Stand By Me Darling -
Chapter 118: A Difficult Position
Chapter 118: A Difficult Position
Shouting at the door, Talia grit her teeth as the doorbell was still ringing. Wearing the hoodie she went to the door, stomping along the way.
Who the hell dared to disturb us?
"That ****ing ****! What the **** is he thinking? ****!"
The moment Talia opened the door, a splash of profanities hit her like a tidal wave.
Did they cancel the flight? Talia wondered and looked at Mr. Ed for answers.
"Your Highness, apparently she was put on a No-fly list by her husband," Mr. Ed donned a stiff expression trying to not act surprised by the words coming out of Rebecca’s whitened teeth, but it made him red as he was holding his breath.
He couldn’t bear it and he didn’t like he can’t stop his Princess from hearing it.
"Thank you, Sir Robert. I apologise for my friend," Talia smiled politely as if she didn’t notice his discomfort and closed the door.
Of course the people from where she belongs are not known for wearing their hearts on their sleeves and won’t use profanities like they are nothing. They take extreme offence to that.
But Talia got used to Rebecca’s antics by now and she didn’t find that offensive. Also she is not cussing her, is she?
Joe put Rebecca on No-fly list? Isn’t that too much?
Talia looked at Rebecca now sitting on the couch still cussing but crying.
"I’ll make you some tea," Talia proceeded to make tea wondering if Rebecca is crying out of anger or sadness. Either way it is not good to be stressed.
Talia is not a big fan of tea, but now that her groceries are bought by the people from Rosandale, she had a lot of tea in her cabinet.
Talia picked out camomile tea for Rebecca and herself and waked to the couch where Rebecca was sitting.
After drinking the tea, Rebecca calmed down a bit and leaned on Talia sitting beside her.
"He wants me back, Tallie... But only for the child..." Rebecca said placing her hand on her belly in serious contemplation and even though Talia couldn’t see Rebecca, she could feel the sorrow radiating from her.
"He put me on the federal watch list, Tallie... Just because he has power, he used it against me...Me! I stood by him, helped him overcome the monster grabbing his legs and now...he... I fed the snake, Tallie... I’m a fool... " Rebecca held her chest that hurt. It hurt her so much. She never once have thought things would escalate to where they are now.
"Did you ask about Rachel?" Talia wanted to know if Rebecca had brought that up.
Her question only made Rebecca sob more. "He just wants me to believe him. I cannot Tallie... I tried, but I can’t..."
Rebecca lied on Talia’s lap, "I knew what his family is capable of, Tallie... Things they do to those they hate. I despised them for it. I thought he was different. I should’ve listened to my family when they asked me not to marry him... I thought he was not like his family; those snobbish power-hungry vultures. But he proved me wrong, Tallie... The apple does fall close to the tree Tallie... My sister was right! "
Rebecca couldn’t stop her crying and even though she tried to hold back, ended up breaking down. Talia could not bear to see her crying bitterly but she didn’t know what to do to stop her crying and just patted her head.
Associating with powerful people is like holding a double edged sword! There are benefits and risks.
Talia could only sigh.
But still, Putting her on the watch list? Hasn’t Joe gone a bit too far? It is akin to destroying her life. She has no privacy for now. And even if he protects her privacy, the moment she leaves the Feldstein family, she’d become someone without power and what will the government do then?
Why is he putting shackles on her feet?
All Joe had to do is explain his relationship with Rachel and clear the misunderstanding. Why isn’t he willing to do just that and is hurting his wife this much?
Talia really didn’t know what to do. She started hating Joe. All the happiness she had just moments ago as she chatted with Fred, vanished into thin air.
Talia could now understand why her grandfather felt reluctant to leave the company with Fred, to go along with his plan. For now, she has nothing in Esteria. She cannot enter Esteria, she owns nothing in Esteria and she could be abandoned in a heartbeat.
She is literally hanging by a thread - her blood relation with Jerome Brunton. That is the only thing she has left for her.
Even then she didn’t want to doubt Fred. Maybe because she wanted to hate him in the past, thinking he abandoned her and failed to hold the hatred in her heart... Even when she was supposed to hate him, she still loved him in the past.
So how could she doubt him now?
Talia wrapped her arm over Rebecca’s shoulder and stayed silent as she wondered what she must do.
What if Fred failed? What if his actions against the Nobles put him in danger? How can I be of support to him?
Her eyes darted to the door of her apartment and closed her eyes. Sure, she has the Rosandale Royal family to support her now. She knew it is mostly because of her great grandmother. She is old already. God forbid something happens to her, how good will her cousins treat her?
They won’t throw her away for the sake of their great grandmother. But how long will their affection and patience towards her last?
She cannot blame them. She has never took any responsibility as the senior member of the Royal family. Surely she never accepted money from them... for the most part. Her great grandmother sends her cloths and accessories each season even though she doesn’t ask for it.
But she cannot deny they are standing by her side, like a safety net underneath her, silently giving her strength.
Sure she tried to do everything herself. But she sure had a safety net below her that enabled her to take risks and she succeeded and she is where she is now partly because of that confidence.
And these days, they are the ones protecting her, paying for her security in this foreign country.
Maybe I should take my role as the Princess Royal seriously.
Talia decided to leave for Rosandale earlier than her great grandmother wanted her to be there. There are many charities and institutions the Royal family patronise apart from ruling the nation. Ruling the nation was the Monarch’s responsibility and the other members of the family take care of other responsibilities.
Since her great grandmother is old now, all the responsibilities are left with Cordelia - the Queen Consort and Lambert. It would be better for her as the only other senior member in the family, to share the burden a bit.
If she wants to enjoy the benefits of being a Royal, she should do the work too! It’s only fair.
Even Lambert is working, supporting his brother. I should too.
Talia didn’t want to be the irresponsible brat who just thinks she is entitled to everything just because she was accepted as a part of the family. She didn’t want to take everything for granted.
Only diligent people will be independent and respected!
As for Rebecca.... Talia decided to solve her issue first. She decided to meet Joe for a chat.

In the hallway, Sir Robert stood up from his chair respectfully as he noticed the incoming call in his phone. He really didn’t expect his call.
"Good evening, Your Majesty!" he stood upright in a posture belonging to a top military official.
"Good evening,"King Louis never was rude with anyone, especially Sir Robert." I was just now briefed about the engagement announcement of Arthur Sinclair. How is the Princess? " he asked. His voice seemed tired or maybe he was just worried.
" Her Highness is fine now. Immediately after she came across the news, she was stunned and had a small attack. But soon she composed herself and now she seemed beaming. We got reports that she received a call from an unknown number and I personally believe it is from Mr. Sinclair. The Princess is now with her friend and is in good spirits."
Sir Robert explained everything.
" Good then, Sir Robert. Keep up the good work. Make sure she keeps herself busy. I don’t want the Dowager Queen worrying for the Princess once more," King Louis ended the call.
Sir Robert looked at the phone and the closed door and sighed before sitting back in his seat.
Everyone was scared. He got scared when he heard the retching sound from the bathroom and Amy was frightened to the core. It was exactly like before.
Back then the Princess couldn’t hold anything in her stomach and ended up throwing up everything, making her end up like a skeleton with skin barely covering her bones.
His heart hurt remembering the pathetic state she was in on that rooftop.
Surely no one would want the Princess back in that dark place she was ten years back. Back then it was the same guy who pushed her to that place. And this time, he sincerely hoped the Princess keeps herself together.
