The group stayed in Bono’s room discussing until late afternoon, then they went together to the hotel’s restaurant for dinner. During this time, He Zhilan acted as the translator, introducing the hotel’s renowned dishes to the foreign friends.

By the end of the afternoon, He Zhilan had enough understanding about the team members. As the professor said, everyone in the team was an exemplary elite. Before they did anything, they would first consider the feelings of the only two ladies in the team, who were He Zhilan and Lihua.

For example, when smoking or ordering food, they would always ask for the opinions of He Zhilan and Lihua.

Perhaps due to getting along, or maybe because there was a familiar face in the team, He Zhilan felt less nervous and scared about the trip.

After dinner, Lihua went to He Zhilan’s room. The two friends with an age gap sat together, reminiscing old times.

"If I’d known Bono’s student was you, I would’ve come with you right from the start!" Lihua was quite excited, "With you around, my work won’t be boring. If you’re not in a hurry to go home after work, we can stay here for a couple more days to hang out."

"I didn’t expect we would have such destiny either." He Zhilan couldn’t help but smile while saying. Upon thinking, she remembered that Lihua was a researcher, so it wasn’t too surprising for her to be part of the team.

This work assignment was essentially linked to research or, in other words, it was a cooperative discussion between two research labs.

The two chatted for a while in the room. Since they had to get up early the next morning, Lihua didn’t disturb He Zhilan for too long and left. As soon as Lihua left, He Zhilan called her home from the hotel room’s telephone.

One good thing about the hotel compared to a hostel is better facilities. While waiting for her father to answer the call, He Zhilan comfortably leaned back onto the soft leather sofa in the room.

Her father rushed all the way from the He family home to the store to take the call. As soon as he did, he sounded anxious and worrisome, "Did you arrive safely? Have you met your boss? Are they pleasant?"

"Dad, I arrived at the hotel just after two in the afternoon, but I had to meet them for work as soon as I arrived. Only now had I got some time to call you. Don’t worry, the boss is a good person. There’s also a familiar face, the wife of my former temporary job’s boss, so rest assured, I am safe here!"

Her father was much relieved to hear about the familiar face. He asked He Zhilan to not cause any trouble to her friends, and then hung up, telling her to call He Teng at the military base, reassuring that she was safe.

Just like her father, He Teng had been waiting for He Zhilan’s call since the afternoon. Hearing that John’s wife Lihua was a member of the team, even though he had never met Lihua, he felt much more relieved knowing John was a reliable man.

Once He Teng knew that He Zhilan was safe, he didn’t intend to chat with her. He said a few words and hung up. He Zhilan held the handset, pouting and inwardly cursing He Teng for being a blockhead, as if talking to her for a bit longer would eat him.

Afterwards, He Zhilan called Lin Chan to reassure her safety. Lin Chan’s conversation was lengthier than He Teng’s. Upon hearing that He Zhilan was in the city where she got lost years ago, Lin Chan sighed lightly, asking He Zhilan if she had any sentiments.

"How could I have any sentiment? Everything here is strange to me. I can’t remember any plant or building in this city, nor remember the faces of this city, let alone remember which street I used to live on." He Zhilan replied indifferently, "Moreover, even if someone who saw me here back then saw me now, they wouldn’t recognize me either. That’s the sentiment. People have changed and things remain the same. Even if I had found the city back then, I wouldn’t have found home. Because there is no trace of Gu Zhilan in this city any more."
