Stand By Me Darling -
Chapter 458: Her Husband
Chapter 458: Her Husband
You should have worked out more to be strong enough to carry that big dress," Arthur said in a mocking tone as Talia struggled to get on the open carriage driven by four horses.
"Will you help me?" Talia gripped his hand hard and got on, dragging the big train. Arthur and the guards around, helped her train to get inside the carriage.
The longer she wore the dress, the heavier it became. Talia felt exhausted already and she wondered how she will carry on with the rest of the day.
For others, it seemed like the two are flirting and everyone cheered out loud.
Waving their hands, they travelled to the Palace where a luncheon reception is held with the attendees being the diplomats from other nations.
"You seem to be enjoying yourself too much for someone who hates carriage rides, hubby," Talia leaned to him and whispered.
"Say that again," he got closer to her.
"You look-"
"Not that! The other word..."
"Hubby?" Talia raised her brows.
"Yes, that. Say it again... No, don’t! I might kiss you in front of everyone and then you’ll cry like you did when I met you at the creek," he said with a playful smirk and Talia pressed her lips together and tried to act annoyed, but she couldn’t.
She was so happy, his provocations all went over her head. This guy made a bet the other day that he will make her make an unpleasant face during their procession. But his words and acts couldn’t dampen her glee and all she did was smile.
Arthur got disappointed by her ability to maintain a dignified face. But he was too happy to think of the disappointment. He saw the people waiting in the sun for their carriage and the cheerful way everyone greeted them and was stunned.
He never understood how people could love someone they don’t know this much. He never understood celebrity culture either, since he never held an admiration for anyone he didn’t know personally.
But it made him feel proud seeing the admiration his wife gets. And by the virtue of his relation to her, their admiration extends to him too. IT is exciting in a way. His wife is so loved.
Wife! Yes, she is my WIFE!
They reached the Palace and there were thousands of people packed like sardines in the square in front of the Palace. They needed to make the famous balcony appearance.
They waited for the arrival of the other Royal family members and Talia plopped on the seat. Seeing her yawn, Arthur chuckled.
What a weak woman!
He sat beside her and rubbed her back. "Tell me if it is uncomfortable. I will put
From the balcony, they waved for the people.
They heard the crowd shouting and it wasn’t clear to them. After some time, they all chanted in unison.
"Kiss...Kiss...Kiss"
Talia looked at Arthur and he shrugged. He had no problem kissing her in public.
"This would be the last time anyone will see us kissing," Talia said and leaned for a kiss.
Amidst the cheers, they kissed for the second time. The crowd then asked for another one, but Talia ignored it.
Then there was the Royal Air Show to commemorate the wedding of The Princess Royal.
Afterward, it was the photo shoot and they took a lot of pictures. The kids have already gotten restless with some desperately in need of naps, and they didn’t care for the pictures.
The luncheon reception followed and Talia and Arthur had their first dance and the cake cutting ceremony. It was strictly formal and even the toast was very serious as Louis thanked everyone for attending the wedding. Lunch was served and Talia and Arthur received congratulations from everyone.
Talia had redirected where they can donate money instead of getting her wedding gifts. She has everything in abundance and she wanted to use this opportunity to raise money for worthy causes.
For the evening reception that included family and friends, Talia wore an ivory sleek-styled silk dress and a bun hairstyle. She had changed her engagement ring from her right hand to left and seeing the two rings together, she had a sense of achievement.
It was easy to move in the dress and Talia danced with Arthur. They danced the dance they trained for and it was not that great that they might have won any awards, but it was fun.
Talia laughed and giggled a lot all through her reception to the extent that her grandpa thought she was drunk. But she hadn’t touched a single drop of alcohol except for the toast.
Jordan as the best man did the toast and Talia bowed her head in shame as he recalled every incident involving them in the high school.
Everyone joined in the fun since it was less formal than the luncheon. No one went rowdy since they were still in the Palace and there were security officers around the Hall.
The party went on for almost midnight, and Talia wanted to sneak out. She was very tired. Arthur noticed it and they excused themselves. The party still continued.
Talia got out of her dress and wore a nightgown as she started to remove the makeup. Arthur who changed in the speed of lightning after taking a shower saw her and got disappointed.
"I thought you said you have sexy lingerie for me... Why are you wearing grandma’s clothing? What happened to all of your slips? Why are you-"
"I thought you said anything looks sexy on him and that you liked any article of clothing on the floor. Does it matter what I wear?" she raised her eyebrows and he looked at her.
"It does not," Arthur said softly and walked closer to her. Only after seeing her bare face, he realised how tired she looks.
"I’ll run you a bath," he hugged her from the back and placed a kiss on her cheek.
"Thank you, Fred. I love you, Fred." Talia said with a smile. She was desperate for a bath.
Being together like this didn’t seem any different as they’ve spent a lot of time together.
He’s my husband now...
Talia muttered.
Yes, he is my husband!
