Chapter 1087: Impending Departure

Chapter 1087: Impending Departure

During the years she lost contact with Sein, the Spider Queen had been busy preparing to capture the Moonlit Cat Goddess alive.

Capturing a late-stage Rank Five goddess was no simple task.

It was difficult to even estimate how many rare materials she would need just to construct the confinement array.

On top of that, devouring the Moonlit Cat Goddess and taking her place was not something that could be accomplished with a few commands.

If it were not for the Spider Queen’s unique divine powers, her mastery over specific laws, and the fact that she was operating from within a black tower, where resources were virtually unlimited, this entire endeavor would have been impossible.

After all, the Spider Queen did not belong to the “Brain Eater” race recorded in the histories of the Magus Civilization. She lacked their extraordinary talent when it came to processing corpses.

“The confinement array is almost done. All that’s left is finding the right bait and waiting for the target to bite,” Lorthisra said.

“I thought I might have to sacrifice one of my private collections, but now... I don’t think that’ll be necessary. You should be able to handle this part just fine,” she added, glancing toward Sein.

“No way. Me again?” Sein muttered, the corner of his mouth twitching.

When they ambushed the God of Brute Force, it was the Spider Queen who pushed him to make the first move, throwing him out as bait to draw the target in.

Now, it looked like she was planning to do the same again.

Even with nerves tempered like steel, Sein still felt his scalp crawl.

The Avatar Crisis was over, and the Faeloriand deities were no longer stuck in their avatars.

Escaping from the God of Smithing last time had already been a narrow brush with death, and that was thanks to a ridiculous stroke of luck.

This time, he no longer had any demigod-level Viridescent Seeds left to rely on.

Besides, even Master Lorianne would struggle to face a true Rank Five powerhouse, let alone a demigod born from a seed.

“There’s no need for you to fight this time. Just lure the Moonlit Cat Goddess here. Once she takes the bait, your job is done. I will keep you safe,” Spider Queen said, thumping her chest in reassurance.

The risk level of Sein’s part in this operation was relatively low.

The Spider Queen’s preparations for this encounter had been elaborate and costly beyond anything Sein could imagine.

But he did not know that.

So, as always, he braced himself for the worst. If the Spider Queen failed to capture the Moonlit Cat Goddess, then...

Sein gulped at the thought. With his current strength, there was no way he could face off against an enraged Rank Five deity.

Seeing his hesitation, the Spider Queen’s expression darkened.

She even went so far as to threaten to abandon him here in Faeloria.

As someone completely at her mercy, Sein had no choice but to accept the mission in the end.

“When I hunted down the God of Craft, I told myself that would be my last battle in this world,” Sein muttered with a sigh.

“To think you had the guts to hunt down deities multiple times,” the Spider Queen said, smirking. “Even if it was during the Avatar Crisis, that kind of boldness is still insane. I must say, I picked the right servant.”

“Anyway, as a reward for helping out again this time, I’ll give you the God of Brute Force’s divine relic,” she added with a casual wave of her hand.

It was a generous offer, though the truth was, the Spider Queen did not care much for the relic at all.

Once she succeeded in taking the Moonlit Cat Goddess’ place, there would be no shortage of opportunities to get rich in Faeloria. Every Avatar Crisis claimed the lives of many deities like them.

With the Spider Queen’s strength and cunningness, Faeloria’s future would only grow more chaotic under her influence.

She was confident the resources of this world would end up lining her pockets.

With the promise of the divine relic, Sein finally gave her a slow nod.

The Spider Queen might have looked down on the item, but to Sein, it was a priceless treasure.

Getting it as compensation for this mission certainly did not feel like an insult.

***

The Spider Queen quickly set a date for the operation—it would take place in about thirty-seven years.

Coincidentally, that would also be around the time Sein planned to return to the Magus World.

He had been away for centuries, and he was beginning to feel homesick.

Sein and Lorthisra would also need to enlist help from the Purgatory demons for the upcoming operation.

At the very least, they needed intel—where the Moonlit Cat Goddess was most active, and where her main group of followers could be found.

As they mapped out the plan, Sein glanced over at the Spider Queen, and jokingly asked, “Why not just go after the Goddess of Magic instead?”

In Sein’s eyes, Eluvira was the most “valuable” deity in all of Faeloria.

Unfortunately, that was just his perspective. For Lorthisra, who was on the path of godhood, Eluvira was far from the ideal target.

The native deity who would benefit her the most was undoubtedly the Dark Lady, a peak Rank Six powerhouse.

However, the Dark Lady was far stronger than Lorthisra. Besides, Faeloria was her homeplane. Lorthisra would be insane to provoke her directly.

After narrowing down her options, the only suitable candidate left was the Moonlit Cat Goddess, who also happened to wield umbra elemental laws and divine power.

She was a far better match for Lorthisra’s attributes.

With her current abilities and the preparations already in place, Lorthisra estimated her chances of successfully taking down the Moonlit Cat Goddess were as high as eighty percent!

***

While Lorthisra was planning her hunt, Sein was making final arrangements for his departure from Faeloria.

He still held a great deal of hope for Flynn and the others.

In these final moments before leaving, he took time to prepare parting gifts—leaving several divine potions for Ronaldo and the others, along with a comprehensive set of spellbooks and study materials for Flynn.

The divine potions were incredibly potent, refined from the divine blood of the God of Brute Force, the God of Fire Crickets, and the Goddess of Waters.

They were the same concoctions Sein had often used in his own body-tempering experiments over the past few years.

Ronaldo and the others still had relatively weak constitutions, so using these potions too soon carried serious risks.

Sein’s advice for them was to wait until they become Epic Being before trying to use them.

As for how far they could go in the future, Sein could only offer his blessing and hope for the best.

The spellbooks and study materials he left behind for Flynn were compiled from the many truths and mysteries Sein had gathered during his travels through the Magus World.

They were the most valuable gifts he could leave, not just for Flynn, but for this world.

With Eluvira, the Goddess of Magic, continuing to watch over them, Sein was confident that even after his departure, Flynn and the others would not fare too badly in Purgatory.

What had once been a small castle in the shadowy depths of Purgatory had grown into a sprawling complex.

The Warrior Academy, the Thieves Academy, the Ranger Academy—all founded by Ronaldo and his group—now stood alongside Flynn’s Arcanist Academy.

As the Avatar Crisis drew to a close, the population of this territory had already approached one million.

That number would only rise as the region continued to flourish.
