Having said that, He Zhilan grabbed her small bag and dashed into the bathroom. Inside were her pajamas and toiletries she had prepared earlier in the day. Ever since she found out that He Teng was staying in a guest house, she had been planning to spend the night with him.

He Teng didn’t even have a chance to stop her. He Zhilan slipped into the bathroom like an eel in mud. It wasn’t until he saw her come out in her pajamas that he realised what was in her paper bag—her clothes and toiletries. He then understood her tactic; she had deliberately dragged out their stroll and conversation earlier to buy time.

"He Zhilan, you’ve planned this all along, why make up excuses to not go home?" He Teng was both angry and helpless. But at this point, could he really kick her out?

"Brother, you caught me, didn’t you? I was just worried about you being alone in this unfamiliar place, so I thought I’d come and keep you company." He Zhilan grinned unabashedly.

He Teng scoffed, clearly unimpressed, "I’m not like you."

But she had already taken a bath and put on her pajamas—what good would his anger do? He was left with no choice but to grab his own things and go for a shower, hoping that He Zhilan would behave and not cause any trouble tonight.

When He Teng came out of the bathroom, He Zhilan was already lying on her side on the bed and staring at him, not trying to hide her feelings at all.

Under He Zhilan’s gaze, He Teng stopped, looked around the room but found no chair that he could manage to sleep on for the night in the guest house.

"What are you standing there for? Hurry up and come to bed. Don’t start with the ’we’re divorced, we can’t sleep together’ stuff again. We’ve shared a bed many times before, one more time won’t make any difference." He Zhilan urged, then immediately turned her back on him, signalling she was just there to share the bed and sleep.

After watching for a moment and seeing no further action from He Zhilan, He Teng finally went over and lay down. He also lay on his side, leaving enough space in the middle for another person to lay across. Feeling movement from the person next to him, he quickly warned, "He Zhilan, if you dare to pounce on me, you’ll be sleeping on the floor tonight!"

However, by the time he finished speaking, it was too late. He Zhilan had already rolled over and was lying right next to him, just like that night back home. But due to his words, she refrained from doing anything else.

"Brother, good night." He Zhilan obediently wished him good night and then closed her eyes.

In truth, just lying next to He Teng, even without doing anything else, was satisfying for He Zhilan. She knew making him lose control like he did that night in the military was impossible this time.

He Zhilan thought if He Dongxue and Kang Xing had shown up later that night at the military base, she and He Teng could have naturally developed their relationship further. Knowing He Teng’s stubborn personality, once something happened, his mindset would definitely change.

Maybe by now, He Teng would have agreed to remarry her already.

That night, He Zhilan really did lie next to He Teng and sleep peacefully. The next morning, He Teng rose early and woke He Zhilan to have her return to campus, as he had a meeting to attend.

After the two separated from the guest house, one went back to Capital University and the other rushed to the meeting location, thus parting ways.

For the sake of being cautious, He Zhilan took a week off from university. With the weekend included, she had exactly seven days. Before leaving for M Country, she called He Teng to inform him of her itinerary. As Lin Chan was unable to accompany her due to his own schedule, they had to arrange for someone else to look after He Zhilan, who was traveling abroad for the first time.

Luckily, there was no need to catch a connecting flight from Capital to M Country. As soon as He Zhilan disembarked, Lihua was waiting for her outside the airport and personally picked her up.
