Chapter 3620: Terms Of Conversation
At this moment, many people were wondering if the High Seraph had refrained from attacking Boundless because he had long been aware of Lu Yin’s true power. Could even the High Seraph lack the confidence to defeat Lu Yin? Was that why he had preemptively stopped the invasion of the Tianyuan Megaverse?
Those suspicions seemed to be gaining credibility, and even Rong Xiang was starting to believe them.
While speaking to Lu Yin, the man had adopted the most humble demeanor that he could conceive of. Lu Yin was different from other Seraphs; he was lawless and ignored all rules.
Lu Yin casually grunted. "You’re pretty eloquent. Keep going."
Rong Xiang froze briefly, his mind racing as he searched for flattering words that he had heard others use in the past. Awkwardly, he tried, "Seraph Lu’s... um... power is as vast as the boundless megaverse. Immea... immeasurable, and also like..."
"Enough. Too sloppy and unoriginal," Lu Yin interrupted, unimpressed.
Rong Xiang immediately apologized. Mentally, he resolved to gather some experts in flattery as soon as he returned home. This was something he needed to train in.
Does Seraph Lu enjoy listening to flattery?
Many powerful individuals enjoyed such things, but did someone at Seraph Lu’s level even need to hear flattery? Suddenly, Rong Xian was reminded of Old Tao; that old fox had mastered the art. Yes, Seraph Lu must already be used to hearing flattery from him. If someone could do it better, would it be possible to replace Old Tao?
Rong Xiang felt pathetic. He, the vice president of the Daquan Domain’s Chamber of Commerce, a powerful Ortuser, was thinking about how he could master the art of flattery. Even worse, he found the idea quite tempting.
"Lord Seraph Lu, all of our profits from acting as a bookkeeper will be sent to Boundless. The Chamber of Commerce is honored to be able to serve you," Rong Xiang continued.
Lu Yin arched a brow. "All of the profits? Wasn't the agreement for just sixty percent?"
Rong Xiang smiled. "All of them. Consider this a token of our sincerity."
Lu Yin chuckled. "Not bad. I accept. You’re definitely more efficient than Yi Shang."
"Thank you for your praise, my lord," Rong Xiang hurried to reply. The submissive tone felt all too natural. He had often spoken in such a tone when speaking to Yi Shang before becoming an Ortuser. After that last breakthrough, even someone like Yi Shang had to show Rong Xiang a measure of respect, so it had been a long, long time since he had adopted such servility.
"The Sima Chamber of Commerce and the Hundred Leaf Trade Association both appreciate your care," Lu Yin mentioned casually.
Rong Xiang carefully replied, "Such is nothing more than my duty. Please don’t worry, Lord Seraph Lu."
Lu Yin looked back at the man. "If you find any traces of Yi Shang, feel free to inform me. If you don't want to, that’s also fine."
Rong Xiang’s face twitched slightly. He had no idea how to properly respond to such a comment.
Lu Yin chuckled and touched Rong Xiang’s shoulder.
Rong Xiang did not dare move out of the way. It was the same gesture yet again... Was this really what had led to President Yi Shang being found?
"Go on back."
Rong Xiang let out a breath of relief as he bowed again. "Understood. I’ll take my leave now."
Lu Yin nodded.
Rong Xiang remained respectful as he left.
The Spirit Origin realm, which the Tianyuan Megaverse called the Origin realm, had once been regarded as an unattainable level. Even Progenitor Xi had carved a monument in the Mirari Realm to commemorate the achievement.
Despite that, such powerhouses currently had to show total deference to Lu Yin. Such was reality for cultivators. Such was life.
Old Yu arrived from a different direction, his expression complicated as he gazed at Lu Yin.
Lu Yin turned to the old man, a hint of smile playing at his lips.
"Congratulations, Lord Lu," Old Yu said.
Lu Yin’s smile grew ambiguous. "It was fine. Just a bit tiring."
Old Yu sighed. "You truly do possess the strength needed to challenge the High Seraph. I am impressed."
Lu Yin shrugged in an unconcerned manner. "That doesn't stop an old fox like you from scheming against me again and again."
Old Yu chuckled. "At your level, Lord Lu, there are certain matters that are not worth concerning yourself with."
Lu Yin's expression suddenly turned serious. "I am concerned about a great deal."
Old Yu had never known how to properly communicate with Lu Yin. During their very first meeting, the old man had realized that it was incredibly difficult to hold a conversation with Lu Yin. However, as Lu Yin’s victories piled up and his reputation for being invincible had grown, things had only grown worse. Lu Yin currently gave off a feeling of having separated himself from the masses. It was an arrogance that indicated that he simply did not care about what others had to say.
Old Yu was the lord of the Wisdom Domain; when had he ever been ignored in such a manner?
Still, the old man had no choice but to try to change the subject. "Lord Lu, when did you learn the Nine Heavens Transformation?"
Lu Yin clasped his hands behind his back. "Just now."
"Just now?" Old Yu grew puzzled.
Lu Yin replied, "I saw Emperor Wu use it and learned it from him. I have an innate gift that allows me to master any battle technique or cultivation method just by seeing it."
Old Yu was left speechless. "To use the Nine Heavens Transformation, one must split apart the Nine Heavens."
"Is that difficult? You just need to do that for yourself," Lu Yin casually responded.
Old Yu was assaulted by a terrible headache. He was well aware that Lu Yin was lying. After all, earlier, he had claimed to have learned about the Nine Heavens Transformation from Old Yu himself. Lu Yin was clearly skilled in being able to quickly reply with a clever, deflective answer.
Old Yu had already noticed that Lu Yin had split apart the Nine Heavens with a different method than Emperor Wu.
Emperor Wu had split apart the Nine Heavens in the standard manner, but what about Lu Yin? He had used his consciousness as the foundation. That was not something that could be accomplished with just a day or two, nor was it an alternative that could be easily arrived at.
Not even the High Seraph had done such a thing, and yet Lord Lu had. There was no way that Lu Yin had learned the Nine Heavens Transformation during the few days of fighting against Emperor Wu.
As for precisely how long it had taken him, no one had any idea.
If Emperor Wu had not used the Nine Heavens Transformation, it would still be a complete secret that Lu Yin had obtained the technique.
The Nine Heavens Transformation was no ordinary battle technique. Throughout the entire Spirit Nidus, only the High Seraph and Yu Shan had ever learned the technique, and Yu Shan had directly learned it directly from the High Seraph himself. If the High Seraph had not helped him split apart the Nine Heavens, Yu Shan would have never been able to learn it.
Splitting apart the Nine Heavens was the first step to learning the Nine Heavens Transformation, and it required another’s help.
Old Yu could not make any sense of the situation. Who had helped Lu Yin split apart the Nine Heavens? For that matter, who had helped Emperor Wu?
Even without the Nine Heavens Transformation, Emperor Wu already had more power than any of the other Seven Seraphs. For someone to be able to help Emperor Wu split apart the Nine Heavens, their strength had to be exceptional.
"Is that all you wanted to ask? Why not ask Emperor Wu? Maybe both of us will give you the same answer," Lu Yin continued, hoping to stir things up even more. This was exactly why he had revealed that he could use the Nine Heavens Transformation.
Emperor Wu had mastered the Nine Heavens Transformation, and so had Lu Yin. What sort of conclusion would the Spirit Nidus come to? What would the High Seraph think? What would Old Yu think? The stagnant pool that was their megaverse was destined to be stirred up.
Old Yu was taken aback. "Emperor Wu isn’t dead?"
Lu Yin shook his head. "It isn’t so easy to kill that old freak. There’s still life in him."
Old Yu was puzzled. "If that’s the case, why did you let him go, Lord Lu?"
Lu Yin met Old Yu’s eyes. "What are you saying? Do you have some sort of grudge against him?"
"Of course not. I have no desire for Emperor Wu to die. Should he pass, the beast-form Spirit Rebirths will descend into chaos. Still, given your methods, Lord Lu, if Emperor Wu has survived, then why not capture him? That’s what you did with Golden Roc and the others."
"That’s not a hobby of mine. Emperor Wu deserves my respect."
Old Yu took a long look at Lu Yin. Deserves your respect? What a joke. Clearly, you have some sort of scheme behind this.
When Lu Yin had spared Qianmen Feidu, Old Yu had not immediately understood Lu Yin’s motives. Only later had the old man realized that Lu Yin had used Qianmen Feidu to put pressure on the hidden heir. The goal was to interfere in the struggle between the Wisdom Domain’s public heir and hidden heir. Some other scheme had to be involved for Lu Yin to spare Emperor Wu.
Right, the Nine Heavens Transformation.
Old Yu suddenly understood as he stared at Lu Yin. "You intend to use Emperor Wu."
Lu Yin had never expected such a simple ploy to deceive Old Yu. Anyone with a keen mind would be able to see through the matter. But so what if they did? The fact remained that Emperor Wu had mastered the Nine Heavens Transformation, which meant that people would need to seek him out. Lu Yin was hiding nothing at all.
Since Lu Yin refused to offer up any information, people would be forced to verify things with Emperor Wu.
Lu Yin did not bother denying anything. Everyone that he dealt with was intelligent, which meant that there was no need to spell things out for them.
Old Yu praised, “Peerless talent, fated opportunities, and a mind that leaves no detail overlooked. Lord Lu, people like you are truly dangerous.”
Lu Yin stared at Old Yu. "I’ll accept the compliment, but I still won’t tell you who helped me split apart the Nine Heavens."
Old Yu stared at Lu Yin with growing intensity. "There is a price for everything."
Lu Yin raised a single finger. "One person."
"Who?"
"Jiu Xian."
Old Yu was shocked. "Jiu Xian?"
Lu Yin stared off into the distance. He was looking directly at where Jiu Xian had stood, though she had already left. That woman would never willingly face Lu Yin directly.
"If you want to talk, bring Jiu Xian with you," Lu Yin said.
Old Yu frowned. "I don’t understand. Why pull Jiu Xian into our affairs? She has never taken part in any of the Spirit Nidus’s internal conflicts. From the day she made a name for herself, she’s lived a carefree life. She’s never even competed for any resources. What connection could you have with her, Lord Lu?"
Lu Yin scoffed. "Old man, drop the act. Given that her presence was my request, do you really think that I know nothing? You know exactly why.
"If you hadn’t noticed, that would be one thing, but since you’ve already seen through things, are you really still going to try to stay hidden in the shadows and scheme against me? Do you think that I’ve been too merciful?" As he spoke, Lu Yin slowly raised a finger and pointed it at Old Yu. "Do you believe me when I say that one finger could completely erase you?"
Old Yu’s eye twitched. "If I vanish, who will help your megaverse?"
Lu Yin smirked. "Has it ever crossed your mind that I might have received the Nine Heavens Transformation from the High Seraph?"
Old Yu’s eyes instantly flared. Impossible.
The moment that Lu Yin had revealed that he knew the Nine Heavens Transformation, Old Yu had already ruled out that possibility because he was too familiar with the High Seraph. Even if Lu Yin was the invincible being’s disciple, it was impossible to force the High Seraph to help Lu Yin form the Nine Heavens.
Unless... the invincible being personally forced the High Seraph.
But... would he do that?
Even if Lu Yin was telling the truth, where had Emperor Wu learned the Nine Heavens Transformation? Could he have also received it from the High Seraph? That would make the entire matter a complete joke.
The High Seraph was already on the verge of overcoming Dukkha. To break through to the Immortal realm, he only had one option: reset a megaverse. Would such a being create opponents for himself and use their power to ascend further? That was also impossible.
There was absolutely no chance for either Emperor Wu or Lu Yin to have learned the Nine Heavens Transformation from the High Seraph. None at all.
Old Yu was completely confident this deduction was correct.
Despite that, Lu Yin continued to smile at the old man in a playful, knowing way.
The longer Lu Yin smiled, the more uncertain Old Yu felt. The greatest variable in his calculations was the invincible being.
Could that individual have forced the High Seraph to split apart the Nine Heavens for Lu Yin? If even that was possible, then what else was? Just what exactly was the invincible being planning?
Old Yu remained silent.
Lu Yin dropped his arm and turned away. "As I already said, bring Jiu Xian along if you want to talk. You only get one chance."
With that, he disappeared.
Staring into empty space, Old Yu’s expression grew complicated. Lu Yin had just defeated Emperor Wu, claiming the title of the strongest Seraph without any doubt. If the young man was from the Spirit Nidus, then many things would be far easier to discuss. The problem was that Lu Yin belonged to the Tianyuan Megaverse.
Clearly, the young man knew something, but just what did he know? If he really was the invincible being’s disciple, it was possible that Lu Yin had already been told everything. However, if that were true, then why would Lu Yin need to ask Old Yu? And if the invincible being had not told Lu Yin certain things, then how had he deduced the truth? The Spirit Nidus had not left any traces behind that could expose such secrets.
In the distance, the gathered cultivators slowly started to disperse.
The beasts of the Primal Beastland silently carried Emperor Wu away. Not a word was said by any of them.
Zhan Ming and the other Seraphs also departed, solemn expressions on their faces.
