Yet, Lan Song’s words were like a nail, pinning He Zhilan to the ground, making it impossible for her to leave.
God knows, for twelve years, how Zhilan longed to know about her parents: Where were they now? Were they healthy? Did they miss her crazily like she missed them?
"Lan Song, keep your word!" He Zhilan bit her lip and sat down again.
"Don’t worry, I am a businessman after all, and if a businessman doesn’t even have basic credibility, can I still call myself a businessman?" Seeing this, Lan Song laughed, his eyes lighting up as he shoved the glass into He Zhilan’s hand, "Now, let’s have a drink to thank you for giving me some face!"
The amber-colored drink was still fizzing in the glass. The chilled drink almost froze Zhilan’s heart as soon as it entered her mouth. Drinking it too quickly, Zhilan almost choked on it. She started coughing non-stop, almost to the point of tears.
"You can’t handle a single drop of alcohol?" Lan Song teased, before speaking to his friends at his side, "See? She really can’t drink. Each of you, take it easy. Don’t bully someone young!"
Having said that, Lan Song got up to go back to Gu En, leaving his friends to join He Zhilan.
Although Lan Song seemed to have spoken for Zhilan and instructed his friends before leaving, the moment Lan Song left, Zhilan’s cup never remained empty. One glass after another was served to her without any chance for her to refuse. Some even brought the glass directly to her mouth.
Zhilan didn’t know how much she had drunk. She felt like her entire body was uncomfortably fiery, the heaviness in her head felt like a hammer continuously pounding at her temples. The surrounding air was filled with choking smoke, making her so suffocated that she could barely breathe. The light above her seemed to be spinning, making her dizzy.
There seemed to be someone shouting that she was drunk. The word "drunk" even contained strings of excitement. Zhilan’s brain felt like a computer that had crashed, her mind stopped working. By this point, she was like a marionette. If others said "drink", she would mechanically raise her glass and continue drinking.
The door to the compartment was suddenly opened, and a woman in a white western dress, stepping on high heels, walked in. Standing at the door, she only asked one question, "Who is He Zhilan?"
"He Zhilan! Someone’s looking for you," Lan Song shouted from where he was standing, then pointed Zhilan out to the woman. After that, he continued his conversation with his friends.
The woman glanced at Zhilan, seeing her as the only person in plain clothes amongst a group of men, a mocking expression emerged in her eyes.
Her high heels made no noise on the carpeted floor. The woman walked elegantly and gracefully towards Zhilan, looking condescendingly at the drunken mess that was Zhilan. The woman then picked up a glass of liquor from the table and splashed it directly onto Zhilan’s face, slamming the glass back onto the table. She then picked up the bottle and poured the rest of the liquor over Zhilan.
"Liu Jiang really should see what his celestial beauty looks like among a pile of men! A fox is always a fox, always surrounded by men wherever she goes. Capital University’s talented woman! Someone who didn’t know her might look at her now and mistake her for some cheap whore!"
