Chapter 361: Going On A Date

The next day, Talia visited Arthur in the office during lunch and told him that she’d stay with him till the evening and she wishes to help him.

Arthur, who had trouble leaving simple documents with Peggy, had no problem leaving a much more important document with Talia who had no knowledge of how the company operates.

As much as she had experience in handling administrative tasks, with no experience, even Talia couldn’t do it for a conglomerate without any learning. The document was regarding the new shipping yard getting built in A- Country. She could understand the legal issues with that country since she stayed there for ten years, but at this end, she knew nothing. She didn’t even know how many departments there are in Northern Star and who should be consulted for what.

What was he thinking? That everything will just spill into my brain by staring at the document?

Talia with the help of Peggy finished the documents and did the necessary corrections by contacting the concerned departments. Peggy almost cried in joy doing actual work after Jordan left and Talia bought her a cup of coffee to calm her nerves.

"You...you’re so smart, Iris. I thought you’d come to me to clear your doubts but you figured everything yourself." Arthur checked the document and his face lit up with admiration as he looked at Talia standing beside his chair with a proud smile.

He thought I’d come to him? How sly! I know what would have happened if I stayed in his room.

"I didn’t figure it out myself, Fred. I’m smart, but I still need to learn. Peggy helped me with this and she was glad that she’s of help. I have no idea why you do not trust her. She’s loyal, she’s competent and she is very quick-witted and clever. To keep her..." Talia paused as she was pulled to a hug by him.

"Iris..."

As he was sitting and she was standing, his face ended up resting on her abdomen and he buried his face cosily while his hands groped her derriere. His warm breath passed through the fabric of her blouse and made her belly warm. As if that was not enough, his deep baritone voice vibrated in her belly making butterflies flutter in her stomach.

"You’re so sexy wearing a pencil skirt. I want to-"

"Fred!" Talia grabbed the back of his head and pushed him away, holding his hair. "This is a sacred working place. We cannot have impure thoughts here."

Saying whatever that came to her mouth, Talia tried to push Arthur away from her but in vain.

"You rarely wear business formals these days, but when you wore them back when I lived with you in that little apartment, I wanted to tear it apart and..."

"Stop it Fred!" Talia pushed him, but he wasn’t budging. "I am not doing anything here with that bear watching!" Talia gritted her teeth.

"But that is a dead bear." Arthur kissed her belly making her legs go weak.

At that time they heard a little knock at the door and Arthur had to let go. Talia immediately took a couple of steps back.

It was Peggy and Talia noticed Peggy pause her steps after stepping in the room, for a brief moment. Her eyes were widened with shock and she bit her lips as if she had done a mistake. It was as if she knew what they were doing and felt bad for interrupting. Talia looked at Arthur who was fixing his hair that got all messy with her pulling and sighed.

It doesn’t need much common sense to figure out the usually prim and proper guy to have a messy hair when he is alone with his girlfriend. But why is he shameless? He doesn’t mind getting caught?

Arthur really didn’t care what his assistant might think. He then sent the assistant away after giving her the tasks she needed to complete.

He had reservations trusting her, but if his Iris trusts her enough to give praises about her, she should be good. Also, if he could split his tasks, he could spend more time with his girlfriend.

Peggy gave a grateful smile to Talia before she left and Talia was happy to see the happiness in her face. It surprised Talia to learn that in this world there are some people who like to work to this extent.

Well, it is good for the company to have such diligent employees.

"Come on, let’s go." Arthur stood up and Talia was surprised seeing him wearing his coat and getting ready to leave.

"Are we leaving this early? It is still bright outside."

Arthur has been coming home only late at night these days and for him to leave this early made Talia surprised.

"Since my smart girlfriend helped me with my work, I can leave early today. Iris, let’s go on a date."

Arthur was in a good mood and Talia followed him. He said they can change their clothes before leaving for the said date, and she believed him.

But as she lay on the bed staring at the ceiling, what she couldn’t believe was how she ended up in the bed with him, without even leaving the threshold of her house for the date.

’Just once’ he said. ’I want to see you strip yourself.’ He said, ’afterwards I’ll bring you wherever you want for the date’.

And so she tried to be as sexy as possible when she stripped herself. She is someone who aspires for perfection after all!

And here they are... three hours later, in their bed; tired after doing the horizontal tango for this long.

"You’re amazing, my love." Arthur picked a bunch of her hair and kissed it. Talia turned to her side and seeing the flushed man beside her who broke his word to her, still looked handsome.

Ugh! I should be angry at him. Why am I this weak?

"Come to office daily, Iris. I love it," he said and fell asleep immediately as if his switch was turned off.

"You’re not having dinner?" Talia tried to wake him up, but he was in his dreamland with a smile in his face.

Talia picked up her clothes from the floor and covering herself with it, took a glance at the hunk of a man lying on what used to be her bed. Since it was summer, the temperature was warm and he had pushed away the blankets. Even though he is busy, he never foregoes doing workouts and his body looked like it was sculpted.

Before she knew it, she was walking towards him and her hands gently caressed his firm chest and his defined abdominal muscles.

It is our bed and he is my man!

She left to take a shower after properly covering him and had dinner as she was very hungry.

In the next few days she visited the Arthur daily in the afternoon. In the mornings she’d take care of the arrangements for the Investiture. She visited Arthur’s father and Vivian in her free time too. Both were recovering splendidly.

Arthur joined her one evening to meet Mr. Ed who was fussing that he wants to go home. He was almost normal and he could walk and eat all on his own. Talia asked the doctor’s recommendation that he can be moved now.

"I talked to Louis about the medal you asked," Talia got the Blueberry Lavender Meringue Pie offered by Mrs. Ed.

"And what kind of medal would I be offered? Will I be asked to retire with the medal? I’d rather work with you than receive any honours" Mr. Ed spoke his mind.

"Huh?" Nothing got into Talia’s ears as she took a bite of the pie. That pie not only looked beautiful, but also tasted divine. She didn’t want to speak in case the aftertaste of the pie would leave her mouth.

"You want seconds?" Mrs. Ed asked and Talia nodded shamelessly. She looked to her side and Arthur with a little blush on his face was expecting seconds just like her.

After having their fill of the pie, both of them left. Talia politely asked for the recipe so that her kitchen staff would prepare the pie for her.

"I wish I could steal Lady Magdalene for us." Talia said as they were on their way back. Arthur agreed too.

"The Princess sent us cake from The Oakley Castle kitchen. TO think she’s this cute. Can we steal her?" Lady Magdalene asked Mr. Ed rolled his eyes.

"She didn’t listen to a word I said because of your pie." He pouted. He didn’t know if the Princess really didn’t hear him or she chose not to answer him. He had an odd premonition that he’d be refused to work again in the Palace.

Almost a month passed after Talia come to Esteria and Lambert started to make preparations to visit Trenton.

That day was a Friday and as usual, Talia was in the office. She has learnt the basic operations of Northern Star by now and she’d help Arthur with his workload since she was bored to sit idle at home.

"Let’s go on a date," Arthur asked in the evening and Talia rolled her eyes.

She wondered what excuse he’d come up with to stay in bed, but she agreed anyway.
