Chapter 193: The First Patch

World Announcement: 10% of the World’s Player Base has reached Level 5 after Total Player Count has reached 10 million. As such, Ascension of Souls will temporarily go offline to implement its First Patch. Players will be logged out in Ten Minutes. Please make your way to a Safe Area as soon as Possible. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

A sudden announcement caught the Party by surprise. They had been discussing their own endeavors that came with reaching Level 10 only to now hear that there was a patch going to be put in place because 1 million people worldwide had reached Level 5.

"What is going to happen to Astra if we leave her like this?"

Luna’s concerned voice caused the rest of the group to frown. They would feel terrible leaving such an adorable little girl by herself for god knows how long. Only Astra herself seemed to be unconcerned with what was happening. Aria leaned down a bit so she could be eye level with Astra and asked

"Astra Sweetie. Do you know any place where you can be safe if we leave you here for a little while? I promise you we will be back."

Her little eyes widened with shock, loneliness and fear as she replied

"Why are you leaving me? Don’t leave me behind!"

Aria immediately backpedaled as she held up her hands in a waving motion

"No, we aren’t going to leave you. It’s just...we are being forced to leave for a bit."

Astra’s cheeks puffed up in defiance as she then shouted

"Then I’m going to go home then and follow you guys! You can’t get rid of me!"

Leo had a wry smile on his face as he replied

"No one is trying to get rid of you...wait a second. Go home?"

Astra nodded her head

"Yeah! Like this!"

To everyone’s shock and amazement, Astra’s entire body quickly turned into a ball of silvery gold light and flew towards Leo and then disappeared into his gold bracelet.

Everyone was stunned silent at the display. Leo gazed at his own wrist, dumbfounded. The bracelet couldn’t be removed and Astra called it her home. Did that not mean, not only was he a catboy, he was also a walking house?

Adam seemed to pick up on that and his lips curved up into a small smirk as he teased

"Hey Leo, how much do you charge for rent? I might be interested in renting out a spot for the evil spider living in my head!"

Both Arachne and Leo were offended by that ’joke’.

"Screw you"

Leo hissed while Adam could feel Arachne growling in his head.

’You insolent whelp! I knew I was going too easy on you in that Trial!’

’Too Easy?! You killed me over six thousand fucking times! If that’s going easy, I want a different instructor on the grounds that mine is a fucking crazy psycho bitch!’

’I will fucking end you ya Snake Bastard!’

’Too fucking late! You already did that thousands of times already you sadistic spider hag!’

’WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!’

Leo turned away as Adam began to wince, absorbed in his mental argument with Arachne.

"So anyways, Astra is taken care of so we don’t have to worry about her. Let’s focus on something else. What are we going to do while the game is offline?"

Aria frowned for a brief moment before she thought of something.

"Well I know that the government is taking an interest in people like us so maybe we should contact our local government to see what our next steps are going to be?"

The Original Party quartet of Leo, Lily, Luna and even Adam immediately turned their gazes towards Rachel who averted her own gaze when she noticed the pointed stares directed her way.

"Why is everyone looking at Nyx?"

Crystal remarked as she looked around. She felt it was wrong to call people by their real name in a public place like this. What if personal information was leaked as a result of her own poor word choice?

Luna’s frown didn’t let up as she grumpily replied

"Well this one works for the government...as part of her family’s ’business’."

Rachel coughed awkwardly before she tried to deflect attention away from herself by retorting

"Well at least I am not a bodyguard for the daughter of a former Mafia Boss!"

Crystal’s eyes widened in shock, dumbfounded by the claims of the two girls.

"Family Business? Bodyguard? Aren’t you both College aged too?!"

Luna and Rachel were glaring at each other briefly but nodded their heads at Crystal’s question. Adam getting tired of all the drama that the two girls were stirring up explained in a deadpan tone.

"Nyx is the Granddaughter of the Head of the Umbral Moon Association. Luna is the Chief Bodyguard to the Sole Princess of the Gattioni Family. Lily is that princess by the way–"

Lily waved energetically when Adam explained her situation while Luna and Rachel started glaring at him for being so nonchalant about it.

"Sonata is actually a really famous singer that is known to the public as a male–"

Aria couldn’t say for certain but she felt like Crystal was staring at her chest somehow as if to question how anyone could think she could pass for a guy with an appearance like that.

"And I am the youngest child of the Samael Corporation. Granted I am a Bastard child and my entire family hates me but that doesn’t change the fact that I am one of them...Unfortunately."

Crystal was completely at a loss for words. This group was surprisingly full of big shots in society and she was actually quite grateful for that.

"So my own personal situation is not the craziest. That’s good to know"

She sighed in relief which brought about confused looks from everyone but Luna and Leo.

"That’s right..."

Leo began as he scratched his head awkwardly

"Your Dad is the mayor of our city..."

Luna also averted her gaze as she remembered

"And your mom was just elected as the Head of State..."

The other’s eyes went wide as Crystal floated a sheepish grin.

It seemed like not one of them was normal.
