Chapter 1156: The Wisdom of Monster Spirits (II)
Just look at my family! We’ve been placing our bets with the age’s sovereign ever since land was separated from the sea. No one speaks ill of us, they say that we are honest and upright. If Li Hao succeeds, will anyone laugh at us for being opportunistic?
No!
They will only praise my keen eye for talent, that I agreed to everything Li Hao asked as soon as he arrived, despite me being a Saint. I asked for nothing in return and wouldn’t even have mentioned retaining the position of Sea Pacification Envoy, if I didn’t want to scare off Li Hao with my eagerness. How would the master of a world forget something like this when recognizing deeds of merit after battle?
It’s good that he’s run into a strong enemy! The stronger the enemy, the better!
Empyrean King is great! Li Hao would be able to take care of the enemy by himself if it was a Saint! It’s because he’s going against an Empyrean King that he needs my help!
The fiercer this battle is, the better! Of course, the precursor is that there’s no danger to our lives. The fiercer it is, the more it’ll highlight how important I am and how great the price I’m paying is!
Also, there seems to be a dog by Li Hao’s side. That’s mixed breed descendant of countless generations from the Monster Spirit Envoy!
Capsize Sea was quite irritated by that bloodline. It was another monster spirit lineage with a highly illustrious history. Their forefather was a heavenly dog nurtured by the world. They were already very prosperous in the age of the nine emperors and four sovereigns, and they continued to be renowned when the second generation Monster Spirit Envoy served under the Human King.
When it came to this age, there were still mixed breed descendants of that line around. The Monster Spirit Envoy itself had been of mixed blood—Panther was mixed blood of mixed blood. It’d returned to its origins halfway through its cultivation, but deviated to a dog bloodline.
The Monster Spirit Envoy was not a dog; it even possessed a horn on its head. This lineage was the only one that matched Capsize Sea’s family when it came to glory and honor!
Am I still to be suppressed by this bloodline even in this generation?
No way!
The heavenly dog had overcome Capsize Sea’s forefather and the Monster Spirit Envoy had overcome Unbounded Strength—Capsize Sea’s grandfather. Was it going to follow family tradition and be unable to overpower a small, mixed breed dog?
A myriad of thoughts ran through both Capsize Sea and Li Hao’s mind.
“Then... is the senior willing to make a trip to the new dao universe with me?” the young man asked after a long silence.
“The new dao universe??” Capsize Sea’s eyes widened. Damn, this is good treatment! I’ve only just joined your banner, but you trust me enough to take me around the dao universe! So it looks like my family’s reputation in the outside world is truly upright and honest!
The new dao universe?” he repeated, putting on a demure front. “No no, this wouldn’t be appropriate!”
Li Hao shook his head and frowned to himself. Can it be... that it knows why I want to do so... or that it’s contaminated with Red Moon power?
No wonder it accepted everything so quickly!
“But since Commander Li has invited me, I simply must accept!” Capsize Sea immediately added while Li Hao hesitated. “This humble one will follow the commander! Do not worry, the dao universe is too far removed for me. I have no desire to seize it for myself!
“No one had such charisma as to take over the dao universe in the one hundred thousand years we were asleep. Then it isn’t just me, but the half step emperors and even exalted emperors that cannot do so. The dao universe was also waiting for the right person to come. It’s clear to see that the commander was the only right person after one hundred thousand years!”
Now that really wasn’t the case!
Li Hao laughed. When it came down to who visited the dao universe inside first, it was his teacher, not him. Of course, there was no need to go into these details at the moment. Since the monster spirit had agreed, then they would proceed accordingly.
The young man tore open the firmament. Capsize Sea promptly followed him in. Some thunder and lightning rumbled when the golden cow darted into the dao universe. Li Hao’s expression shifted greatly, whereas the monster spirit was confused. It permitted the tiny lightning bolts to strike its hide while it looked at Li Hao, baffled.
The young man looked back at it. The weak Red Moon power was outright smashed apart. Nothing happened to Capsize Sea, whereas Li Hao was perplexed.
It was truly very, very weak Red Moon power, pointing to an accidental contamination. It hadn’t done anything to Capsize Sea, but... where had the energy come from? The monster spirit had been in its residence all this time and didn’t set a foot out for one hundred thousand years.
Been in its residence and overseeing the Forbidden Sea...
The Forbidden Sea...
Ying Hongyue!
Ying Hongyue seemed to have discovered the source of the Forbidden Sea when he was in Great Li. He’d been up to no good in that nation, but the young man still didn’t know what his arch nemesis had done.
Capsize Sea being affected by a bit of Red Moon power was very possibly the power from Ying Hongyue! There were the bloodlines of the eight families and a bit of Red Moon power inside Ying Hongyue. The two sides were evenly matched.
But why was his Red Moon power present in the Forbidden Sea? It shouldn’t stem from the Red Moon exalted emperor. His influence should not stretch so far. Only Ying Hongyue could influence Capsize Sea through the Forbidden Sea.
“This is thunder and lightning from the great dao,” Li Hao explained. “It is exorcising evil power and bequeathing you with a gift in return.”
“I see!” The monster spirit nodded upon inhaling some great dao power. “No wonder it tingles like a massage. It’s very comfortable! But... there was evil power in my body? That’s strange...”
Capsize Sea perceived the fading energy and rummaged through its memories. “I haven’t absorbed energy in many years, so this special energy... is from the Forbidden Sea?
“There were unique energy ripples from it a few days ago—probably from the source. Someone may be doing something there. I wanted to notify you, but couldn’t find you!
“If you have time, you can investigate this unique evil power. It may not just be here, it may have spread to all of the Forbidden Sea. Someone may be extracting the sea’s power and releasing this energy in its place...”
Releasing Red Moon power?
Why was Ying Hongyue releasing Red Moon power into the Forbidden Sea and taking away its strength instead? Was the Red Moon power affecting him? Or did he have other plans in mind?
Various possibilities floated to the fore. Li Hao took another look at Capsize Sea, reassured when it seemed that the monster spirit wasn’t that affected or cared about this development.
“What does the senior think of this great dao universe?”
“It is vast and boundless. Although it is newly born, it holds great potential!” Capsize Sea was a Saint at the end of the day and a descendant of an exalted emperor. It knew what to do as the Silver Moon Sea Pacification Envoy—this didn’t really count as flattery! “It is a marvelous place and a wonderful great dao!
“Much of it needs to be excavated, yet it is already quite fantastic as a newly born dao! The commander are the first to discover and travel through it. The dao universe is open to you, regular people can’t enter it! You are unmatched in being able to bring people into it!
“But it’s an immense waste if you only bring people into it...”
Li Hao was perplexed by the last line. The monster spirit knew that he might not understand, so explained further.
“The Green Emperor—the august personage who jointly ruled the world with the Human King—also managed to count as a monster spirit. It once journeyed through core origin dao and was one of the few powerhouses to do so. It naturally grows stronger even without cultivation. The Green Emperor becomes stronger with every passing second...
“You... do not seem to have sensed the true meaning of the dao universe! You should keep a constant connection with the dao universe so that power from the great dao can flow into you at any moment!”
“I have the dao meridians and supernatural characters,” Li Hao blinked. “I can continuously draw energy from the Hao Cosmos...”
“That is an active absorption, I’m talking about passive absorption. This is the kind where energy flows into your body even when you’re not cultivating.”
“But how is that possible? How can energy enter my body when I’m not cultivating?” The idea seemed incomprehensible.
“Ah, you don’t understand.” Capsize Sea’s interest was piqued. “You must find the axis of rotation for the great dao...”
“The what?”
“The universe is rotating!” explained the monster spirit. “The dao universe is rotating as well, albeit very slowly, but it’s rotating all the same. If it rotates, then it possesses an axis of rotation like the middle of the sea. The heart of the sea is very calm, but some seawater and energy will seep out of it. They are the purest of pure!
“You need to locate the axis of rotation according to the laws of the dao universe. Once you do, cut a small opening in it and stabilize it with the foundation of great dao. In this way, you will become the core of the dao universe! Each of its revolutions will deliver unbounded energy to you!
“This is the perfect time to do so because the dao universe is very weak. I would not have you do so if it was stronger because you are too weak. The surge of unlimited energy into your body with each revolution would kill you!
“But now, the weak dao universe is a perfect match for you. It was basically born for you!
“The Green Emperor was once the heart of the dao universe, so it grew stronger even when it slept! You can be the same... All paths lead to the same destination, so it’s all the same logic at the end of the day!”
Li Hao shook at the notion of growing stronger while he slept. He scanned the various sectors. So the universe and great dao rotated? All of these stars that didn’t look like they were moving were actually shifting around? It was just that the human eye could identify the pattern with which they moved with, was it?
Possibilities manifested in the young man’s mind. Passively cultivating while energy surged into him would save so much time. He could siphon off the great dao’s power bit by bit. Could such a lovely prospect truly exist?
He was tempted to modify his most pressing plans.
“Also, your dao universe’s defenses are too weak...” Capsize Sea assessed after looking around again.
“Defenses?” Li Hao started. Did a dao universe need defenses?
“Aren’t you afraid of powerhouses tracking you here when you take shelter in the dao universe?” the monster spirit responded with confusion. “This dao universe has not reached the state of invincibility and cannot directly kill trespassers yet. Even though it targeted the evil power just now, once your enemy is very—such as an exalted emperor, the universe may not be able to withstand him!
“Not to mention, it doesn’t reject the New Martial dao that strongly. Once someone barges in and finds their footing, they may very well kill you in here! This dao universe should be your trump card instead...”
“Trump card?” Li Hao was as if a student in this moment, listening raptly and stunned by the revelations.
“Of course, you need to learn how to stabilize the opening and not just randomly tear into the firmament again and again. You need to set up an airtight trap around the entrance, one that will permit you to escape if the enemy doesn’t follow you. Once they do, you can spring the trap to kill them!”
