Just as he was about to retract his gaze and carry He Zhilan to the hospital, his attention was suddenly drawn to a small white spot, half-covered by a book next to an empty glass. He walked over, picked it up, and discovered it was a round pill. He turned towards Chen Xiting, "What kind of pill is this?"

While asking, he bent over and picked up several other pills from an inconspicuous corner under the desk. Holding the familiar-looking pills in his palm, Lin Chan tried to remember.

All of a sudden, he quickly stood up, his eyes going dark, "Damn it! They are sleeping pills! Take He Zhilan to the hospital immediately! She has swallowed sleeping pills!"

Without finishing his words, Lin Chan quickly picked up the person on the bed and sprinted out of the dorm, with Chen Xiting immediately following him.

Once in the car, Lin Chan put He Zhilan in the back and let Chen Xiting get in to attend to her. He hurriedly slid into the driver’s seat, started the car, made a sharp turn, and rushed out of the campus.

One hand on the steering wheel and driving at high speed, his other hand quickly dialed the emergency department of the nearest Medical University Affiliated Hospital. "Prepare immediately, I have a female patient here who attempted suicide by overdose of sleeping pills. The dosage and exact time are unknown, she is currently not responding to any prompts. I will be there in no more than fifteen minutes! As soon as I arrive, immediately start resuscitating her without any delay!"

After shouting this out, Lin Chan threw his phone onto the passenger seat and then asked, "What’s been happening to her recently? Why would she suddenly try to commit suicide?"

"Chan, don’t scare me. You must be mistaken. How could Zhilan commit suicide?" Chen Xiting cried out of fear, holding the lifeless He Zhilan tightly, tears dropping down.

"Why would I scare you for no reason? The pills I found under her desk are a type of foreign-brand sleeping pill. I saw my grandma eating them when I was a little kid. I swallowed one thinking it was candy, and my grandpa caught me and gave me a good beating. That lesson is still fresh in my mind!"

It could have been a funny story, especially when it happened to Lin Chan, but there was no way Chen Xiting could laugh now.

"So many pills scattered on the desk and the floor, she must have poured out a lot of them and swallowed them all at once. That’s why she’s not responding to you calling her!" Lin Chan was sweating even in the dead of winter.

"Zhilan, why are you so foolish? All because you divorced He Teng? How could you be so thoughtless and attempt suicide? What are we supposed to do if anything happens to you? You liar! You kept saying you would prove your love to He Teng over time. Is this how you prove your love?" Chen Xiting cried out in despair, "It’s all my fault, I failed to keep an eye on her. If anything happens to her, I will never forgive myself!"

"What! She divorced He Teng?" Lin Chan was shocked, "When did this happen? Why?"

Lin Chan wished he could drive at aircraft speeds. He fiercely honked his horn at anyone blocking his way, even pressing the gas pedal to the floor and barrelling forward until the terrified drivers cleared his path.
