Stand By Me Darling
Chapter 182: Crazy Woman Calling

Chapter 182: Crazy Woman Calling

Talia decided to sleep in the hotel for the night and so she took a different car from Louis and Cordelia. The road was clear and little droplets of snow were melting as soon as they touched the window panel of the car making her view all blurred. The lights in the outside looked like colourful blobs that reflected prettily in the droplets running through the glass. Propping her cheek in her hand, she watched as the car moved forward.

"You should not give up. A man is fair game until he is married. It seems like Mr. Sinclair is very interested in you," Mrs. Carter said with a wink before they left the dinner. Well... She whispered secretly in her ears while others looked at them weirdly, to be precise.

"You’re misunderstanding, Mrs. Carter, " Talia tried to cover up. She thought the First Lady might have noticed him kissing her. "He was feeling fuzzy with all the drinks he had and that’s why may be he-"

"I have eyes, my dear," Mrs.Carter smiled. "He might have been drunk- you weren’t."

Talia really couldn’t say anything and left with a smile. She really couldn’t think that she let her feelings towards Arthur show that obviously.

Or Mrs. Carter is actually smart to see through her act!

Talia leaned back comfortably in her seat and loosened the seat belt that made her feel suffocated. But alas! Even after she loosened it, she felt suffocated. Taking in a deep breath, she closed her eyes.

A man is fair game until he is married - she heard Rebecca say this phrase a lot. Mrs. Carter repeated it to her.

But is it the truth though? A man who is in a relationship with another woman - how can he be fair game?

She could never accept that statement. If you can sway that man who cannot honour his relationship with another woman, some other woman will be able to away his heart away from you too!

This was Talia’s belief.

True, this statement cannot be said about Fred and her. Their situation is different. And that’s why she decided to keep a little stance between him and her until he publicly breaks the engagement.

Nothing would be more humiliating for a woman other than the fact that the man who is engaged to her is sleeping around behind her back.

Although, she didn’t have any opinion about Sophia, she didn’t want to put her through that humiliation.

It is different when Arthur says, ’I cannot bring myself to marry Sophia. I don’t think I’m compatible with her’ or when pictures of him sneaking around Talia gets released.

The former would be a gentlemanly way of rejecting an arranged marriage and the latter would be considered immoral by any standards.

She wanted people to know that he only loved her though and only for that reason, she purposefully wore his mother’s bracelet for that Press Meet. But not being able to accept an arranged marriage since he had conflicting feelings for another woman would be more romantic and received well by public, than giving up to primal desires out of lust ignoring his engagement.

Call her vain, but she wanted not to be cursed as a witch who snatched another woman’s man for herself.

There are already enough words floating around about her. She didn’t want there to be another one.

Also, she herself felt a bit weird going further than kissing with Fred. Maybe because there still is some consciousness in her mind that reminds her that he is still not hers properly.

She is scared a little bit too, oddly. This would be her first time after all!

They reached the hotel and with her security she walked through the lobby. She always took the VIP elevator at the back of the hallway that would be closed for others. It is for keeping her privacy as the elevator won’t indicate which floor it is on and required a separate key card to operate.

Just as she was about to step inside the elevator, her phone rang and it was King Louis and Talia answered the call.

"There are already articles comparing our outfits!"

It was Cordelia’s tired voice.

"You were the prettiest," Talia said with a smile. She meant it.

After having two kids, Cordelia still has the perfect figure, almost the same as when she was before her pregnancy. She knew Cordelia is working hard to maintain her figure; which she is interested in doing. Unlike Talia, Cordelia really liked waking up early and working out. She says something like it clears her mind, keeps her healthy and all those other good things. Talia would only listen silently. She could never imagine herself jogging or even brisk walking outdoors.

Plus the emerald green dress Cordelia wore today was really flattering on her and showed off her graceful beauty perfectly.

"You silver-tongued charlatan!"

Talia heard Cordelia saying, but her tone implied she was not actually blaming Talia, but showed she was pleased and Talia could imagine Cordelia blushing.

"Get used to it for the rest of your lives!". Talia heard Louis’ voice from the side.

"But why don’t you not let the press write articles comparing us?"

"Because, I cannot meddle with the Press. ’Freedom of press’ rings a bell?"

"But still, you can sue them for slander..."

Both of them started bickering with the line on and Talia waited by the elevator trying to know if there was a reason why Louis called.

At that time, she heard another call incoming in her phone and looked at her phone to see an unknown number and so she let it ring.

She held her phone to her ear and that couple was still talking among themselves.

"Hello! Why did you call me?" Talia decided to interrupt that couple. She cannot wait in the lobby forever.

"Ah.. No reason. Just to check up on you..." Louis said.

"Talia and I, will never fight for silly reasons like this! Take what you said back, Louis! Our friendship is strong!" Cordelia’s loud voice came from the other end making Talia smile.

And she got another call, and she looked to see that it was from the same number. She ignored it again. Mr. Ed noticed Talia getting calls incessantly and frowned.

Isn’t it proper manners to wait if you know the person you dialled to, is on another call?

"... History always repeats itself! "

When Talia placed her phone to her ear again, she heard Louis say. Talia cannot refuse Louis’ words. There are many friendship broken, out of simple misunderstandings, and there were many stories in the Royal Family itself. There was never a recorded long lasting friendship between a Queen Consort and a Princess. Jealousy and lack of proper communication could play an important factor to.

"Cordelia and I have years of understanding, Louis. We lived together for four years. We know each other... But I must say, the same can’t be said about the girl Lambert brings home."

"Oi, aren’t you a ray of sunshine!" Louis sighed.

"What? We don’t even know who she is! If there ever is a woman willing to accept him, she’d come into a family where everyone is close with each other. She’d feel like an outsider! It’s the truth!" Talia was sure. She used to feel like an outsider between Louis and Lambert in the past too.

"Yeah, lucky she got two other women in the family! You two would have to guide her and help her integrate..."

Louis was talking and within that short time frame there were already calls from that same unknown number again and again making Talia irritated.

Who could this mannerless twat be? Is this someone in emergency? But why would they call my number?

" Hmm, Louis, I’m still in the lobby and about to get into the elevator. I’m so tired, I just want to sleep. Talk to you in the morning," she said and ended the call after Louis acknowledged the her.

The moment she ended the call with Louis, that other call popped up in her screen and Talia answered.

" Talia? "

Before she could speak, a unfamiliar voice of woman came from the other end.

" Yes, who is this?" Talia asked in a flat tone.

"Pass the phone to my husband!" the voice said and Talia looked at Mr. Ed. He is the only one who is married among her security personnel.

"Your husband?" Talia sked back.

Mr. Ed understood why Talia was looking at him and shrugged. If his wife wants to talk to him, she’d call him. There is no way his wife would call the Princess and ask to pass the phone. His wife is not stupid!

"Arthur... Pass the phone to Arthur, please!" the voice said and Talia could understand that it was Sophia calling.

"I’m not with him. I left the party," she said and wanted to end the call.

What is this now? And did she called him husband? That’s not weird at all!

"No!!!!"

Sophia screeched from the other end and Talia pulled the phone away from her ears.

" Bitch! I know you are with him. I saw the photographs of you two dancing together. I know you two are -"

"Shut up, Sophia! If you want to talk to him, call his phone!" Talia got really mad and ended the call.

Is that woman drunk? Why is she talking to me? And.. How did she get my number?

Talia stepped in the elevator and her phone didn’t ring further and so she just let it go. Her heart sank remembering that woman’s voice and she seemed so stressed out; like she was about to lose everything.

Stupid Arthur! Why did she fall for you this deeply!

Talia reached her floor and the moment she stepped out of the elevator, she heard her phone ring again.

It was the same number and before she could end the call, the phone call ended itself. Talia decided to block her number and was about to click and her phone darkened with a little vibration and that call was incoming. She was about to press the red button but before that, the call would end and before Talia could do something, another call would come.

This continued for sometime and Talia got extremely furious.

"Mr. Ed, did you see this? Crazy! This woman is crazy! You should know that I don’t like making fun of mental conditions, but this woman is, tied-up-with-a- straitjacket- and- thrown- in- solitary- confinement crazy!"

Talia decided to switch off her phone in the end.

But as she was about to do that, the call was ringing for sometime. Talia who was angered decided to fight this out.

" Pass the phone to my husband! If you don’t pass it now, I will call you until you pass the phone to him. So just do what I say, you slut! I will not let you two have good times together! You slutty cunt!..."

Sophia went on cussing Talia and Talia’s last string of patience broke. She wanted to shout back., but since that Sophia is throwing vile words at her, she decided to return the favour and cause maximum damage.

Talia placed her index finger inside her mouth touching her cheek and spoke, "Ah, Ms. Clairemont, I can’t talk right now," she then pulled out her finger and it made an ambiguous sucking noise, "Arthur - my ex-husband’s dick is in my mouth. Toodle-ooh! Bye! I’ll switch off my phone now! Don’t want anyone to spoil our good times! " Talia said with a husky giggle and ended the call.

Maybe Sophia was stunned she didn’t even hear breathing from the other end after she made the noise.

Talia immediately switched off her phone and got back in the elevator.

" Sir Robert, I’ll be staying in Arthur’s room tonight."
