He Zhilan nodded, agreeing. She knew that Lin Chan was giving her advice on how to get along with her future boss, John.

"Also, although he spends some time in China every year, his Chinese is not very good. He prefers to communicate in his own language. However, for you, this is not a problem. So this would be an advantage for you. Looking at your grades, I’m sure you’ll have no problem communicating with him on a daily basis."

"I understand." He Zhilan chuckled lightly.

"I’m just fussing over nothing. Everybody loves our Zhilan. John would certainly like you too! Oh, by the way, John’s wife might also come from the United Kingdom sometime later. Don’t worry, she’s a very cheerful woman. Maybe, she might end up liking you more than John do!"

Lin Chan had never been so concerned about anyone on this level before. Only He Zhilan could make him, like an elder brother, arrange everything willingly and selflessly for her.

After they had lunch together, Lin Chan left He Zhilan. Being alone in the dormitory, she didn’t dare to mess up other people’s things. So, she could only place her belongings on her own bed.

Around at three in the afternoon, her roommate, a girl who shared the room with He Zhilan, returned after her shift. Seeing He Zhilan sitting alone, she stepped forward to greet her.

"So you’ll be living with me now?" The girl’s name was Fang Fang, who had just started working there not long ago. She was a bit younger than He Zhilan and looked as if she was only about sixteen.

Fang Fang saw that He Zhilan had been escorted by the boss’s friend Lin Chan to the restaurant and was curious about her. Most importantly, she heard that He Zhilan was a Capital University student. So, to be honest, Fang Fang was a bit worried that it might be difficult to live together with a pretty girl such as He Zhilan who seemed to have a background and was also a university student.

"My name is He Zhilan. Tomorrow will be my first day working at the restaurant. I am looking forward to working with you! If there’s anything I’m doing wrong, I hope you can guide and help me!" He Zhilan extended a hand of friendship and smiled at Fang Fang.

Perhaps it was He Zhilan’s initiative to be friendly that impressed Fang Fang and so she started a conversation with He Zhilan without holding the status of being the senior worker over her.

During the conversation, He Zhilan learned that Fang Fang was not from the capital. Because her family was poor and she had two younger brothers to support for their education, she came to the capital to work after graduating from junior high school. She got this job at the restaurant through an acquaintance’s recommendation. To maintain the job, Fang Fang had endured lots of hardship. After all, many of the customers visiting the restaurant were foreign, and it was obligatory for the waitstaff to have basic communication skills in different languages. For that, she participated in a three-month foreign language training course before officially starting her job.

"Actually, anywhere can be like a little society. Like our restaurant, although it’s small and there aren’t many employees, it still consists of people of all sorts. For example, our manager is a serious man whom John brought from the United Kingdom. If you even do one small thing wrong, he will rebuke mercilessly, not caring whether you are a man or a woman, older or younger than him. We all dread him. Our head chef is also from the UK, who was a friend of John in the United Kingdom. John has dug him up with a lot of money from somewhere else. The head chef cooks very tasty food, and he also likes Chinese cuisine. He often asks us about different specialties. We all like the head chef."
