Chapter 191: Welcome to the Madness

"A Dragon?! Are you talking along the lines of a ’Dragon among men’? Or I guess in your case ’Dragon among women’?"

Rachel asked with an almost comical level of disbelief in her voice, glancing around Crystal floated a soft wry smile before she replied.

"Yes, a Dragon. I haven’t seen exactly what change has happened but based on what my Instructor has told me, I assume I will be able to transform various parts of my body into a dragon as I grow stronger. I am just not able to control it all that well yet."

Leo’s expression was complicated. He was concerned but at the same time he was a little jealous. Here he was stuck as a catboy while his childhood friend was turning into a literal dragon. As a healthy(?) young man, it was only natural that he was envious.

It was then that Crystal seemed to notice a new presence among the group. She turned her head to focus on the little girl who was dozing off in Luna’s lap.

"I might have missed something but where did this little girl come from?"

Rachel’s eyes gleamed with mischief again as she pointed at Leo and blatantly said

"That little girl is Leo’s~!"

Crystal and Leo froze for a brief moment before Leo directed a murderous gaze towards Rachel.

"You are doing this on purpose. You phrase things so fucking terribly. Why are you always trying to get me into crap!"

He hissed with annoyance but flinched briefly when his sister flashed him a glare for swearing in front of the adorable Astra.

Crystal, now regaining her composure, tilted her head curiously as she studied the girl curled up in Luna’s lap.

"She’s... not human, is she?"

"No she isn’t"

Luna answered simply, gently stroking Astra’s hair with her fingers.

"She’s one of the spirits that reside in Leo’s bracelets. Apparently instead of gaining skills, Leo’s instructor who he refuses to name–"

"I can’t say it out loud. Believe me I tried"

Leo raised a weak objection to the withering look that Luna was gave him while she was explaining.

"Instead, they gave Leo a choice to upgrade one of the two spirits and he ended up choosing Astra..."

...Luna’s voice softened as she looked down at the small girl in her lap, who let out a quiet sigh in her sleep and snuggled closer.

"She appeared like this after the upgrade was complete. I don’t think any of us were expecting her to take the form of a child."

Crystal froze for a moment as she tried to process it all.

"Does that mean at some point in time, there will be another upgrade and there will be another small child to take care of?"

Adam’s face was stiff as he tried to hide his expression. He had seen what the other spirit was capable of and if they appeared as a small child...he would be a tiny terror from the abyss of hell. If Astra was an angelic child, Mors was definitely going to be the spawn of satan!

It seemed that some of the girls shared this sentiment as Luna, Lily and Rachel were frowning.

"Leo, Astra came from that gold bracelet right? That black and red one is where the other spirit resides right?"

Leo silently nodded his head.

Do they have a problem with me getting a body?

Mors seemed to be awake and was listening to the conversation that was happening. He had been silent for quite a while so Leo had been caught off guard by his sudden question.

"Well that’s gonna suck then. He was really mean and seemed kinda evil if I am gonna be honest.."

Lily sheepishly remarked with a complicated expression. She was all for new faces and getting along with new people but Mors gave off creepy vibes to her.

"He wasn’t mean," Leo muttered. "He just has... a very specific way of talking. And thinking. And existing."

Rachel crossed her arms, her smile gone. "Creepy way. Let’s be real. Every word he spoke while using your body made it feel like the temperature dropped ten degrees."

Leo didn’t respond right away. His eye twitched.

’Wow. Real nice of her. Did she want me to bake cookies and sing lullabies while I was at it?’

Mors’s voice cut in like a blade behind Leo’s eyes.

’I talked for, what, two minutes? And now I’m public enemy number one?’

Leo shifted uncomfortably in his seat.

’You know what? Fine. I get it. Too many butt hurt emotions. Not enough sweetness. Everyone’s brain short-circuits the second someone uses a word that they don’t agree with and doesn’t smile like an idiot.’

His words were harsh but Leo could somehow tell that he was actually really affected by what they were saying. As if hearing all the commotion, Astra began to stir and rubbed her eyes.

"Brother? What’s the matter?"

She groggily asked to which Leo’s eyes widened in response. Mors was talking inside of his head yet somehow Astra heard him and even woke up! She sat up from Luna’s lap and looked around the room before focusing on Leo with her large golden eyes.

"Leo. Why is my Brother getting angry?"

Her innocent voice was still tinged with sleep from her food induced coma and Leo didn’t know what he should tell her. However before he could find the right words to say, Mors chimed in.

’They don’t like me,’ Mors muttered bitterly. ’I say a few words and suddenly I’m the villain.’

Astra’s eyes suddenly narrowed, her expression shifting from sleepy to adorably fierce.

"That’s not fair!" she exclaimed, voice small but firm. "They’re bullying you!"

Rachel blinked, Lily looked surprised, and Luna raised an eyebrow.

Astra’s tiny fists were clenched as she waved them as menacingly as she could in the air

"No one bullies my brother! Not while I’m here!"

Leo couldn’t help but smile despite himself.

"Astra, it’s not bullying. They just don’t understand him yet."

She shook her head with determination.

"I understand. He’s my brother and I won’t let them be mean to you."

Astra looked around at the group with wide eyes, her adorable anger barely contained.

"If you want to say something bad about my brother, you’ll have to get through me first!"

Rachel chuckled. "Okay, okay. No bullying. Got it."

Luna smirked, shaking her head. "She’s got spirit. She is already a great older sister."

Astra giggled and grinned at Luna’s remark but quickly realized that she was getting distracted and shook her head, trying to keep up her fierce act.

Adam turned back to face Crystal who was standing awkwardly in place, unsure of what to make of all this chaos.

"Go order a drink and pull up a seat. This doesn’t look like it’s going to end soon"

Crystal let out an involuntary soft chuckle as Adam himself had a wry grin on his face

"This is the norm. You better get used to it~!"

He waved a finger in the air in a self deprecating

"Welcome to the first Official meeting of the Chaos Pantheon"
