Chapter 884: Chapter 884 Doubt 5
"You go back to the office area and rest. The dew in the garden is heavy in the morning, we’ve got this covered." He Teng patted He Zhilan’s head and felt that indeed, her hair was dripping wet. He became more insistent, "Go and wait outside. Your hair is already dripping water. You might get a headache later!"
"Yeah, sister-in-law, why don’t you wait for us outside? We are grown men, our hair isn’t as long as yours, a wipe and it’s dry, but not for you! Early morning dew is damp and chilly, don’t harm yourself." Kang Xing chimed in from the side, "If you’re here, our deputy commander will be distracted looking after you."
Only then did He Zhilan obediently step outside the garden. What Kang Xing said was not an exaggeration; her hair was indeed wet enough to wring out, all from the morning dew. Touching it, it felt ice cold.
Realizing she couldn’t be of help here, He Zhilan simply returned to the office area. Thinking of the soldiers busy in the Tea Garden, she went straight to the cafeteria and got someone to brew a large pot of ginger tea, hoping that they could have a bowl to drive off the chill after finding the item.
Because no one knew what Niu Rang had left in the Tea Garden, nor what it looked like, and considering the substantial size of the Tea Garden, it took the group from just past six in the morning until almost eleven to retreat.
Having heard from the people in the botanical garden that He Zhilan was at the cafeteria, He Teng went looking for her and from afar, saw He Zhilan holding a bowl of hot tea and chatting. He called out to her from a distance and waved his hand.
"Brother!" As soon as He Zhilan saw him, she hurried over with the bowl, "This is the ginger tea I asked the cafeteria auntie to make. It’s still hot; hurry and have a few sips to warm yourself."
Not giving He Teng a chance to refuse, He Zhilan brought the bowl to his lips. Her eyes blinked earnestly at He Teng, who couldn’t find it in himself to decline, and so he took the bowl and took a couple of sips while looking at He Zhilan.
"What about your comrades? Have them come in for a bowl of ginger tea! I asked the auntie to keep it heated on the stove. It’s cold weather and the dew in the garden is heavy; it’s not good to fall ill," He Zhilan inquired.
"They’re waiting outside," replied He Teng. Before he could speak further, He Zhilan had already run out the door.
When she reached the entrance, she saw a group of young men standing at the door waiting, each of them greeting her as they saw her.
"Don’t stand outside in the cold wind, come inside. I’ve had someone make ginger tea for you. Even if you’re in a rush, it doesn’t hurt to take some time for a cup of tea. Health is important. By the way, everyone came so early today, have you all eaten? The cafeteria has buns, just steamed. If you’re hungry, come in and eat. If you’re in a hurry, grab some to eat on the go."
"Sister-in-law, you’re so kind!" Kang Xing was almost moved to tears by He Zhilan’s thoughtfulness and concern for them, "Everyone rushed out so early today that we didn’t even have time to drink a sip of water, let alone eat."
"Then why are you still standing? Hurry up inside!" He Zhilan was genuinely worried for these big kids upon hearing this.
However, after she spoke, she noticed everyone was looking at Lan Li and did not dare to move, and so she said to Lan Li, "What’s the matter, Lieutenant Lan? Isn’t this okay? If you say no, then I have no other choice, but if you’re not concerned for the health of your soldiers, I am for those under He Teng’s command!"
