Stand By Me Darling
Chapter 453: Marquess Four Hours

Chapter 453: Marquess Four Hours

Arthur couldn’t sleep a wink and he lied staring at the ceiling for a while. Reaching a decision, he got up.

I am going to meet my Iris!

He walked out of the Hotel through the side door since he knew there were paparazzi in the main entrance. He wondered how he could enter the palace without alerting anyone.

"Getting cold feet?"

Arthur almost jumped out of fright hearing that cold voice.

"Sir Robert! What are you doing here?" he grimaced.

"The Princess was right to ask me to tail you in case you run away. You thought it was that easy to abandon our Princess and-"

"I am not running away. I am going to meet her. Sir Robert, help me meet her," Arthur held his hand making Sir Robert uncomfortable. His hands have whitened with the force they were held by Arthur.

"But you cannot meet the bride the night before the wedding," Sir Robert freed his hands from Arthur’s deadly grip. He could see Arthur was very desperate, but rules are rules and he is a Kingsguard who has to uphold the rules.

The Princess did send him here, not because she thought he’d run away, but because she guessed her fiancé might want to meet her. But he didn’t want to tell him that.

"Look... Sir Robert!" Arthur dragged Sir Robert to a corner to avoid all the other bodyguards. "I’d followed all those customs before, right... when I was eighteen... I stayed away from her even though she was sleeping on my bed and I waited by the Reverand’s side waiting for her arrival the next day. She came... but she thought she was marrying someone else. Please, Sir Robert, take me to her. I will tell her that whatever happens, I will be there waiting for her...only me."

Sir Robert wanted to laugh. Although he knew Arthur is not uppity, he doesn’t plead with anyone. And he was very impressed how much his Princess knows the man she marries.

"I get what you mean... Superstitions are superstitions. Do you know? I saw my wife on her wedding gown before the wedding. She doesn’t know that. But I knew when I saw her that I can get along with her. So, I will help you." Sir Robert assured.

"Okay, the Palace is where His Majesty and the Crown Prince stays. The security would be very high since it now hosts The Princess Royal along with them. Even though I wear the Princess’ emblem on my shoulders, I still have to answer to His Majesty’s people..."

Sir Robert explained how he could meet the Princess without alerting others. Of course, he had already made plans using some insiders when the Princess asked him to stay with Arthur. But Sir Robert wanted to make it seem like a heist.

Of course, he had to listen to the Princess whining about the ’most boring chase in the history of chases’ for an entire day. More than for herself, the Princess felt worse for Arthur. So he decided to provide a high to Arthur so that it would make the Princess feel better too.

It could be considered as his wedding gift for the Princess. And so, Operation: Purple Honey, commenced.

Arthur came up with the name himself. Purple for the color of her eyes and honey is the desire of bears and also it is a play of words meaning the Princess is his Purple honey as in terms of endearment. So he gave this epic name. (Epic by his own words.)

"Get down!" Sir Robert said as they passed through every traffic camera. Arthur noticed the way to the church was filled with people already even though the wedding is hours away. They even bought little sleep bags and tents to camp outside for the night.

"They want to get the best spot for the wedding procession," Sir Robert explained and Arthur only then realised why his Iris insisted on an open carriage. It is to give these people a little glimpse of her.

Oh, how much these people must love her for willing to suffer to have a glimpse of her! She knows it, doesn’t she? And she prepared everything keeping the public in mind too. My Iris is so awesome, I love her!

"Reports say more than a million people might gather in Balstone tomorrow for the wedding and more than two billion might watch the wedding live from their homes... They project it would be higher than His Majesty’s wedding since The Princess is famous all over the world..."

As he drove, Sir Robert couldn’t shut up about his Princess. His wife and kids are in the capital for the wedding and he almost cried when the Princess gave an invitation to his family. So they will be seated in the Church and watch the Princess getting married.

The Princess also invited the staff from her childhood home and also the families of the staff currently working for her. Rather than millionaires or Nobles, everyone was surprised when the Princess prioritised them and made seating arrangements for them in a beautiful spot in the Church.

It would be an honour to die serving her.

They reached the Palace and Sir Robert used one of the least used side gates to get in. The security personnel in that area were already alerted and they all turned a blind eye as Arthur jumped from one hedge to another to reach the stairs.

Even on the stairs, the guards all timed themselves so that they will ’miss’ two big guys sneaking behind them. And in the hallways, they hid from pillar to pillar to carefully navigate through.

They even made sure they were always in the blindspots of all the cameras. And there were patrolling guards in the hallway for an added thrill. Of course, none of the guards spotted them.

It was like a plot of a B-grade action movie where the protagonist reaches the diamond no matter what.

In reality, those Kingsguards have eyes in the back of their head and the palace CCTV coverage had no blind spots. But Arthur doesn’t have to know that.

And voila! They reached the Princess’s room. Sir Robert saw the pride and big smile on Arthur’s face and was happy. He even graciously accepted Arthur’s gratitude.

"I can only give you thirty minutes," Sir Robert warned knowing full well it won’t be enough time for them.

"Yes, thank you, Sir Robert," Arthur hugged him tightly and opened the door. He was surprised the door wasn’t locked, and entered with a pleasing smile.

Sir Robert leaned on the wall with a smile and Amy appeared from beneath the next pillar.

"I think high IQ people have some weird quirks 90% of the time," she chuckled.

"They are frigging teenagers," Sir Robert smiled.

Arthur realised the room he is in is not her bedroom, but a small reception. This room was filled with a pleasant aroma and he saw a lot of white stuff around. He didn’t care about them and walked towards the other door.

"Iris!" he softly knocked on the door. He was a little guilty to wake her up, but he needed it.

He thought it would take a long time for her to open the door, but she opened the door within a minute.

"Fred..?" Talia opened the door, rubbing her eyes. She didn’t think Arthur would be here for real. Before affirming he was really there, by wiping off her sleep, she was proved it indeed was Arthur by another means.

Her lips were covered by his and he lifted her from the floor. She, who craved his kissed went for it and soon they ended up on the bed with their clothes sprawled on the floor.

"You didn’t see the wedding gown outside, did you?" she asked as he kissed her abdomen.

"I didn’t see that fluffy thing clearly."

His kisses deepened as his lips trailed south.

"Are you going to cover your face?" he asked after making her reach the peak with his tongue. She released her grip on his hair. Staying away from him for a week made her hungry for him.

"Yes," her voice was husky.

"You’re..." he climbed on top of her and pressed his forehead on hers. "You should know that even if I have to drag my balls through broken pieces of glass, I will be at the altar tomorrow." He kissed her and Talia gripped his back.

"And you should know that even if I have to swim through cold, muddy waters, I will arrive there to get my ring," she kissed him.

"You swear?" he asked, grinding his hips on hers. She could feel his hotness on her.

"I swear. I can’t wait to become your wife. I love you, Fred," she kissed him.

"I love you too, Iris," Arthur kissed her back. His kissed gathered intensity as it travelled to her neck. "Let’s do it raw tonight," he said and Talia agreed.

They’ll be married tomorrow and it won’t make any difference if she got pregnant the day before her wedding.

Arthur kissed and she kissed back and sensing him not moving away from her chest, Talia checked and... Arthur had fallen asleep.

Her lips curved to a smile, and she closed her eyes.

"It’s been four hours!"

Both of them woke up for the angry shout of Sir Robert.

And this is the story of how Arthur gained the nickname ’Marquess Four Hours’ among Talia’s guards. They believed they weren’t sleeping.
