The dinner became lively because of the presence of Chief Gu. As the excitement grew, Chief Gu took the lead in drinking with everyone to narrow the distances, but unlike others, He Teng seemed distracted all evening, worried about He Zhilan at home.

Commissioner Chen knew about the issues between Gu En and He Zhilan. Although he wasn’t aware that He Zhilan’s miscarriage was linked to Mrs. Gu, he could tell that He Teng was distressed throughout the night.

"We’re in the army, sometimes, we have to put on an act. No matter how much your heart disagrees, you still need to act when you need to." Commissioner Chen quietly patted He Teng’s shoulder as a hint.

He Teng grunted and nodded, but he did not follow Commissioner Chen’s suggestion to toast and chat up Chief Gu to curry favor. He Teng and the Gu Family had completely fallen out, so there was no need for him to pretend.
