Bian Muhe and Lin Chan nodded in agreement. Everyone knew that every person who could reach that point was no saint, let alone the Shen Family with deep roots. After advising He Zhilan, Lin Chan turned to He Teng and said, "You smashed a journalist’s camera today while dressed in military uniform. I estimate the journalist might report this to your unit. So, be careful."

Even if he did receive a demerit, He Teng didn’t regret his actions. If he had to do it again, he would still smash the camera.

"That’s how a real man like He Mutou should act, protecting our Zhilan. He’s doing his duty!" Lin Chan chuckled. "Now, both of you should take a good rest. He Mutou, look after Zhilan. Muhe and I will go to the newspaper agency. Tonight, we have invited a few journalists for supper to discuss tonight’s event. So, we will take our leave first."

He Zhilan and He Teng walked their guests out before returning to the guesthouse. Looking at He Teng, she sighed softly, "Brother, I’ve brought trouble to you."

He Teng glanced at He Zhilan, "I don’t see it that way." Changing the subject, he asked, "Are you going back to school? You don’t have any pajamas here. I’d imagine it would be uncomfortable sleeping in that dress."

"I don’t want to go back," He Zhilan shook her head. "Who knows if the journalists might stakeout at my school’s entrance? This dress is quite comfortable; I can sleep in it."

After speaking, He Zhilan turned her gaze back to He Teng, "And what about you? Did you pack any clothes?"

He Teng shook his head. He had parked his military vehicle at a nearby police station and had headed straight here after dropping off He Zhilan and He Dongxue at the train station. However, he was dressed warmly, including thermal wear. With his jacket off, his innerwear could pass off as sleepwear.

He Teng scanned the room. He initially planned on securing another room, but seeing He Zhilan’s downcast mood, he scrapped that idea. Tonight, he thought, it was best to stay with her, just like He Zhilan said, one more night wouldn’t make a difference after so many nights.

This night might be restless for many. Over at the Gu Family, after hanging up a phone call, the leader of the Gu Family immediately called Gu En back from school.

"Gu En, how old are you this year?" The Gu Family’s leader’s face looked somber. "Why did He Zhilan say you’ve hidden your age? How did she come across your affairs?"
