with knowledge and consciousness.
They were old Machine Souls that hunted divine beings. They could accurately detect any divine life, whether it was a Deity’s avatar in the underworld or a life form with divine blood flowing in its veins.
Damn, Malin silently glanced at Nicholas, the Assistant Priest. Damn it, it seemed like his heroic deity couldn’t stay hidden. What to do, kill these guys? He must contact Ails, absolutely not letting their souls report to the red-skinned brat.
Just as he thought about this, he saw Nicholas, the Assistant Priest, walking over, greeting Malin with full respect.
"Your Eminence, worthy of being a dear friend of my Lord!" Nicholas, the Assistant Priest, opened his mouth, leaving Malin bewildered—wasn’t he at least a little surprised at Malin’s identity?
Perhaps noticing Malin’s slight confusion, Nicholas, the Assistant Priest, pointed to the deep abyss Machine Soul, "When I arrived, the Bishop told me to show you the greatest respect of the Church. Now it seems my Lord already knew you had advanced further. That must be why you, my Lord, and the Lord of Justice could form a friendship. As a mortal, I am filled with shame, Your Eminence."
Goodness, Malin marveled—this Assistant Priest sure knew how to dramatize, but it was also good because it was evident that his words were genuinely heartfelt.
"Well..." Malin wanted to say they got it wrong, but didn’t know how to say it.
But Nicholas, the Assistant Priest, seemed to have guessed what Malin wanted to say. He patted his chest hard, then drew the Holy Emblem of the Church of the War God on his chest, "Your Eminence, rest assured, my four subordinates and I can swear, if we ever reveal your identity, we shall suffer the most horrific punishment."
Malin gave a wry smile—not really, you wouldn’t understand that your faith is long gone, and the one responding to your faith now is Khorne.
But Malin’s wry smile was quickly interpreted by Nicholas, the Assistant Priest, who swiftly ran to the completely damaged Machine Soul, took the sword’s hilt in its hand, and handed it to Malin, "Your Eminence, rest assured, as clergy, we know what it means to keep a secret. Please trust us."
"...I trust you." Malin thought, since these guys spoke so, they were probably trustworthy.
After all, Malin didn’t feel these guys were lying—this was easy to confirm; those who followed this ’War God’ never really had a knack for lying.
Since that was the case, Malin asked the old butler to see everyone out, and while waiting for Faye, Jason, who hadn’t spoken up until then, sighed, "The one in charge was the base manager of Sostak No. 4, operating remotely."
Jason was now talking to Malin using a button camera. The camera in the button had seen this deep abyss Machine Soul.
Malin knew the situation at No. 4—Sostak had seven AIs in total, from one to seven. No. 3 was the only surviving lucky one, while No. 4 was the fallen brother confirmed to have been killed by Sostak No. 3.
"I saw the footage Jason shared. Judging by its spoken logic, it was indeed the base manager of No. 4... I don’t know why he appeared here."
