Chapter 405: Our Baby Will Be Pretty
Chapter 405: Our Baby Will Be Pretty
Talia changed to warmer clothes as she was informed Rebecca is currently in her hometown. Once her baby was stable enough to travel, she had gone to her hometown to avoid the paparazzi. Talia felt bad, since by association to her, Rebecca and her newborn baby are getting exposed to paparazzi.
"Did you see the recent picture of Baby Charlotte Ella-Grace Feinstein? She’s grown so cute. She put on some weight and her cheeks are so chubby. I can’t wait to hold her. I bet she’d feel as soft and fluffy as cotton."
Talia chose the first name herself and got the middle name from searching the family records of both Rebecca and Joe. Many women in their families were named Grace and names related to Ella. So she chose that name as the middle name.
Rebecca cried when Talia told her the name. She especially loved the name Charlotte since she loved elegant name for her child. ’I knew you’d choose the perfect name for my baby. You’re so perfect you never disappoint, Tallie’, she was all praises. Joe had a very pleased smile. Talia heard he calls the baby ’Charlie’ although Talia thought she’d be called ’Lottie’.
Talia, who was excited that she became a Godmother, showed the baby’s picture to Arthur the moment Rebecca sent her the picture after birth. Arthur said nothing except the name was good. Talia tried to probe about the baby at times but she couldn’t get any reaction from him.
Did he suddenly develop dislike for babies? It can’t happen! I want a lot of babies.
Talia tried to get him to speak as they were close to arrival at an airstrip near Rebecca’s hometown. She wanted to know the reason for his silence regarding the little baby.
"Iris... Don’t worry. We are both handsome and our baby will definitely be very pretty and have a round head." He said after she nagged him to speak for five minutes.
"Okay... that’s a given." Talia was clueless as to what made him think about the shape of the head of their future babies.
"It’s a shame though... both Joe and that woman can be considered good-looking albeit not as handsome as us. Still it’s a shame their baby was... I mean it is a baby and it is wrong to comment about its appearance, but the puffy eyes, skin infected with some- it was peeling, and the head... why was it elongated – a bit coniferous? I mean no offense but your friend’s baby looked like it was an alien."
Arthur spoke with much difficulty. It was very clear he didn’t want to speak about it and he is saying this just because he was talking to Talia and otherwise he’d die keeping these thoughts as a secret.
Talia looked at his marble green eyes filled with guilt and it was hard for her to not laugh out loud. Of course every newborn baby will look that way and their head would be slightly triangular especially if it was a v*ginal birth. But it will go away as the baby grows.
Does he not know that?
"Was Carl and Catherine really beautiful at birth?" she asked. He should have visited them, right?
"Don’t compare babies, Iris and don’t get mad... It is wrong," he bowed his head.
"Why would I be mad? Because you called my friend’s baby ugly?"
"Ug-? Don’t say that about a baby, Iris! It’s wrong!"
"Okay then. You’re the one who insinuated that Little Lottie is ugly," Talia wanted to tease Arthur more. His guilt-ridden face was too cute for her to ignore.
"Iris! No one is born ugly! Only some people are... challenged look-wise."
"You’re saying there are ugly people Fred! You’re so mean!"
Talia’s teasing lasted until they reached Rebecca’s house and they were welcomed by Joe and Rebecca’s parents. The dogs were barking out loud and at the distance Talia heard the horses.
She really loved this place.
"Come on up, Tallie!" Rebecca shouted from the top of the stairs as they were passing on the gifts they brought for the family.
Talia excused herself leaving Arthur in charge of gift distribution and got up. She was welcomed by a bone crunching hug and a kiss that made her cheeks wet.
"Eww!" Talia wiped her cheeks in Rebecca’s blouse but then her blouse had a weird smell.
"He...he..." Rebecca giggled.
"Why don’t you change your shirt, woman? You stink of breast milk!" Talia wiped her nose to get rid of the stink.
"This happens every time my little one cries. I should change ten shirts a day then. I was doing it for a while, but then I got used to the scent and now I sense nothing," Rebecca shrugged.
Talia rolled her eyes and followed her to the nursery. The baby was stretching herself as she just woke up. Her lips were closed to a cute pout and her large eyes blinked open. Those pretty blue watery eyes that looked straight at Talia made a weird feeling.
I want one for myself!
As she watched, the baby started to suckle her fingers. At first she tried to put her hand in but her coordination wasn’t so great and it took a lot of efforts by shaking that little bald head to finally have those delicate little pink fingers inside her mouth.
"She’s hungry," Rebecca picked her up and Talia watched her getting fed. The baby was so cute and she wanted to look at her forever.
Talia held the baby after she was burped and "Wow!" that’s all she could say. "I want to start making them for myself already." Her decision to have babies was more solidified after seeing Rebecca’s baby.
"After going through so much, you got this bundle of joy." Talia looked at Rebecca and Rebecca nodded.
"This one’s worth that and a thousand times more struggle than that."
Rebecca complained that Joe’s words the moment he saw the baby was, ’Well Angel, no matter how she looks, she’s ours and we’ll love and protect her. I’ll kill anyone who makes fun of her. At least she doesn’t have two heads and a tail.’
Apparently saying this, he fainted and fell flat on his back in the delivery room, like a mannequin. Talia talked about the conversation she had with Arthur on their way here and Rebecca couldn’t hold back her laughter.
The baby fell asleep once more in Talia’s arms and Rebecca put her carefully back in the crib. And after that they went to Rebecca’s room and chatted. As usual Rebecca complained about tabloids.
Apparently this time they were talking about the friendship between Rebecca and Talia. Since Talia didn’t visit Rebecca’s baby even after a month a tabloid reported that they never were that much of good friends, stating that Talia was not the maid of honour and not even a bridesmaid in Rebecca’s wedding.
"Come on! It was your family’s tradition to have only matron of honour and your sister took on that role. Plus you had twelve cousins who were the bridesmaids. I had protocols forbidding me to be a bridesmaid since I am a Princess. Cordelia was the future Queen Consort and she was forbidden to be someone’s bridesmaid too. We decided on it together. What do those tabloids know?" Talia had to pacify Rebecca who was fuming.
"And in your wedding, your Ladies in Waiting will be the bridesmaids according to your tradition." Rebecca said with slight annoyance. "I thought I could grab myself a dress for your wedding from your billions, but it seems like I have to spend from my millions. I heard in your custom the bride pays for the bridesmaids."
"Don’t worry, dear. I’ll make sure you get a custom made dress for the wedding in the same shade as the bridesmaids. And if Little Lottie could walk, let’s dress her as a flower girl. She’d be so cute trotting behind me," Talia imagined the big church decorated with flowers and filled with people on her wedding day.
Each day she could get a clearer vision of how her wedding will be. She was happy imagining that day.
"Whoa! You’re going to wait till she starts to walk? Get married in the spring. By the way, you still are not wearing the ring." Rebecca held Talia’s hand.
Of course Talia spoke a little about her troubles although she didn’t give the finer details.
"I told him today that I am taking away his right to propose to me," Talia said and Rebecca sighed.
"What does that even mean? You don’t want a proposal? He really did wrong to you, but everything ended well somehow. Can’t you forgive him?"
"I’m not angry at him, Rebecca. But it seems like every time he proposes and every time we get closer to marriage, something terrible happens and I am scared... I want to be with him for a long time and..."
"Oh, dear!" Rebecca hugged Talia. "You got the biggest scare of your life, huh?"
"Mmm... I felt more terrified than when I faced death myself, Rebecca. I don’t want to see him hurt." Talia sighed.
"Let’s give him a smack for scaring you like this... That idiot..." Rebecca rubbed her back.
"Yes, give him a smack for me. He promised me he won’t die and yet ... The thought that one day I wake up and he might not be there... it scares me more than anything."
"But that’s life for you, Rebecca spoke softly. "Anyone can die at any moment."
