"Isn’t this like a holiday?" Ya Dan responded, waving the paper in her hand and passing it to He Zhilan. "It’s my application for a leave of absence. I’m taking a year off. I came today to handle the procedures and take my things back home."

After saying this, Ya Dan gave an apologetic smile to Jiang Biyun and pulled He Zhilan several steps to the side. Then, she took He Zhilan’s hand and placed it on her belly. "Feel! There’s a little baby inside! I’m taking a gap year to have a baby. By this time next year, the baby will be old enough to have started weaning. I’ll leave him with my husband and my in-laws while I continue my studies!"

"Really?" He Zhilan was astonished. It seemed like everyone around her was pregnant recently, including Bian Xiulin and now Ya Dan. Seeing the joy of impending motherhood in Ya Dan’s face, He Zhilan genuinely rejoiced for her. "Congratulations! Make sure you send me a picture when your little one is born!"

"Of course!" Ya Dan nodded. "This child was unexpected, but, now that I’m pregnant, I don’t want to give up. So, I’ve decided to take a year off for the sake of this child after discussing with my family."

"By the time you come back to school, I’ll be your senior!" He Zhilan lightly teased. "But that’s okay, it won’t affect your studies."

"Right! How about you? Why don’t you follow my example? Getting married, going to college, having a baby, and graduating all in these crucial years. What a great sequence! Then, once our babies are born, if they are a boy and a girl, we can arrange a childhood betrothal. If they are of the same sex, they can grow up as siblings! How great would that be!" Ya Dan laughed heartily.

He Zhilan shook her head, "I can’t. I only have my adoptive father as an elder. If I have a baby, no one would be able to care for it. So, I’ll wait until I graduate! You hurry up and have a son, and after I graduate, I will have a daughter. Let your son take good care of my girl!"

"I see~ That works!" Ya Dan patted her belly. "Dear son, did you hear that? Your Auntie He wants you to protect her daughter, and I fully support this idea. It would be great if you ended up marrying her!"

He Zhilan laughed heartily, her brows curling up. "It’s a bit chilly outside, so go home as soon as you’re done. Stay in touch regularly."

After saying goodbye to each other, Ya Dan left the campus with her husband’s support. The young mother and father walked against the cold wind, the picture of happiness.

After bidding Ya Dan farewell, He Zhilan went to the counselor’s office with Jiang Biyun. Unexpectedly, after leaving the office, they ran into Liu Jiang who just came out from the adjacent office.

"He Zhilan!" Liu Jiang called out when he saw He Zhilan was about to leave. He hurriedly went after her. "Could we talk?"
