Chapter 1047: Section 603: Journey to Central South (4)_3
Ails walked over, picked up the jar, and glanced inside... Malin felt that this Lich seemed to have a brief moment of existential contemplation. Out of curiosity, Malin moved in front of Ails, who was holding the jar, jumped up to take a peek inside, and—oh my—this tea concoction was as rich as a potion loaded with five pounds of sugar and arsenic.
"Speaking of which, Mr. Lich, I’m really curious—how are you planning to drink this?" Pastor Zhang asked. Clearly, he hadn’t seen what was inside the jar; otherwise, he wouldn’t have had the face to ask such a question.
Ails, as straightforward as ever, handed the jar to Malin to hold, and then, under the watchful eyes of the crowd, performed a dazzling transformation into a living person.
He then pulled a robe out of his private space and draped it over himself. Malin, meanwhile, picked up the spoon conjured from Mana and handed it to Ails.
Ails used the World Tree spoon to scoop up a chunk of... tea paste and shove it into his mouth. Malin watched as pure white mist spewed out from every one of Ails’ facial orifices in an instant.
...It seemed to be more than just seven orifices... Ah well, some things are better left unexplored. At least he didn’t burst into spontaneous combustion—that would’ve been a real mess, and even if Malin jumped into the Milky Way, he wouldn’t be able to explain it.
After snorting loudly, Ails turned to face the citizens on the city wall with a beaming smile: "What a kick! How many Chaos brains does it take to trade for a jar like this?!"
Malin translated for him—previously, soul communication made translation unnecessary, but now that Ails was using the common language of the Western Human World, translation was required.
There was an uproar on the city wall, and an old man was helped up: "Sir, you’ve already paid with your rent!"
Malin translated again, and Ails’ grin nearly turned his face into a series of folds. He bowed once more in gratitude.
Pastor Zhang then ordered the gates to be opened, and Ails, clutching his jar, followed Malin into the city. Naturally, his legion stayed outside, setting up camp far from the city—the Liches under Ails’ command could handle all matters efficiently.
"Honestly, I’ve never encountered a Lich like you before. You said your name is Ails—how on earth are you not afraid of Positive Energy?" Pastor Zhang walked up to Ails, his face full of disbelief as he looked at the spoon in Ails’ hands and the black sesame paste-like goo in the jar.
"Well, during my time in the Western Human World with Mr. Malin, perhaps I did enough good deeds? You know me—I’m excellent at extracting those Chaos-like, mushy souls and turning them into Soul Coins. I’ve got quite the knack for it. If you ever die and become something like me, I can teach you how to do it too. Trust me, it’s incredibly profitable." Ails chuckled as he spoke, while his magical hand pulled a cigarette case from the small pouch at his waist. Opening it, he continued, "Oh, by the way, this is the Holy Grass Leaf from the Western Human World, my favorite indulgence when I take on human form. It reminds me of the small joys of being human. Want to try one?"
By this point, Ails had cast a language comprehension spell on himself, allowing him to manage simultaneous translation without Malin’s help.
"I’ll pass on the business offer, but I won’t say no to a smoke." Pastor Zhang laughed heartily, unpretentious, and took one. With his hand as a blade, he neatly sliced open the cigar, and Malin snapped his fingers, summoning natural Psychic Flame to light it for the pastor.
There’s an old saying that perfect fire matters when smoking a cigar. Woodfire hurts the liver, charcoal fire harms the stomach, oil fire damages the lungs—only Psychic Flame enhances vitality and nourishes the body.
