Stand By Me Darling
Chapter 141: Who Got Shot?

Chapter 141: Who Got Shot?

Talia peeked out of the dining room to see who it was after getting herself a thick iron frying pan for defence. Even if she goes down, she won’t go down without a fight!

"Look who I found living in a tent beside the highway!" a loud cheery voice came and Talia recognised the voice. It was Clint, Sally’s husband.

But who is with him?

"What are you doing here, geez!" Sally really wasn’t pleased to see her husband carrying their boy, half asleep on his shoulder, to be here this late at night.

"Joe?" Talia hid the frying pan behind her and walked out. She was surprised seeing Joe here with Clint. But there seemed to be someone behind Joe. From the angle Talia looked, she could not see the face of that other person wearing jeans and down jacket.

Who is it? A woman probably?

"Why did you bring Mark here? And who is that woman?" Sally wasn’t pleased at all.

"He cried for you and I had to bring him here. Good thing I made the trip, or else I wouldn’t have met this champ here!" Clint smiled widely and pushed Joe inside.

"Did you think my parent’s house is a motel for anyone to come in?" Sally curled her lips and glared at Joe and Joe bowed his head and looked at the floor.

"Come on now, don’t make that face! Let’s talk in the morning!" Clint carefully spoke to his wife and stuffed their son in her arms and made her leave.

Only after Clint moved, did Talia see the face of the person standing behind Clint. And she was now pulling out something from her waist.

STACY?

Talia for a moment froze when she saw Stacy pulling something from her waist. Clint was standing at the doorway, blocking Stacy from getting in. He passed little Mark to Sally’s arms and Talia felt her stomach churn seeing the danger that little boy might be in.

Stacy was standing outside the door, at the front porch while Joe was awkwardly standing in front of the shoe rack in the foyer.

Rebecca’s parents house was a typical ranch house with the staircase to the upper level in front of the main door in the foyer. Talia was standing in the small hallway beside the stairs that lead to the kitchen and dining room.

"Take Mark to bed, Sally!" Clint’s tone got a bit stiff as he saw Sally, still glaring at Joe. "Get in the kitchen Joe," he told Joe and Joe walked towards Talia while Clint was watching Sally getting on the stairs with his back facing Stacy. Sally had a contemplative face as she walked up the stairs.

Talia could discern what Stacy pulled out was a revolver in that light. And in that dark night, the lamp in the front porch made an eerie shadow on her face that made her face that was filled with malevolence to seem more warped.

’Stacy used to be so cute and lively! Guess evil does make one turn ugly!’ Talia thought.

Slowly that dark brown eyes of Stacy now filled with maleficence highlighted by the dark shadow under her eyes, fixed on Talia as her hand slowly raised. As she raised her hand, Talia couldn’t exactly see where her hand was pointing, but she could guess she was pointing at Clint. He was blocking the doorway after all.

"Stacy, no!" Talia pushed Joe walking towards her out of her way and ran towards the door. "Move Clint, she has a weapon!"

It all happened within seconds and before Talia could reach the doorway, Clint had used his nimble hands to disarm Stacy and even pinned her on the porch floor.

"On the floor! On the floor! Get on the floor!" Clint shouted as he dragged Stacy inside the foyer and closed the door..

Joe fell flat on his stomach with his hands covering his head. Talia crouched and got near Stacy as Clint got the revolver from her hand and threw it aside.

While Clint struggled to tie Stacy’s hands with his muffler, Talia took the bullets out of the cylinder and stored them in her pockets while holding the gun in her hand.

Stacy was squirming as Clint was trying to hold her back and cussing Talia.

"Get down!" Clint told Talia. He had an odd expression in his face.

"You should get down Clint. I think they are here to get me," Talia was calm oddly as she didn’t fear for her life. This seemed to be a planned operation. But why didn’t Mr. Ed brief her about it?

She shifted to her side to look through the glass panel door, but couldn’t see anything since the glass was blurry. But it seems like someone was standing outside, but then that dark pants left the glass panel and farther away from the door.

Could it be one of the guards?

Clint grunted seeing Talia extremely calm and proceeded to tie Stacy’s legs with a some ropes he got from the shoe rack.

"You’re oddly calm and well-informed about weapons for a Princess!" he said. Although it seemed to be a mockery, there was a little amusement to it. When she removed the bullets from the revolver, it seemed too natural. He could say she has weapons training.

"For a rancher you’re pretty good at tying up humans!" Talia said back. The knots he used were peculiar knots used by military men and not ranchers.

"I served in the military for five years before becoming a rancher," Clint said with a scoff.

Well, what did he know? That princess who pretended to be shy can talk back too!

"Why do you want to kill me?" Talia asked getting close to Stacy now lying on her belly and cussing incessantly. "For whom were you an informant?" Talia asked.

Talia really couldn’t understand the hatred Stacy had towards her. She wanted to know.

"F*CK you b*tch!! You think you are better than me? I should be the same as you

! Let me go! Let me kill her!!" Stacy continued to shout.

"Why don’t you answer her first, you nasty c*nt?" Talia was surprised to hear Sally as she was walking down the stairs and she could hear the sound of shotgun cocking.

"What are -" Clint could only sigh at his wife.

"What? The dogs aren’t barking! I know somethings off tonight!" Sally got down the stairs and Clint pulled her to the floor, getting the gun from her hand.

"The whole town is swarming with SWAT members in full gear. I think someone’s out to get the Princess here," he flicked his chin towards Talia.

"Oh dear! Let’s get you to safety then..." Sally was worried for Talia and Talia was stunned to do anything as she was dragged by Sally to the kitchen.

But then being in a spacious area is better than getting stuck in the crampy foyer.

"Rebecca?" Talia asked as she was worried.

"She’s upstairs with Mark. I asked her not to get down-"

"Argh! Die b*tch!"

As Talia passed the kitchen window, Stacy who was walking behind Talia headbutted her in her back and Talia was pushed forward and as she was about to hit her head on the kitchen counter, Sally got her.

Joe who was still on the floor, tried to get up and at the same time, there was a sound of glass falling in the kitchen sink and the next moment there was a scream.

"Ahhh!"

The loud and pitiful wail of a woman filled the place.

A sniper attack?

"Press her wound!" Clint pulled out some kitchen towel and asked Sally to press on the wound now gushing out blood. He made the emergency call for an ambulance. It won’t be long since he saw one stationed nearby.

Joe was stunned to see that much blood on the floor and he noticed someone getting down from the stairs and he crawled through the floor and ran to the stairs.

"Don’t Becky! It’s dangerous!" he picked his wife who was getting downstairs and climbed the stairs.

" Why are you here?" she didn’t know if she was happy or angry to see him here. But her heart pained seeing him haggard. She felt surreal by her indecisive nature. She never was like this before.

But this is not important now...

"Who got shot?" Rebecca felt like her heart will jump out of her chest out of fright. "Let me go! Tallie... Sally..."

"Shh!" Joe hushed Rebecca. He didn’t stop and got inside the bedroom and locked the door. He couldn’t stop his hands from shivering hearing the sound of weapons at the distance.

What if someone shoots them?

There was so much blood!

"Let me out Joe!" Rebecca tried to push away Joe who was leaning on the door with a pale face blocking the door. He didn’t say anything but he hugged his wife. He was shivering out of fright. He’s never seen a person getting shot before. Rebecca realising how frightened he was, stopped struggling and let him lean on her.

Thick stench of blood filled the kitchen and soon the sound of loud bullets were heard outside in the woods behind the house. But none of the bullets hit the house as there seemed to be a war going on between two groups.

The battle of the bullets went on only for a few minutes before they stopped and there was silence. .

Sir Robert who himself was in a tactical uniform, removed his night vision goggles as he looked around with his weapon in his hand. With the help of SWAT team of this country, they have successfully stopped the attempt on the Princess’ life and at the same time gathered evidence against an international smuggling group.

It was a win altogether.

He stepped over the man who aimed at the kitchen window and took a shot. They had eyes on everyone around, but this guy was hiding at a much longer distance with his rifle and waited for a perfect shot. Mr. Ed was glad he caught him as he noticed a reflection from deep inside the woods in a slightly elevated area. He thought of catching him before he took a shot but he could only get there after hearing the shot.

Mr. Ed looked at the kitchen window. The entire area was covered in snow and with the moonlight shining, it seemed like the ground was glowing. In his naked eye, that window looked like a small dot because of the distance.

Did someone get shot?

At the same time, he heard other officers getting notifications about an emergency call in the same address something about a gunshot wound on an adult female in her twenties.

Mr.Ed felt his heart stop for a couple on seconds beating that and he ran towards the house at the distance not caring about anything else.

The ambulance is ready and they had stock of O-neg blood which is the blood group of Princess. But still, she needs to be unhurt.

As he reached the house, he saw Amy who was supposed to be patrolling around the house to monitor the doors, lying on the snow unconscious. He checked her pulse and it seemed normal. There seemed to be footprints on the snow leading to the woods on the other side. Mr. Ed furrowed his brows.

Are there more? We thought we caught all of them!

At that time he could hear the shouts from inside and he sprang up to his feet and ran into the house. It seemed like the footprints originated from the front porch and there seemed to be a scuffle around the place where Amy was lying.

Someone tried to get in the house and Amy stopped him? But still... Princess! Please be safe!
