Stand By Me Darling
Chapter 85: Getting Back

Chapter 85: Getting Back

Talia secured the headphone provided to her and rolled her eyes.

’Should I hear his voice immediately after putting this on?’

"You seem to be disappointed," Talia with her lips pursed, shifted her glance towards the man now sitting beside her with a grin.

"Huh?" he waved his hand like he was shooing off a mosquito and stood and walked to the door pointing his weapon and Talia pulled him back, holding his arms.

"What are you..." he tried to make her relent her grip but failed.

"Moron!" he sneered and came back to his seat before darting a look outside the window.

*ping*

A bullet ended up hitting right near the door and Lambert’s bodyguards pulled him back, securing the him and fired back for sometime.

Talia didn’t see much when she looked out, but it seemed like Arthur was turning to leave and even at that distance, she could say that he was not in a good mood seeing his stiff shoulders. There were some men following him and Jordan wasn’t there.

What happened?

’ Is there something going on between these two?’ Talia looked at Lambert who seemed to be in a pretty good mood and thought.

’Whatever!’

Talia removed his coat from her shoulders and returned it to him and he looked at her weirdly without saying anything.

"The stinky scent makes me want to... sneeze ," Talia placed the coat on his lap and she could hear him grit his teeth even in her headphones.

"Blame me for pitying you and provide my favourite coat, seeing you were shivering like an injured orangutan."

"Orangutan?" Talia became furious and was about to refute him but held herself back seeing the other people inside the helicopter looking weirdly uncomfortable. She got reminded of her position.

And why does everyone have a headphone?

’I am the Royal Princess of a nation! I cannot act uncouth like this... giant ball of turd! I will not sink lower!’ Talia held back her anger and stared outside and that’s when she remembered something.

"Turn back! Turn back!"

She said hurriedly and stood up, "My coat,my phone... They’re still in the building..."

"Really now, MaryAnn? We cannot go back! Sit back... Don’t fall down. Or else I’ll have to answer great grandmother," he pushed her back to her seat.

"But I need it," Talia was adamant. She needed her phone to track the one who hacked her.

"I am the highest authority in this place. TURN BACK!"

Talia ordered and everyone stood in attention. Even the pilot steered the helicopter back.

She really is the one with the most highest status and so she is the highest authority.

"Have you gone mad?" Prince Lambert stopped the pilot from turning back, "Under the orders of Her Royal Highness, The Queen Dowager, the Royal Princess has to be brought back straight to safety. And that place is not safe!"

His light brown eyes weren’t wavering and he spoke calmly and firmly in a clear voice.

Talia sat back in her seat. Once the Queen Dowager’s name is invoked, no one would bother to go against it.

Her word is law!

" But I need my phone!" she grumbled and refused to get the water offered to her.

"And you were late... I was running scared for hours in there. I bet great grandma won’t be pleased to know that!"

Furrowing her brows, she looked at Prince Lambert.

"It was not hours! I was just ten minutes late."

He really was there in ten minutes the moment the riot started and there were already people sent to secure her. And his people monitoring her lost her and it seems like she had changed her clothes. And after that they followed her where the gun shots were heard but before they could take care of the shooters, someone else did.

It should be that Boswell monkey!

And so... How is everything my fault?

"I was the one running! I know how much I ran!" Talia still wasn’t giving up. She felt like she was running away for eternity. How could that be just ten minutes?

But as she pondered further, she knew deep in her heart, it could be only ten minutes. And yet, she would never agree to him!

"I’ll ask someone to get it for you," Prince Lambert in the end relented.

He knew if she complained to their great grandmother, she’d forget she’s the one who ordered him to get his cousin to safety and would scold him for not getting her what she wanted and making her suffer.

’ Stinky poo! Why should I be taking care of her? I’m not her brother!’ he cussed in his heart.

" Rebecca... My friend... She is in the jewellery store... We should save her..." Talia only then remembered Rebecca.

"Really? You were more worried for your phone than your friend," he sneered. "Remind me not to trust you ever again," he turned to the other side.

"Well, if you were the one with me, I’d have used you as a shield to get away," Talia curled her lips and looked to the other side to the window.

Rebecca is her friend. Her sorrowful face came to Talia’s memory. Rebecca even tried to help her by giving her firearm, knowing it might bring her troubles. There are strict gun control laws in the city and no one can borrow firearms.

"She’s the daughter-in-law of a Senator of this country. We cannot just abandon her there." she added.

If Lambert, the Prince of Rosandale is here in a helicopter painted with their flag to rescue her, he should be here using the proper channels.

Who knows? Even the President of this country might even be involved!

And if he leaves without offering help to her, with the position Joe’s father has, it definitely would affect the diplomatic relations between the two nations.

"The Secret Service of Senator Feldstein are already sent here to protect Mrs.Feldstein. They’ll get her to safety. And how long are you going to hold on to that weapon?"

Lambert got the gun from her hand and Talia was startled to realise she still didn’t realise she has it in her hand. Prince Lambert checked the magazine.

"You didn’t even shoot once?" he asked and Talia stared blankly at him before turning to look out through the window.

They were flying a little high above the buildings and everything looked small compared to how it would when she travels through a cab.

This is her life... Flying above everything...

The problems others face like financial problems for example... She has never been in dire need of money.

But... She is not better off than others. Its just, when you are so high up above, there will be just other kind of problems.

A single bird falling into the rotor of their helicopter might make them crash and burn.

There will be people spending millions, just to see you dead. To get what belongs to you.

She has to live fearing for her life forever.

Prince Lambert sighed seeing her going silent. She must have lost the contacts she wears and her blue eyes were shining brightly. That’s more like her. Silent and acting polite. An actor. But he never understand why people love her.

Even in his country, people approve more of her than him. He was the one who grew up there, being dutiful and working hard.

But this one who never returned since the Coronation... She is more loved! All because of their great grandmother... And her eyes!

Just her eyes that resemble their great grandfather, the most loved King in the recent history of Rosandale.

It is said in their country that whenever there are troubled times ahead, a great ruler with purple eyes will appear and save the Kingdom.

Her - a great king!

Huh!

I hate you, MaryAnn!

"He tried to hurt you. He hired an upstart mercenary organisation for a higher price and they were the ones shooting at you at the rooftop," Prince Lambert said.
