Sleeping With My Step Daddy -
Chapter 78: "Blind Date 2"
Chapter 78: "Blind Date 2"
Kai (skeptically): "What if it doesn’t work?"
Yuki (confidently): "Nope, sir. It’ll work—just like I told you. You just need to stay calm and follow the plan. Trust me."
Kai sighed and leaned back in his chair, mumbling: "Fine."
Yuki glanced at his tablet and straightened up.
Yuki: "Sir, it’s time. We should head out now."
Kai gave a tired nod.
Yuki (carefully): "Do you want to change your outfit before we go?"
Kai raised an eyebrow. "Why would I? I’m going to ruin the date, not impress him."
Yuki blinked, then gave a nervous laugh. "Oh... r-right. Makes sense."
Without another word, Kai stood and walked toward the door. Yuki followed respectfully behind him like a loyal assistant on a secret mission.
Outside, Kai slid into the backseat of the car, looking cold and composed—fully prepared to sabotage the date Takeshi had arranged for him.
Yuki closed the door behind him, glancing at Kai’s serious face through the rearview mirror.
Yuki (quietly to himself): "God help that poor guy..."
After a quiet drive, Kai arrived at the hotel where Takeshi had arranged his blind date.
Kai stared at the elegant restaurant and muttered under his breath, "A romantic place... of course. Why does Dad always force me to do things I never want?"
The car door opened, and Yuki respectfully bowed. "We’re here, sir."
Kai stepped out, took a deep breath, then walked toward the entrance. The guards bowed and opened the door for him, and a sharply dressed server quickly approached.
"Mr. Kai, your table is ready. This way, sir," the server said with a courteous smile.
Kai followed him in silence until they stopped at a beautifully decorated table clearly prepared for two. Red roses, crystal glasses, soft background music—everything screamed romance. Kai stared at it blankly, then sat down without a word.
Yuki leaned closer and whispered, "Sir, I’ll sit at a nearby table. If you need anything, just signal me."
Kai gave a small nod, and Yuki quickly slipped away, taking a seat where he could watch discreetly.
Kai glanced at his watch. How long do I have to wait? he thought. Maybe I should review the plan again...
From his table, Yuki kept a careful eye on him, trying not to look too suspicious. But then, his gaze shifted to the entrance—and his eyes widened.
A man walked in.
He wasn’t just handsome—he was stunning. Dressed in an elegant black suit, he carried a bouquet of fresh, expensive-looking flowers. His confident steps, his posture, even the slight smirk on his lips—everything about him screamed charm and confidence.
Yuki nearly choked on his breath. "Whoa... is that the blind date? He’s insanely hot..."
The man made his way directly toward Kai’s table.
He stopped beside him and gently held out the bouquet.
Kai didn’t look up. His eyes remained fixed on the flowers as he coldly said, "Mr., I’m not interested in dating. I’m already in love with someone else, so this meeting is a waste of time. You should go."
But instead of leaving, the man spoke with a deep, familiar voice that made Kai freeze.
"Can you give me one chance?" the man said. "I’m sure... after meeting me, you won’t be able to forget."
Kai’s heart skipped a beat. That voice. It couldn’t be...
He slowly looked up—and his eyes widened in disbelief.
"B-Bast...?" Kai whispered, stunned.
Standing there with the bouquet in his hands, looking more breathtaking than ever, was Sebastian Vaughn.
From the other table, Yuki’s jaw nearly dropped. "Wait... what’s going on? Why is Mr. Kai looking at him like that? He’s not following the plan..."
Bast smiled warmly and said, "How are you, Mr. Kai Haruto? I’m Sebastian Vaughn."
Kai’s breath caught. He stared at the man in disbelief. "B-Bast... what... what are you doing here?"
Bast chuckled softly. "I’m here for my blind date, of course. And you look cuter than I thought "
Kai stood frozen, still trying to process what was happening. His mind raced. How... how is Bast here? How could Dad have arranged this? This has to be a dream...
Before he could form another thought, Bast gently took his hand and pulled him up from the chair. Kai stood automatically, still stunned.
Without a word, Bast wrapped his arms around him and pulled him into a tight embrace.
"I missed you so much," Bast whispered into his ear.
Kai stood motionless, heart pounding in his chest. He couldn’t speak. He couldn’t breathe. He could barely believe the warmth holding him was real.
Bast slowly pulled back, looked into his eyes, and without hesitation, leaned in and kissed him.
Across the restaurant, Yuki’s jaw dropped. His eyes widened as he leaned forward in disbelief. "What the—?! The plan... the plan completely failed... That handsome man impressed sir and now... he kissed him?! How?!"
Back at the table, Kai blinked, breathless from the kiss. "Bast... aren’t you angry at me?"
Bast smiled, brushing his fingers along Kai’s cheek. "Why would I be angry at my baby?"
Kai looked down, guilt rising in his chest. "Because... I hurt you that night."
But Bast gently held Kai’s face in his hands and said softly, "You’re my baby, Kai. I’m not angry. I only ever wanted you to be happy."
Kai’s lips trembled. "But how... how are you here?"
Bast leaned closer, pressing a finger to Kai’s lips. "Shhh... Just enjoy our date. That’s all you need to do."
Kai’s eyes welled with emotion as Bast smiled at him like he always used to—full of love, warmth, and reassurance. And for the first time in months... Kai’s heart slowly started to beat with hope again.
Bast and Kai sat together at the romantic table, enjoying their meal. For the first time in months, Kai looked... different—lighter, softer. A small smile lingered on his lips.
From a nearby table, Yuki quietly observed, stunned. He leaned forward and murmured under his breath, "Wow... that hot guy really hit the spot. He actually made sir smile. He deserves a medal—no, an honor."
At the main table, Bast and Kai sat close, their fingers laced together over the tablecloth.
Kai (softly): "I’m sorry, Bast... for everything. I hurt you."
Bast shook his head gently.
Bast: "Nope, Kai. I know why you did it. Just forget the past. It doesn’t matter anymore."
A soft smile curved Kai’s lips, and Bast traced his fingers along Kai’s cheek with a loving touch.
Bast: "You know I can’t live without you, right?"
Kai’s eyes brimmed with tears as he gripped Bast’s hand tightly. His voice trembled.
Kai: "I’m sorry... I missed you so much..."
The tears slipped down his cheeks. Bast leaned forward and gently wiped them away with his thumb.
Bast (whispering): "Kai, baby... I’m with you now. I promise. I won’t ever leave you again."
Yuki’s eyes widened. He whispered to himself, stunned, "Why is sir crying now? What is this—romantic drama?!"
Before he could blink again, Kai cupped Bast’s face with both hands and leaned in.
Their lips met in a soft, emotional kiss.
Yuki gasped, covering his mouth. "Why do I feel dizzy watching this? What’s happening? Is this still real life?"
He looked around the restaurant, trying to figure out how the plan to ruin a date turned into this—a full-blown love reunion.
But deep inside, even Yuki couldn’t help smiling.
Because his boss, for the first time in months, looked like he was finally coming back to life.
After their romantic meal, Bast and Kai walked out of the restaurant hand in hand. They weren’t saying much—but their eyes never left each other. There was no need for words; their hearts were speaking louder.
As they approached the valet area, Yuki rushed over, slightly out of breath.
Yuki (politely): "Sir, we should go back now."
Kai glanced at him briefly, then turned his gaze back to Bast with a soft smile.
Kai: "Nope, Yuki. You can go back. I’ll go with Bast."
Yuki blinked in surprise, then smiled awkwardly. His eyes shifted between Kai and Bast.
Yuki (bowing to Bast): "Hello..Sir
Yuki hesitated for a moment
Yuki: "I’m Sir Kai’s secretary... Yuki."
"Nice to meet you..."
He glanced at Kai, trying to signal something—maybe to remind him about work, maybe just to say it’s time to go—but the words wouldn’t leave his mouth. Because Kai wasn’t even looking at him.
Kai’s eyes were fixed only on Bast. The man he loved. The man he thought he’d lost forever.
Bast smiled politely and nodded in return.
Bast: "Nice to meet you too."
Yuki (still slightly overwhelmed): "O-okay then... Sir, please call me if you need anything."
Kai: "Don’t worry. You can go."
Yuki gave a small nod, still processing what was happening, and walked toward the car, mumbling to himself, "What just happened today?"
Meanwhile, Bast and Kai slipped into Bast’s sleek black car. As soon as the door closed, Kai leaned into Bast, wrapping his arms around his waist and resting his head on Bast’s shoulder.
Kai (softly): "I missed this warmth..."
Bast smiled, running his fingers gently through Kai’s soft hair as he whispered:
Bast: "I’m here now, baby. And I’m not going anywhere."
Kai closed his eyes, holding Bast tighter. For the first time in a long time... he felt safe.
