Stand By Me Darling
Chapter 87: Any Message?

Chapter 87: Any Message?

Talia locked her bedroom and sat on the bed kneading her forehead. She didn’t know what’s going on anymore.

Arthur had returned her keys he took with him when he left in the morning and he didn’t even pass a letter to Jordan and just asked him to get his luggage.

And Jordan... That guy, he isn’t even stepping inside her home and just standing outside for her to get Arthur’s luggage. She wasn’t willing to beg him to get in and so she left him out and only invited Lambert in.

Well, whatever!

Talia collected herself and stood up and neatly packed Arthur’s bag. That’s the only way she knew how to pack! She was a little disappointed she is being kept in the dark, but she was more sad that she won’t be able to touch Arthur any sooner.

’Fred, you idiot! Why are you leaving without even kissing me good bye?’ she grumbled in her heart as she packed.

And as she packed, she saw that odd printed boxer he wore the other day and she couldn’t help but laugh.

’That was a good day!’

There were some of his clothes in the dryer and she went out and noticed that Lambert is also out in the hallway seemingly talking to someone over the phone. It probably Louis, she could gather by the way he spoke.

Talia took a deep breath and finished the packing. She still couldn’t understand what’s going on anymore, but she still had faith that everything will work out well in the end.

As she closed her closet, she got reminded of that day she screamed at him and her eyes ended up on her vanity table.

She opened the drawer and pulled out the box and opened the compartment where she kept the ring she bought for him. She didn’t even notice the gold locket slipping from the box onto her bed.

Talia looked at the ring in the palm of her hand and remembered how happy he looked as he wore that ring when she caught him that day. And the face he made when he removed the ring, made her heart clench.

’I really was pretty mean to him that day...’

"Is it ready?"

Talia heard Jordan asking from outside.

"A minute..."

She answered and hurriedly searched for a box to keep the ring in. She pulled out her personalised notepad from an exquisite and classic brand and wrote using a fountain pen.

She ignored Jordan hurrying her and concentrated on her writing. Her hands moved softly on the paper as the ink made its mark on the paper, expressing her thoughts. Her lips curled to a smile as she saw the ink dry and she folded the paper after spraying her perfume on the paper and put it inside the box.

After placing the box in a secure place, she closed his luggage and rolled the bag to Jordan.

"He didn’t leave any message?" she asked. She really didn’t think he’d leave without a word.

Jordan looked at Talia looking terrible... The most dishevelled he had ever seen. Still in her ruined clothes and messy hair, she looked rather pitiful.

Not to mention, that guy looked like he was possessed by a demon.

Early in the morning, that guy knocked on his door and he was a bit scared looking at that enraged and extremely stressed Arthur.

Arthur sat there on the couch for sometime deeply contemplating, while he cleaned himself up.

"I hurt her," he said and refused to elaborate on it.

"I’ll have to end her suffering," he then said and Jordan still couldn’t understand what he said.

That time they received confirming news that both the organisations were making a move on the same day and that too in the Levitt Centre of the city.

Arthur tried to contact her but her phone was out of reach and at first they didn’t think much of it.

Arthur didn’t speak much but was in serious contemplation for sometime and he said only part of his plans for that day to Jordan.

Arthur made a trip to the Rosandale Embassy in the capital city and had early breakfast with Prince Lambert to arrange for her safety.

Jordan was asked to make contact with the Lockhart family as he already tracked Cyril Lockhart in the city. Cyril refused to meet him at first but Jordan had to use his sister’s (who happens to be Cyril’s girlfriend) influence. Even then Cyril didn’t go to much details but he assured that he could find out the person behind the attack on her to ensure her future safety.

And by what Cyril insinuated, it seemed like Cyril believed that person now wanting Talia dead, had a hand in Cyrus’ death too.

Cyril wanted to not inform of all these plans to Talia so that she’d act normal when she goes out with her friend. Cyril promised Talia’s safety on the honour of their family name.

Even though Jordan had no reason to doubt the abilities of the Lockhart family, he still decided to be on the safe side and inform Talia so she’d be vigilant. But he couldn’t connect to her. He just found it odd and informed Cyril of this detail fearing there might be something fishy going on.

They are in a city and for her phone to not have network coverage, it really is odd and especially when there is a threat to her life.

And just then, he didn’t know how but Arthur returned back. Jordan could only think of teleportation.

Arthur didn’t explain much and both of them went straight to the Apollo International Building to meet with Graham and force him to retract his mercenaries.

The less enemies the better.

But to their miscalculation, the riots started earlier than they anticipated and it became hard for them to even cross the street.

"Thank goodness I hired those other guys," he mumbled and Jordan was bewildered seeing that beastly expression Arthur donned as he pushed through the riot.

It was like staring at an angel of death! Frightening!

He didn’t care for his life as he pushed through the crowd, punching and pushing.

Arthur initially wanted to enter the Olympus Building to get to her. But there wasn’t a single gap to get in and so they went to the building in the back where the shots were heard.

As they went in, there were gun fights between two gangs of people and only then Jordan realised Arthur had hired an organisation just to eliminate the other organisation here.

But there were still shots fired from the upper level and it seemed like the person holding the weapon could anticipate their arrival and he manoeuvred skillfully.

It took a lot of effort to get to that bastard and Arthur without even thinking twice, charged the man holding a rifle with his fist.

When Jordan looked through the window, he saw Talia with a weapon in her hand standing stiffly, closing her eyes as if she was accepting her death.

But he was distracted by the grunting noise of a man on the floor. That man with the rifle was on the floor with Arthur above him, punching his face.

Jordan tried to get to him, but before he did, what left was a mangled and bloodied man on the floor. His skull might have cracked and his brain might have spilled out.

Jordan wasn’t sure.

Jordan knew Arthur was ruthless but he had never seen Arthur use his own hand before. Arthur’s right hand wasn’t better off. His knuckle bones seemed to be exposed by the force he used.

’Dude lost his sanity for a moment, didn’t he? Was it because Talia was involved?’

Jordan had heard through rumours floating around that he killed his brother, but he never believed it till today. If Ray actually tried something on Talia, Arthur definitely would have killed him.

That dead guy on the ground with his bead smashed, didn’t even have a chance to even say anything. But it is not important since he wouldn’t have given any details even if he was asked. He probably wouldn’t even know who hired him.

And after that for some odd reason, Arthur, using his non-dominant hand, started shooting at Talia.

Jordan could only think that he was using that hand because he can only use that hand for now since his other hand was hurt.

But still Jordan couldn’t understand why he was crossing his fingers in his right hand even when he couldn’t hold his fingers crossed and his hand was trembling out of pain as he was shooting with his other hand.

Jordan got down on the ground as there were bullets incoming and he knew Talia is safe now that Prince Lambert came for her.

As the helicopter left, Jordan was searching the dead man on the floor if he had something that could be of use.

And as he looked above, Arthur with his left hand pointing at the helicopter had that pleasant smile he only has seen when he talked about Talia.

"Screw you Frederick!" she shouted and even Jordan could hear it.

The wind displaced by the helicopter rotors, made Arthur’s hair wave and the bright light from outside, made his eyes look like jade beads. He looked like an angel in human form. But who knew he was an angel of death?

But is he in a celebratory mood?

Jordan knew how much that name angered Arthur. He once transfered a man to nowhere because he dared to call him by this name.

But when she calls it, he makes this face?

Weird!

And after the helicopter left, Arthur was in deep contemplation and Jordan didn’t dare to disturb him. He has found this deep fear for this man he thought he knew.

He even felt bad for the times he had talked bad about Talia in front of him. Will he hold him accountable?

"Go bring my luggage. Don’t you dare talk about anything happened here and do not even think about entering her house."

Jordan felt his heart tremble by the tone he used and he only nodded getting the keys he gave.

He did ask Arthur to at least say something to her before leaving to avoid any misunderstandings with her but he didn’t say anything.

And so he is here. He didn’t know what’s happening either. He wasn’t supposed to say anything to her.
