Chapter 256: Chapter 256: Big Misunderstanding 4_1
When she arrived at the dorm, everyone was still asleep. Hearing the noise, Chen Xiting popped her head out from the covers and greeted He Zhilan, "Why are you up so early today?"
"A friend gave me a ride, so I got here a lot faster than the bus." Seeing that everyone else was still asleep, Zhilan walked softly, and after closing the door, she looked in the direction of her bed. As expected, Gu En was not in the dorm at this time. Gu En always went home on weekends and didn’t come back until Monday when she had a class.
Since it was still early, Zhilan tidied up her things. She had been very busy recently, and everything in the dorm was hastily taken and put down before she left.
About half an hour later, Gu En came back to the dorm. For some reason, she was in a good mood, humming a song as she entered the room, her bag swinging back and forth in her hands.
"What a surprise!" Upon seeing He Zhilan, Gu En gave her a side glance and muttered a comment.
He Zhilan certainly detected the sarcasm in Gu En’s words, but thinking of what He Teng had said, she hesitated before calling out to Gu En.
In the meantime, Gu En had thrown her bag onto her bed and walked over to her personal full body mirror. When she heard He Zhilan calling her, she glanced over, but didn’t say anything.
"Gu En, I misunderstood you the other day. I’m sorry for getting so angry and saying those hurtful things." He Zhilan apologized, knowing Gu En had heard her. Like He Teng said, apologizing wouldn’t cost her anything, but it might prevent Gu En from being hostile to her.
After all, they were dorm mates; although she was spending most of her time in the hospital taking care of He Teng, when He Teng recovered, she still had to come back to the dorm and live in the same room with Gu En. He Teng was right - antagonizing Gu En wouldn’t do her any good, all she needed was to maintain a normal roommate relationship with her.
"As long as you know you were wrong!" Gu En replied with a cold snort. Her tone was proud but she did turn her head back to look at Zhilan. After some thought, she seemed to want to ease the tension between them and asked, "How’s your brother doing?"
"He’s okay, recovering well." Even though Gu En’s words were hurtful that day, Zhilan didn’t expect an apology from Gu En, let alone her taking back her words.
"Brother Lan Li will be discharged in a few days!" Gu En smiled with a hint of pride, "When Brother Lan Li gets discharged, I’ll go pick him up and visit your brother."
Actually, He Zhilan wanted to say it was unnecessary, but looking at Gu En’s demeanor, it wouldn’t make a difference even if she said it, so she simply kept quiet. After all, with Gu En’s character, who knows if she might change her mind by then.
Zhilan’s initiative to apologize and make up with Gu En was a relief to Jiang Biyun and Chen Xiting. If someone in the dorm had a fight, it would change the whole atmosphere, especially when it was someone like Gu En, who would pick a fight with anyone when she was unhappy. No matter what anyone said or did, she would have a retort or a sarcastic comment. She seemed to enjoy seeing others unhappy.
It’s fair to say that the ones who suffered most after He Zhilan and Gu En’s argument were Huang Cai and Wang Bingbing. From the time they entered Capital University, they had been carefully protecting their remaining dignity, but in the past few days, Gu En’s sarcastic digs had left them in tears on multiple occasions.
