Chapter 33: -Family Dinner -
Several hours later.
Having used the late evening to put his body-system into deep slumber, in order to renew most of the raw strength spent during the day. His eyes were now brimming with vigor and clear despite it being late in the night.
He stared silently at the mirror, observing the hidden him.
With his glasses off, and his hair adjusted, styled into a curtain cut. The chiseled features of his face was in opulent view. Revealing a strikingly handsome him, the true exhibition from his hard work over the past year.
’Just look at that, I am too handsome for my own liking.’
Savoring his striking appearance, he adjusted the edge of the suit he was wearing. A black shawl lapel, as customary to wear to an exclusive restaurant for the rich.
’This should do.’ As he thought inwardly, he grabbed his phone before leaving his room.
...
"We are a few minutes behind schedule already, yet your sister isn’t done."
To his father’s words, holding on the steering as he glanced at his watch.
His expressionless face revealed a subtle frown only to soften a moment later. Sitting at the back seat, he saw a charming figure open the door.
Wearing an indigo colored, casual linen strap dress. Her hair parked in a modest fashion. With a little purse crossed across her exposed shoulders. His sister calmly walked towards the car. For a moment he was completely enraptured by her view, especially her boobs as he could already pinpoint her nipples through it. The koi sound of her short heels drew him back.
A moment later, she opened the front door and stepped inside. Sitting next to their dad. The two man atmospheric battle of colognes, was instantly defeated by the scent of her perfume.
There was a contemplative silence, but then his father spoke up.
"You’re as charming as your mother." His father wistfully said. Staring silently at his sister for a moment before helping her swipe a strand of her hair back.
Unfortunately, none of his kids seemed mindful enough to lift the mood at the thought of their dead mother.
"Ok that’s it, let’s move."
Releasing a loud sigh, the
Sedan ignition was turned on with an appealing engine roar.
A moment later, they were driving through the estate’s asphalt road.
...
Moonlight Hotel.
As the S class black Sedan came to a whistling stop. Three of its four doors were pushed open to reveal three striking figures. Each dressed impressively in luxurious suits, and dressed. A robust looking man, a tall classic looking youth, and a beautiful girl in her prime.
Just then the scents of their cologne and perfume waffled into his nose, breaking him from his dazed state. The awaiting chauffeur quickly rushed forward to respectfully collect the kio keys. A job he cherished deeply, since he would be able to enter many ridiculously expensive cars he couldn’t afford.
Taking in the grand but tranquil sight of the towering building.
’Moonlight Hotel.’ Max thought to himself as he read the huge sign, with a half moon near it.
Impressed by the empty street around them, just when he was about to exclude another tranquil sigh. He was interrupted by his father’s deep composed voice. Assuming a formal look.
"Ok kids, let’s go enjoy daddy’s treats." strongly patting on his shoulder. They walked in.
Meanwhile, on the first floor of the
building, upon entering they were led by an elite waitress. Towards the VIP section of the restaurant. Walking past several dining couples who turned heads upon inhaling their strong cologne, they soon arrived at an enclosed space. A tranquil dimly lit room, with a full round table of various exquisite dishes at its center. Surprisingly, there were no walls but a thick glass that presented a one way view of the whole restaurant while the couples dined obviously to the gaze that may be focused on them.
"Savour the tranquility kids. Here, you can let go of your ethics and eat freely."
To their father’s words there was a momentary exchange of glances between both siblings before the man went and pulled out a chair. Stretching out one arm for his daughter to come sit.
To this, Evelyn smiled and gracefully stepped forward while Max watched with an expressionless look.
"Despite how quick you’ve grown, you’ll always be my princess." Seeing that his act had finally melted her cold unresponsive facade, his father revealed a cheeky smile and pulled out the next chair.
’There, he bought your forgiveness with a simple gentleman act.’
Unwilling to watch, he stepped forward and pulled out one of the chairs. Sitting opposite Evelyn, and at the same time was able to catch the view the one way glass provided them. His tactic was this, if his father bored him out he would entertain himself with the lovey dovey couples spread through the restaurant. Not aware of how life saving his simple stunt would be. There was a solemn silence between the three of them as they stared at the remaining one seat.
"Damn, didn’t I tell them it was a reservation for three." His father mouthed a displeased curse, breaking the silence as he fell stood up and pushed the fourth chair away.
At the thought of their deceased mother and wife, the atmosphere was a little bit awkward at first as they readied their cutlery and began taking dibs at the dishes.
"Right, I heard you’ve taken on the SSS Ranked Elite Program."
Filing the room with a momentary pause, the clicks of cutlery came to a sudden halt.
"Yes." His sister responded, probably realizing there was no one as impressive as her in the room, with a light smile.
Though it was a bit misjudging, he acted unconcerned and sliced the beef steak.
"Your grandma called, we’ll be going back to England during your spring break. Hopefully I get to spend Easter there too. Including you Max..."
Unfortunately, his father’s latter words merely drifted past his ears without his brain registering a single thing.
Suddenly his usually expressionless eyes became slit with sharpness ,unbeware to his conversing father.
On the other side of the glass, among the rows of sparsely arranged tables within the restaurant. To the right corner, less illuminated by the dim light. His wandering eyes caught a suspicious scene.
At first he wanted to brush it off and look elsewhere, seeing it was a lovey dovey scene and a proposal was about to happen. But then, as the lady placed her palm over her eyes. The man slipped out a tiny paper and poured the content inside her wine glass. While doing so he could tell the man was conversing with her. Probably saying a few sweet words to delay her. And a moment later, he brought out a tiny box. Opening it with another set of flowery words.
Under the dim light, he was unable to make out the woman’s facial features. But he could see her familiar eyes open, glistening even like a gem as it reflected the ring. Flickering her fingers as the man slid it on one of them.
’How cunning. He’s using the restaurant policy of maintaining tranquility. To keep her from attracting unwanted attention over his proposal.’ Realizing this, a sharp glint flash through his eyes as he gazed with more focus at how things would play out.
Unsuspecting, the lady’s long arm stretched for the man to pour her a drink. Which he did, and she drank.
"Max?" Unfortunately, he was forced to divert back his attention to the room. Answering his father’s tedious question with simple curt words for the next few minutes. Until his diversion back to his sister.
Piercing his gaze through the glass, towards the dim corner. He was taken aback by the sight he saw.
Awkwardly pressing her breasts, while her other arm lightly clung onto the man’s shoulder for support, in a state of inebriation. Was a face he was very much familiar with, having come in contact with just recently in the day. Now that she was standing, trying to rather. The familiar figure he had tried to avoid in earnest was revealed by the body con dress she was wearing.
’Miss Dalia?’ He thought inwardly with a skeptical look on his face. Unable to believe.
