Stand By Me Darling
Chapter 215: Hidden Secrets (2)

Chapter 215: Hidden Secrets (2)

"Jordan...why?" Sophia leaned on Jordan. "Why is he breaking off the engagement?"

Jordan froze entirely as he felt that sweet sensation on his shoulders.

"Isn’t it obvious?" Jordan’s hand that was about to caress her hair paused and he pushed her head away from him. She might be drunk, but he is not.

"Ouch!" she rubbed her head making her smooth hair all messy, with her lips curled to a cute pout. "What did you do that for? Even you didn’t answer my calls today... I’m hurt Jordan. I’m so hurt..." her eyes watered. "It hurts so much here," she rubbed her chest.

Jordan took his glance away from her and picked up his phone.

"Is it because I called Talia? Because I disturbed her? That’s why, isn’t it? " she spoke in a very soft voice, like a meek kitten.

Jordan through his peripheral vision could see her leaning on the seat in a contemplative glare. With her smudged eye makeup, she looked terrible, but there still was some undeniable beauty in her.

" What are you doing?"

Her soft mounds pressed on his arm and Jordan felt his heart skip a beat. He almost dropped his phone.

What is this torture?

He forcefully pulled out his arm out of her grip. "I’m booking a taxi for you to get home," he said casually.

"Aww, you’re nice as always..."

Jordan stiffened up as he felt the warm breath of Sophia close to his ears. Because she was drunk, her voice was husky and made his abdomen tighten.

"Sit properly!" he shouted at her. As he turned, her face looked close to his face and he could feel her warm breath on him.

The sensation he had, made him question his entire existence.

And then the loud bell rang... His logical reasoning.

With a cold face he turned to look to the front.

"What do you want, Lady Sophia?" Jordan’s tone held no warmth as he looked to his front.

"I want to meet Arthur. Can you bring me to him? The security doesn’t let me in... Please...."

She’s still looking for him?

Sophia’s pitiful, pleading voice made Jordan’s heart waver. But then he could feel something approaching him, and watching her hands approaching his arm, he moved aside making Sophia’s hand pause midway.

" Jordan... I... " Sophia gulped. She didn’t expect Jordan would be fierce with her too.

"I can let you in. But I can’t promise what he might do. Are you that confident? You should know that your greedy father won’t look for you and won’t seek justice for you even if he knows that you’re dead. Do you still want to come?"

Sophia’s eyes watered. What he says is true. His father who sent her here to plead with Arthur as a last attempt, won’t even bother to fight for justice if she dies here, unless it suits to further his agenda.

" Do you care for me, Jordan? " she asked, looking at his side profile. He had such defined features and such a soothing eyes and voice, although he tries to intimidate her.

Could he be the one for her...?

Jordan was stunned by her meek voice. She seemed like a cornered little rabbit who had no help. His heart couldn’t help but melt for her.

"I’m just waiting for your taxi to arrive!" he swallowed his emotions. He didn’t want to look at her face in case he gets swayed by his emotions. He opened the door and stepped out and with his hands folded over his chest, stood leaning at the bonnet of the car.

Sophia took in a deep breath, looking at the man standing with his face devoid of any emotions. The wind rustled his hair making them seem like little wisp of smoke. Fisting his hand over his mouth, he cleared his throat.

Slowly her mind turned back in time and to their school days. Back then, he had a neatly combed hair and he stood in front of her and cleared his throat just like this. He confessed to her that day.

But he wasn’t a noble! She was angry he had the nerve to confess to her!

And he wasn’t filthy rich either.

Back then she didn’t know his father would become as much as rich as he is now. He used to have a chain of retail stores, just in the city and he wasn’t a multi-millionaire like now. He had three sisters and two of them were not as good as him in studies and she thought they’d spend away their father’s money leaving them in debts.

Why would she date a loafer who is also not an aristocrat?

But who knew the McAllisters will become one of the richest families in Esteria?

Maybe she should...

She got down from the car and walked to Jordan. That day, when a boy she used to date, harassed her, Jordan stepped in and saved her and in turn he got hit by that guy. Even now, whenever Arthur is not nice to her, Jordan is. He never changed.

"They say you won’t forget your first love. Am I your first love?" she asked standing beside him, with her eyes focused on him. Standing beside him, she felt like he is suitable for her height too.

She didn’t know if she thinks this way because she is heavily drunk. Her father forced her to drink and asked her to go to any extent including sleeping with Arthur, to have some hold on him.

But why is she standing here talking to Jordan? She found it perplexing and exciting at the same time.

"What are you saying?" Jordan clenched his jaws and turned to look at her. He really was not in the mood to talk to her about the past.

It was not all good memories.

Didn’t she reject me in the most humiliating way possible? I felt like I was skinned alive by the words she used, to reject me. And as if that is not enough, she actually... After he saved her, she...

He felt his blood boiling up with anger, but her face blushed like a tomato, made him remember his school days when he’d follow her around.

First love is weird. He still cannot actually hate the one standing in front of him, even though he knew he should wish all things evil on her.

"Jordan, do you love me still?" she stepped closer. Her breathing was heavy as she staggered and Jordan could feel her breath on his lips making him stiffen.

Her hands tried to touch his face and as if he was about to get slapped, he pushed her hands away.

"Ah!" she yelped, and by the force he pushed away her hand, she staggered and almost fell on the floor.

Without any thoughts, Jordan’s hand grabbed her waist reflexively.

"Haha," she chuckled, "You’re so strong and reliable, like a mountain."

Sophia looked into Jordan’s eyes reflecting her. The warmth from his hand holding her, spread throughout her body.

Gradually her smile reduced, as her eyes turned misty. She bit her lips and slowly her face magnified in front of Jordan who was confused by her reaction.

"You didn’t think that way back then," he turned his face away. He let go of her waist confirming that she is steady.

"Jordy..." she pouted and her warm hands reached his cheek and turned his face to look at her. "Is it too late for me to say that I was wrong back then?"

She herself couldn’t believe the words coming out of her mouth.

Facing her seemingly honest and pleading look, Jordan was too stupefied to answer.

What should he say?

Back then the way she treated him and the accusation she laid on him after he saved her from a guy trying to hurt her...

" Yes, Lady Sophia. It is late...Too late," he said and took a step back. He cannot let his heart waver.

The smile on her face froze for a moment and she bit her lips, pondering about something.

"But... I was..." she let out a sigh and as if she decided something, took a big step towards him and her hands wrapped around his shoulder.

Jordan wasn’t expecting her sudden movement and he tried to hold her hands to push her away from him without making her fall on the floor. His feet got tangled with her feet and with a bang she feel on the bonnet of the car and with her hands reflectively holding on his jacket, he ended up above her.

"Well, well! What do we have here?"

That authoritative voice with a tinge of mockery that belonged to the one called ’The King’ echoed in that almost empty underground parking lot.

Jordan saw Sophia under him letting go of his jacket and with her face pale, she pushed him away. She looked frightened and Jordan was surprised to see her pulling down her collar, making a couple on buttons pop.

" Help... Help... Arthur. Help! He tried to... He tried... I was waiting for you and he came and he... He tried to..."

Without leaving any space for Jordan to interrupt, Sophia started to wail and ran towards Arthur.
