Stand By Me Darling -
Chapter 72: More Truths
Chapter 72: More Truths
And Talia wondered if she should tell him that she actually didn’t sleep with anyone else and he might have broken her hymen sometime before and so he is her first man.
But she felt unsure on how to tell him out of nowhere. She had made a big scene right now and probably did scare the guy a lot.
And she wondered if he really doesn’t care.
’Is it really not important to him? He should have known when he did it, right? Why isn’t he asking about it?’ she wondered.
’Is this a big issue? Should I really talk about it?’
Talia leaned on his chest, deliberating whether she should talk about it or not and without knowing she started playing with his chest hair.
Arthur was in deep thoughts as he planned on how to go further. Right now situation in Esteria is really bad and it won’t be wise to bring Talia there. But he was reluctant to leave her alone here either.
He looked down to see the woman leaning on him and his lips curved up to a gentle smile. Her naked body was pressing on him and he stopped himself from his vulgar thoughts knowing she would be so tired after crying so much.
But he couldn’t keep still and ran his finger through her hair. Her hair contrasted his fair skin and the softness of her hair was so comfortable. Her hair smelled so nice and also was so thick and straight and as his fingers slid through her hair, it felt a bit therapeutical for him.
He wanted to have her with him all the time so he could play with her hair all the time. That would be a really good stress relief.
The woman in his embrace seemed to be in deep thoughts herself as her slender fingers played with his chest hair and he really loved it.
He really felt at peace but then reminded at the rask at hand.
The reports he received about two mercenary organisations sending people to this city at the same time made him really skeptical.
They could probably here to take him down. There were some attempts on his life too in the past and he would be a much easier target since this country is not his home field. If that’s the case and those people are here for him, he felt bad for leading them to her.
Should I have not come here and stayed with her?
"Ah!"
His thoughts broke as he felt a little pain in his chest and Talia looked at him with her eyes wide and lips pouting.
"Sorry," Talia in her thoughts had accidentally pulled his hair a little too hard and so she apologised.
"Mmm," he bent and kissed her head.
If he didn’t come here, he wouldn’t have known she is still in love with him.
The stubborn her would have went on with her life, denying her love for him and he would have suffered alone too.
He lifted her up so her face is close to his face and looked in her eyes. It is amazing how soon the redness in her eyes had disappeared. Her swollen eyelids still had the charm that would make him swoon. Her full lips were inviting and had a slight smile that only added to her allure.
This woman... His Iris... The one he waited for all this time... She actually is his!
He wanted to continue where they left off before she pushed him away.
Looking at the man, holding insatiable passion in his eyes and body burning with desire, Talia suddenly remembered something.
"Fred... That day...I remember your brother had his lackeys record everything..."
"It’s all destroyed,"he hugged her as he couldn’t see those eyes filled with fear.
He knew how much of a private person she is and how much people used to be interested in her life. For that reason, she never allowed to have even a single picture with him and even the time they spent together will be always in closed quarters.
To be honest those close quarters gave them the opportunity to be hanky-panky.
And even with him, she never allowed to let him see her naked. He had touched her naked body but never once was he allowed to see even her belly or up her knees much less her private parts.
Arthur shivered remembering the position she was in when he entered his room that day. With all her clothes torn out and legs spread... That too in front of a man she hated... She would have been terrified that day. No wonder she decided to forget. Maybe it was her brain trying to protect herself.
Talia was relieved. The last thing she’d need in her life is some naked pictures of hers surfacing out of nowhere. She was a minor back then and the laws are severe for those kind of offenses not to mention, her family would destroy that person releasing those pictures and so no one would dare to but still... As a woman, she was terrified of such incidents.
Once a picture is out on the Internet, it would live forever one way or another.
"I’m sorry for everything my family put you through, Iris"
Arthur wanted to tell her this for a long time but he never had the chance.
True, the enmity between the two families spanned for centuries. But as far as he knew the last thing the Brunton family did against his family is his hand in his grandmother’s death and also his plans to sabotage his grandfather’s chance to be the president.
But the Sinclair family... They hurt the Bruntons up until recently. His brother hurt her deeply.
"Yeah... It’s unfortunate..." Talia could feel the sincerity in his words and didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. They were born into those feuds and it is better these days and maybe they should forget the past.
"You sure your family has nothing to do with Cyrus’..."
Talia really couldn’t forget the warning Cyrus gave.
"I’m sure." Arthur pulled her closer. "After your mother’s death leading to my grandfather’s demise... My father never once tried to continue the feud. It was Ray who was close to my grandfather who followed his footsteps and acted up with some of those who followed my grandfather religiously. And even then my brother wouldn’t have been that smart. " he spoke truthfully and kissed her head, sniffing in her scent.
His father told him recently that Jerome Brunton arranged for the best brain surgeon in the world for his mother even without the knowledge of his involvement to the Sinclair family to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings. Jerome knew the Sinclair family would refuse treatment from that doctor if they knew he arranged his visit to Esteria at that time.
But even that doctor couldn’t help his mother in the end.
His father recalled Jerome saying that he wouldn’t wish the death of a spouse even on his enemy and that he realised it after the passing of his wife. Arthur’s father told that Jerome wanted to take his act of getting that neurosurgeon for his mother as an act of atonement for his hand in his grandmother’s death.
It seems like Jerome really wanted to stop the feud...but his family...
"My mother’s death?"
Talia was new to that information.
How was her mother’s death led to his grandfather’s death? As far as she knew her mother died in complications during childbirth.
"Yeah, it was my uncle who ambushed your mother on her way to hospital, right? And in the end, the Council sent my uncle to the firing squad as retribution for the lost life of two against the protests of my grandfather. And since my uncle was the golden child of the family and my grandfather’s favourite..."
As Arthur spoke he could feel Talia slowly getting out of his embrace and distancing herself from him.
