Chapter 1036 - 99 : Finding Morianne... Again

Chapter 1036: Chapter 99 : Finding Morianne... Again

We had to take a boat back to the Dark Realm. It was a long, slow journey, and it felt like it took twice as long as the last time we traveled by boat.

I paced back and forth along the deck, rubbing my hands on my thighs. There were so many possibilities of what had gone wrong.

The sun set over the bow of the boat, making the sky bleed with oranges, pinks, and deep purples that all ran together. Waves lapped gently against the boat. It was all very serene, but inside, my heart raced and my blood rushed.

“Sasha, you’re going to wear a hole in the deck and the whole ship will go down,” Lucas teased.

He came up behind me and slipped his arms around my waist.

“Very funny.” I rested my head on his shoulder and sighed heavily.

“What are you thinking about?”

“I’ve been thinking about our baby. I am starting to accept that my body and the baby got shifted to that other reality.”

“It is hard to get my head around. But, that is the only thing that makes sense.”

“The only problem is... she’s now pregnant and probably doesn’t know why and she’s mated to a rogue Lucas. So many things could go wrong for the baby and....”

I started breathing heavily, my stomach churning. It wasn’t the rocking of the boat making me queasy. I couldn’t stop thinking of all the horrible things that might happen to the baby or how the other Sasha could be so confused.

What must she be thinking or feeling, waking up with a baby bump? She had no support from the rogue Lucas.

I trembled slightly and gasped, holding back a surge of tears that welled in my eyes.

Lucas tightened his arms around me. “Lena will have answers for us.”

“You sound so sure.”

Lucas chuckled dryly. “I’m not, but I’m hopeful.

There was a subtle tenseness in his voice that told me just how nervous and upset he was, just like me. He held it back, though, and I was grateful. If he started to show his own nerves, it would make me even more nervous. Right now, Lucas was my rock, my strength. I sighed uncertainly.

Lucas turned me around to face him, cupping my cheeks gently in his hands. His eyes searched mine with concern.

“Hey, hey. We’ll figure it out, I promise,”

The sky got darker and Lucas and I moved back into our cabin on the boat. It was small but cozy.

“Do you think Xander and Lena will remember things from the other timeline?” I asked as I changed for bed.

“If they don’t, it should be pretty easy to convince them. It has been in every other reality,” Lucas assured me.

“I just don’t know what Lena will be able to do. She has Moon Goddess powers, but they aren’t absolute. They are different from dream dancer gifts.”

“That’s true. Lena is very knowledgeable, though, so I think she will be able to help point us in the right direction.”

I nodded. He made a good point.

As agonizingly slow as the journey to the Dark Realm was, I was glad to be moving toward someone who could help us.

When we arrived at the palace, the guards brought us right to Xander and Lena. Lena stood up the moment she saw us. She came to me and hugged me.

“You poor thing,” she whispered, running her fingers through my hair.

“I’ll be okay, Lena.” My voice trembled, betraying my true feelings.

“Don’t worry, we’ll help you sort this out. Between Lucas’s phone calls and the dreams I’ve been having, I’m caught up on what the two of you have been doing, gallivanting through the timelines.”

I sighed and nodded. “I’m sorry we’ve made such a mess.”

Lena shook her head. She stepped back and took Xander’s hand. The king had a somber look on his face.

“I won’t pretend to know what you are going through, Sasha, but you have the full support of the royal family and the palace behind you to remedy this.”

“Thank you,” Lucas nodded to Xander and Lena.

“Sasha, I’d like a moment alone with you, if that’s okay,” Lena said.

I bit my lower lip and looked at Lucas. He nodded encouragingly toward me.

“Go Sasha. Xander and I should have a chat, too.” He nudged me forward. “I’ll be right here when you two ladies are done.”

Lena looped her arm through mine and guided me to another room, a library filled with books and old scrolls. There were several comfortable chairs and couches. The lighting was dim, and just stepping into the library felt peaceful and quiet.

I took a deep breath, thinking of the library at my university. I missed going to school. It was one of the things I was looking forward to coming back to my own life and body.

“Come sit with me, Sasha.” Lena sat on a couch and beckoned me over.

“Have you discovered what might have happened to my baby?”

“What are your theories?”

“I think my body and my baby are in the last reality we were in, just with a different Sasha’s soul.”

“That is a likely possibility. Through my dreams, I have seen the versions of myself in other realities. I have confirmed there is a pregnant Sasha in one of them. She appears confused and unsettled.”

My stomach sank, and I looked at my lap. It was good to know that my body and baby were still out there, together, but if that Sasha was panicking, who knew what she’d try to do? That stress couldn’t be good for the baby.

“I was afraid of that.”

“I’ve communed with other Lenas, and we’ve been able to determine that in all your previous travel, it was just your soul and consciousness that was transported from one reality to the other.”

“Until this last time....”

“That’s right. This last time, you managed to pull a body through with your soul and consciousness. It forced your body into that reality so that there was a vessel for that Sasha’s soul to go into.

“I appreciate the explanation, but it doesn’t help with the issue. What can we do about it? How can we fix this?”

Lena sighed and averted her eyes. I didn’t like that look at all. It told me she had no idea what to do about the situation, and that wasn’t what I wanted to see.”

“What about the orbs? Lucas and I brought them to the palace for safekeeping. If we put them together, they might help but... I don’t have my powers in this reality. There isn’t much I can do.”

“I understand. Unfortunately, there’s nothing I can do with my powers to make the orbs work the same way you can.”

“I know, Lena. I’m not expecting you to fix this. We got into this mess. It is up to Lucas and me to do the heavy lifting.”

“You’re very brave, Sasha.”

I smiled dryly and looked away from her. I didn’t feel brave. I felt like I’d break down in tears if anyone else told me they didn’t know how to help me get my baby back.

“I’m trying my hardest. It isn’t easy. I just think of my baby and–”

“All hope is not lost. As Xander said, we’re here to help. You have the entire support of our abilities and the palace working with you.”

“Thank you, that means a lot. You know, we didn’t even know each other in some of the other realities.”

It was so hard to believe, now that I was back in my reality.

“I know. Fortunately, now that the doors have been open, if you do any more timeline travel, you’ll have me as an ally in other realities.”

I smiled lightly and nodded. That, at least, was comforting.

“Now, I might not be able to help with the orbs, but I’ve learned the name of someone who might. She exists in this reality, too and I’ve heard her name before. She could have exactly what you need.”

I perked up. “Who? Is it Rochel or Jennie? I met them before we went to the Light Realm.”

“No, it isn’t them. It’s a priestess. She’s very powerful.”

My heart sank again. “You mean Morianne?”

“Yes, that’s her name. Have you met her in this timeline?”

“I’ve met her in a few. She... can’t be trusted. She’s tried to kill me, stolen my powers. I don’t know what her motives are in this reality, but I don’t trust her.”

“I’m aware of your run-ins with her in other realities. I know she can’t be trusted, but she could have the answers that you need,” Lena offered.

I shrugged.

“Do you know where to find her in this reality?”

I released a long, slow breath and rubbed my hands on my thighs. “I have a few ideas of where to look but... I don’t know if she’s our best option. She’s caused so much pain.”

I winced and wrapped my arms around myself. I thought of the way her staff took control of me and how many others I hurt when that power exploded. The Immortal was completely obliterated.

I shuttered and hugged myself tighter.

“You don’t have to worry about her in this reality. Even if she can’t be trusted, Xander and I will send our full force to contain her. We have our ways of making her cooperate.” Lena grinned at me.

“That may be, but you shouldn’t expect her to be very agreeable. Containing her and getting the truth from her are two different things. How can we verify anything she says?”

“I admit, it is a risk. But it is a risk we have to take. She’s the only one we know of who could be helpful.”

I nodded and thought about what my mom said. “What about The Immortal? My mom said there were different versions of him in timelines. Maybe the version of him that helped me is still around this reality.”

Lena arched an eyebrow. “Do you know where to find him?”

“No.” I bowed my head.

“I think it would be better to spend our resources looking for someone we have a better chance of finding. You never know, she could surprise you.”

“You’re right. Okay, we’ll look for Morianne and see what she knows.”

Lena took my hand. “You might not think it, but you are a very brave woman. Keep that in mind while we go through all of this.”

“Thank you, Lena. I don’t know what I would do without Lucas, Xander, and you.”

“I’ll send people out to locate Morianne based on where you think we could find her. In the meantime, you and Lucas should go home and rest. You’ve been through a lot and should recover your strength.”
