Stand By Me Darling
Chapter 69: Memories (2)

Chapter 69: Memories (2)

Arthur felt like someone sucked all the life out of him slowly as she said all those words sharper than any knife that ruthlessly stabbed his heart and tore it to million pieces.

Me? She is asking me all that?

No she is not asking, she had already decided I did all that.

How could she?

How could she even believe for one second I’d hurt her?

He couldn’t feel himself anymore when she finished talking and she looked pale as a sheet of paper too.

"You’re asking me why? Me?"

He could feel his voice breaking down and his throat hurt as he speak.

And seeing her with no change in her expression looking at him coldly like she was looking at a stranger... No, she’d never look at a stranger like that. She’d be polite with people she doesn’t know. She looks at people she despised like she is looking at me now.

Why? What did I do to deserve this?

He walked to her still staring at him without even moving an inch or even blinking her eyes. He felt his entire body numb and stiff. He had never felt like this before.

He wanted to make sure this is not a nightmare. He wanted to touch something and make sure he is not living a nightmare...

He grabbed her by the shoulder covered with the duvet and he could see the slight reaction in her face.

It’s not a dream! She actually balmed me.

He gritted his teeth and grabbing her shoulders pulled her closer to him.

He could see her eyebrows twitching and her eyes watering. But the coldness in her eyes only deepened as she gritted her teeth.

"How dare you?" he gritted his teeth and held her tighter. He couldn’t bear to see her eyes that despised him.

He was so angry but even then he couldn’t actually hurt her.

"How could you say that about me? You are saying that to me? How could you?"

He pushed her on the bed and laid above her. One of his arms was around her neck and he placed his other hand on the top of her head as he hugged her.

His eyes clouded and he could see his tears dripping on the sheets one after the other.

She laid under him like a log without moving and he could hear her breathing. It didn’t seem normal to him.

" Shout at me, hit me... Hell, you are allowed to even kill me. I won’t mind. But don’t ever accuse me of hurting you, Talia"

He let go of her and got up using his hands and saw her still lying silently. His eyes were still clouded and he couldn’t see the expression she was making.

"Don’t ever"

He repeated and picking up his boxers, he went to the living room, closing the door behind him.

Talia lying on the bed, felt blank. She heard what he said and she couldn’t feel a thing, physically or emotionally as she felt nothing. She didn’t know what to do.

That horrible memories they were all so real but when she came out of those memories, she was not scared.

Her head was spinning and she felt something on her cheek and she rubbed it off.

It looked like tears and she knew it was not hers.

She slowly got up and leaned on the headboard. She did see those images. And said the first thing that came out of her mouth. She really didn’t think that through.

She wasn’t that scared like the first time she got those "hallucinations" even though this time everything felt so real.

That’s why she was calm and confrontational towards Arthur.

She slowly remembered his face. It looked lifeless and hurt.

Now that she thinks through it, the last time she was so scared she wanted to run and she did. But now, why wasn’t she that afraid?

Was it because she knew she was safe? She knew it was over?

But why did she blame Arthur?

If she actually believed Arthur was the one who hurt her, why wasn’t she scared? If she didn’t believe Arthur actually hurt her, why did she said those words to him?

She rolled herself inside her duvet, entirely confused. She didn’t know what is East or West, right or wrong.

She closed her eyes and there it was, that faint scent lingering on her. It was Arthur’s scent.

Her heart clenched as she took in a deep breath.

’That’s right! When I had those "hallucinations" before, I established that Fred would never hurt me! Is that why I’m not scared of him?’

She could feel her mind getting clearer, little by little.

She clearly remembered that day now. She was emotionally broken and wanted to end her life.

"You should watch out for Ray"

Cyrus told her sometime in that day before he...

It was bright when she forced herself to hold that gun and shoot Cyrus.

But she didn’t know how it became evening when she came to again and all she remembered was Cyrus’ warning about Ray.

She got the sword they hid in a statue in the garden in their property and tossed the creek. The water was cold and she was terrified of water she couldn’t even learn to swim but she knew she had to avenge Cyrus and so she crossed the creek.

Everything was as she remembered when she went there when she was five and so it was easy for her to find their mansion and she walked in through the back door through the labyrinth the Sinclair mansion had.

Now that she remembers, she could see the automatic weapons pointing at her but no one moved.

She wanted to find Ray and kill him but as she remembered Cyrus’ face, she wanted to kill the entire family.

But Fred was the one who met with her first and in the end she couldn’t kill him even if she tried to. He didn’t even care about the sword she had in her hand and walked straight at her asking her to be careful.

She remembered looking at that concerned face, walking right to her sword and thinking that she cannot kill Fred or anyone in front of Fred.

Her hand felt heavy holding that heavy sword and her entire body swayed and that’s when another thought popped up in her head.

And so she tried to stab herself.

But Fred stopped her and the last she remembered was her accidentally hurting Fred while he tried to get that sword from her hand.

The next she remembered was in that room. It was panelled with wood and there was a blue table lamp that caught her eye.

There was Fred.

She remembered wanting to kill someone even of it is her but each time she tired, Fred would be there, stopping her.

She didn’t know how much time passed and the doors and windows were all closed and she went out of her consciousness often and whenever she came to, she’d see Fred by her side, sitting in a chair.

He was sleeping one time and so she tried to get up and sneak out to kill someone but a slight movement of her sheets woke him up.

She remembered shouting to let her kill someone and he just hugged her.

"It’ll be fine, my Iris.. Everything will be fine soon..."

He kept on repeating. And somehow that soothed her.

He took her to bathroom and watched her even there and when she refused to eat, he threatened her that a doctor will come and poke needles in her hand and when she still refused, he looked so sad.

When a doctor actually arrived when she became unconscious out of hunger and was about to poke needles in her arm for an IV drip, he actually stopped him and promised he’ll make her eat somehow.

When she stubbornly refused, he tied her hands and force fed soup using his mouth. She bit him and spit on him, but he didn’t give up and somehow ended up making her stomach feel better.

She fell asleep after that and when she wake up...

That’s when that horrifying incident happen.

Her vision wasn’t clear when she woke up and her hearing too...

Talia curled up inside the duvet thinking up till that moment.

’Why did I think it was Fred for sure? Right...

That day when it happened, I remember thinking it was Fred... Because till then he was the only one coming inside the room other than the doctor. He was the one who tied me up. And also that man called me Iris... Something only Fred calls me...’

’But...’

’Was I wrong?’

Why did I forget all that and waited for Fred afterwards? Did I forget everything because of the drugs?

Talia closed her eyes and pondered using all the energy she had. Her entire body hurt and Arthur hugged her too tightly sometime before and her shoulders were killing her combined with what Edward did.

But she decided to find out the truth tonight even if it kills her.

Then it dawned on her.

Fred was protecting her till then and there is no way he’d have done that to her suddenly.

She was in the Sinclair Manor and there was someone else who hated her and wanted to hurt her there... Someone closely resembled Fred.

’Fred killed Ray... Fred... Killed Ray!’

’Oh, no! What have I done?’
