Chapter 683: Chapter 683: Sharing a Pillow after Divorce 5_1

He Zhilan was making valid points, effectively throwing his own words right back at him. He Teng was quite dumbfounded with no immediate response. He was not a man of many words to begin with, and therefore was at a complete loss in such moments.

"Go rest early," He Zhilan urged He Teng, "I’m tired. These past few days, I’ve been either on a car, or a plane or a train. I’m really exhausted!" She then climbed into bed, lying on her side and leaving more than half the space for He Teng.

After waiting for almost a minute, she heard the rustling sound of He Teng changing his clothes. Soon after, she felt someone lying next to her. He Zhilan turned her back to He Teng, curving the corners of her lips into a secret smile.

Once He Teng was settled, He Zhilan rolled over and laid herself on top of He Teng, looking up at him with a pitiful face, "Brother, my back hurts, the bed is hard, I can’t sleep well. Your body is softer. Can I lay on you?"

He Teng, originally wanting He Zhilan to lie down properly, was left speechless by her expression. Thinking of her back injury, he nodded, "Close your eyes and sleep. You should rest more. It will help your wounds heal faster."

"Hmm!" He Zhilan bobbed her head like smashing garlic. Then, she buried her face into He Teng’s chest, adjusting her position, and with immense satisfaction, patted He Teng’s chest muscles, which were hardly softer than the bed.

Even in the countryside, during the peak of summer, it was much cooler than in the city. But considering two bodies so closely entwined, claiming it wasn’t hot would be a lie, wouldn’t it?

However, despite the heat, neither of them made any extra movements.

He Teng felt it was worth the discomfort to support He Zhilan’s sleep.

Whereas He Zhilan felt the heat was a price worth paying to be this close to He Teng.

The countryside’s nightfall came early. By around nine in the evening, all households had turned off their lights to rest. The entire village was quiet, leaving behind sounds of insects and frogs alongside the ceaseless noise of cicadas hidden in the trees.

He Zhilan, leaning on He Teng’s shoulder, was incredibly contented listening to his heartbeat. Her injuries were taken care of with more concern by others than herself. All of this made everything worthwhile.

After some time, He Zhilan looked up at He Teng to see him apparently fast asleep. She then whispered, "Brother?"

Seeing no reaction from He Teng, she switched to, "He Teng?" She waved her hand in front of his face. Seeing still no response, she gathered her courage and continued, "Ateng?"

Then, she moved a little and, curving the corners of her lips, leaned into He Teng’s lips. The figure stealing a kiss was, in her heart, jubilant about the act but to her surprise, she raised her eyes to meet the deep black pupils of the man previously sleeping with his eyes closed.

He Zhilan made a soft gasp and quickly said, "Brother! It was just a goodnight kiss! It’s super popular abroad, among siblings, even among relatives!"

"You’re not a foreigner!", He Teng chided in a low voice, "Stop jerking around or go sleep somewhere else!"

"Ohkay!" He Zhilan readily agreed, "I won’t dare to."

Such behavior from He Zhilan truly left He Teng at a loss. Even if she had a tantrum, he could use that as an excuse to leave the room. But instead, face to face with his cold demeanor, she continued to smile casually.
