Stand By Me Darling
Chapter 366: Sneaking In

Chapter 366: Sneaking In

Talia decided to keep her pride and forced herself to stay in the bed. She knew he is someone with great pride and he’d make her beg. But she didn’t want to beg him.

Although the bed was comfortable, Talia couldn’t sleep a wink. And she remembered Mrs. Grey’s words that he looked sad. It made her heart hurt.

Even if he is a prideful person, he never acted prideful with me. So he won’t make me beg, right?

But then memories of that day when he made her beg for ’that’, made her tremble.

But that wasn’t a bad day...

Talia wasn’t that scared of Fred acting that way with her. To be honest, she wasn’t that mad at him now either. He said some stuff and so did she. Both are to be blamed.

Alright! I’ll try to open the door and enter only if it is open. I won’t be begging him.

Reaching to a decision, she covered herself with a silk robe, and stepped out of her room and walked to their room. She slowly pushed the door and was surprised to see the door opening.

He didn’t lock the door! Did he wait for me?

It was dark inside and since the hallways were brighter, it took some time for her eyes to adjust. Talia closed the door and waited by the door until she could see. She noticed the big bump on the bed. Arthur was covering himself with the blanket and he appeared to be deeply asleep.

This guy actually is sleeping this soundly while I can’t get a wink of sleep?

Talia grumbled in her heart. But then she remembered his painful calls for her to speak to him and her heart melted.

Poor guy must be too tired. I’ll sleep here and we can talk in the morning.

Walking on her tiptoes, she reached the bed. She removed the robe and placed it on the ottoman. He had left her side of the bed empty and she laid at the edge of the bed so not to disturb him.

Taking in a deep breath, she closed her eyes. Even though there was more than a feet distance between Arthur and her, she could sense his warmth on her back. It gave her a sense of comfort and she slowly drifted to sleep.

As she was about to enter dreamland, she felt the bed sink behind her back and her eyes opened wide.

"Scared to sleep alone?"

Talia winced as the deep baritone voice that was a little coarse, vibrated in her ear. He rested his hand near her abdomen and his forearm slightly grazed her waist. His fingertips were awfully closer to her chest. She felt his warm breath on her ear and an electric shock passed through her body, originating from the ear.

"I did tell you I won’t sleep in that room."

Her voice almost sounded like a whimper and she hated herself for being this easy.

"You did." Arthur said and placed a little kiss on her cheek. He was still mad at her for suggesting she’d find another man. When she refused to come to bed with him, he was devastated and sooner his frustration turned to anger.

Out of everyone, how can Iris ignore me?

He couldn’t sleep and he was wondering if he should enter her room climbing through the window. But without letting him think more, she came here herself. Seeing her silhouette as she entered the room, he wanted to cry out of joy. He thought she’d come and give him a hug, or scream at him, but she just lay by his side and actually started to fall asleep.

Seriously! How could she sleep when they are still fighting? And how cute is she? She came to his bed wearing nothing but a slip. How adorable!

"Stay away." Talia turned and pushed him away. Her hands were pushing hard on his chest firm as a rock, but he didn’t move an inch. Holding her breath as she tried to push him, she hissed, "You don’t have to kiss little old me when you find having kids with me ’horrific’."

"I did not mean it that way... Iris..." Arthur gripped her wrists with his one hand and pressed it above her head and straddled on top of her. The room only had dim lighting and they were so close that they could feel each other’s breath on them.

"Huh..." he let out a long sigh. "How can I put it..." he rested his forehead on her collarbone. Talia felt ticklish by the feeling of his hair on her neck.

"Will you let go of my hands?" she tried to free her hands, but in vain.

"No." Arthur placed a kiss on her cleavage. "If I did, you’d claw me with your talons."

"Come on, Fred. I swear I won’t scratch you. Let go." Talia couldn’t bear the sensations brought by his kiss. She just wanted to melt away and disappear.

"Okay," Arthur let go of her hand, but he still didn’t lift his face.

"Will you get up so we can talk?"

"No, let’s stay like this."

"Don’t behave like a brat, Fred! Get up!" Talia grabbed his shoulders and tried to lift him, but failed.

"If we have kids, our time together will considerably reduce and we won’t be able to spend time together like this. That’s what I meant by horrific." He moved up and placed a kiss on her forehead before burying his face in the crook of her neck.

"Wha-" Talia didn’t expect him saying something like this to her. "Really?"

"Mmm," he kissed the back of her ear and Talia felt the usual sensations in her body as she warmed up.

"So you think we should wait before having kids?" Talia kind of understood his point. But wouldn’t that be selfish?

"I know there are sick and old elders waiting to see our children, but still... this is how I feel right now. Iris... I got you after a long time and I don’t want to share you with our children yet. Two years... I want to monopolise you for two years before having children. And don’t scare me by saying eight and nine. Even four is a lot." He whispered gently in her ears as his hand rubbed her ear.

"Eight is too much, I agree. But I strongly feel we should have at least four." Talia caressed the back of his head. "Kids are cute and they’d be proof of our love. Also, with me having an inheritable title from Rosandale and you with the title and the company, shouldn’t we have more kids to make them choose whichever path they want?"

"Is that what you think? That our children should be raised to inherit? What if all of them wanted the company and not the titles? What if all of them are hedonistic and waste money? Should we leave them the company no matter what? What if no one wanted to take care of the company but fight for the title and the Castle? What if all of them want none of what we have and do something else? Oh, Iris... we cannot have children for whatever agenda we have. Raising kids is not easy." Arthur patted her back. She thinks everyone will be duty-minded like her. Even she rebelled and left her grandfather. How can she expect our kids to follow the path she expects for them?

"...That makes sense. I was raised to inherit the Northern Star and the company is now better off without me. No one knows what the future might hold. So, we must have kids and guide them to choose whatever path they want to follow. I get it. But still I want four kids. I don’t care if they want to become astronauts or designers or a carpenter."

Arthur sighed hearing that adamant answer.
