If not, I can have them altered and send them over to you," Lin Chan said, pointing to a large plastic bag on the back seat of the car. Then, glancing at the scarf around He Zhilan’s neck, he said with a proud smile, "I knew you’d look good with this scarf on. My tastes never disappoint."

"You always bring me gifts. I am a little embarrassed to accept them," He Zhilan said, smiling gently. She did not, however, refuse. The clothes must have been tailor-made to fit her by Lin Chan. He had even made a special trip to deliver them. If she were to decline now, she would only dampen his spirits.

"Embarrassed? I’m telling you, when I give you something, just accept it! It’s my token of appreciation. Besides, my company wouldn’t have lasted a week or a month if it weren’t for you!" Lin Chan said with a wave of his hand. Then, he asked, "I heard some fuss about you and Gu En when I got back. What happened last week? Gu En can be really scheming. Be careful living with her."

"Let it go. Everything from last week is past now. I don’t have any ties with Gu En anymore. She sees me as her enemy, and I see her as a scourge," He Zhilan said. Lin Chan was truly worn out from his recent business dealings. So, He Zhilan didn’t want to vex him with issues long past.
