Sky-cracking Rider -
Chapter 966 - 966: Section 955 - Fairness?
Inside the cockpit of Flight Simulator No. 93, boarding number 653, with the call sign "Demon King," Lewis sat motionless, as if his very soul had been evaporated by those four blue-white beams just now, leaving him in bewilderment and self-doubt, wondering if something was wrong with the way the flight simulator was opened.
What the heck just happened?
Sitting inside the cabin, disaster came from the sky, and before he could even get a grip on the joystick, he was blasted out of the sky.
He launched an over-the-horizon missile attack right off the bat, but the opponent was even more ruthless, making a direct long-range blind shot, and still hit accurately. This kind of thing is just not scientific, okay!
The combat pilots of The First Sovereign saw the domineering declaration of their young fellow countryman, and collectively rejoiced, clapping their hands and stomping their feet in admiration, even though the arrogant phrase "all come at once" included themselves.
Lose the battle, but not the war, especially since we haven't lost yet. This is how the contemporary Blue Star First Sovereignty should act. If you're not happy with me, come fight me if you have the guts!
This confidence is well-founded. Over fifty years, more than half a century, other sovereignties of Blue Star dare to taunt the First Sovereign, but it only goes as far as verbal sparing, none dare to make a move.
It's not looking down on any single one, but all here are trash!
"Who the hell is this? So arrogant!"
"Screw your mother, come over if you have guts, let's see if I can't beat the crap out of you!"
"Damn civilian, who do you think you are? See this fist of mine, it's bigger than your head, kneel down and apologize now, or you won't leave here alive!"
"Never seen such a shameless guy, cheat! Cheat! Cheat..."
The calm hangar inside and out instantly erupted, as if inciting public wrath, everyone was filled with indignation, with a strong sense of shared hatred.
Putting on a military green uniform, who's not got some spirit, as the saying goes, a scholar meets a soldier, it's hard to reason out. In a soldier's eyes, a fist as big as a saucer is sense, if you disagree, you fight.
The self-detonation case of a snake demon a few days ago didn't achieve this, but with just one sentence from Chen Fei, the whole Barksdale Air Force Base was set ablaze.
More than one person wanted to rush over and teach Chen Xiao'er a lesson, but was held back firmly by those beside them, still kicking frenetically as if they could kick him to death.
"Haha, young people really have good spirit!"
Old David, holding a coffee cup, chuckled as he watched the mess Chen Xiao'er had just stirred up, fresh and exciting, heaven is second, and I'm the first, that's how young people should be.
It was an expected situation, no need to get agitated, a fight is nothing, it's a small scene.
"Take it easy, don't really hurt someone!"
The base commander shook his head, notifying the military police and security forces to maintain order on the scene. He wasn't worried about Chen Fei, he was afraid others would get beaten by Chen Fei.
Most present were active-duty service members; not bullying civilians was already a blessing, much more so if they got beaten, it would be even more humiliating.
The military police and security forces were collectively tense, extremely alert, and began forcibly isolating those particularly agitated individuals.
Sky Knight Mylan didn't intend to do anything to Chen Fei, found a gap, rushed to Chen Fei in two strides, pointed at his nose, and roared furiously, "You're exploiting loopholes, it's not fair at all!"
In Chen Fei's ears, it was just the impotent wail of a sore loser, dare to speak but not acknowledge, what kind of hero is that.
He scratched his slightly itchy ears lightly and said indifferently, "Can't handle it? Then you can choose to concede! Or actual combat works too, my airship is outside! One-on-one, life and death, fight till the end!"
Having fought against even the terrifying Parasitic Species Biological Space Motherships, the firepower output of a Crystal Jet seemed almost unimpressive to him, to be honest.
Mylan: "..."
The other side dared to casually suggest it, but he dared not to casually respond, and even if he did, it was useless, as the Federal Air Force Headquarters would never allow private duels, so all the bravado was on the other's side, while he was merely a sidekick, it was truly infuriating!
Several military policemen stood tensely behind Mylan, ready to pounce and drag him away at the first sign of trouble, lest the two really got into a fight.
"I'll complain to the judges about your cheating behavior!"
Ultimately, Mylan did not lose his cool out of momentary frustration, though he was red-faced and neck thick from anger, he still had no intention to fight.
After all, being a Sky Knight, no matter how outraged, his mental resilience was undeniably sound.
"What a pity!"
Chen Fei looked regretfully at the departing back, having expected a fight, but the other party restrained themselves instead.
If he were in the other's shoes, he would definitely risk detention to punch out his frustration on the spot.
To preserve dignity is the most important thing!
Mylan's attempt to seek justice from the judging panel was doomed to fail, as there is never so much fairness in the world, only compromise and balance.
"...Sorry, within the bounds of fair rules, 'Rookie' has committed no violations!"
The judging panel, including Old David, were surprisingly unanimous in their opinions.
The "rank battle" condition of "entirely realistic simulation of real situations" was proposed by you yourself, wasn't it?
"Rookie" Chen Fei's simulation vehicle inside the flight simulator was exactly how he was in real life, completely compliant with the rules, without any act of cheating.
Mylan insisted on using a Crystal Jet to affront a Combat Spaceship, yet now feels it's unfair, where was this feeling before?
Do you think rules are child's play?
So even if the judging panel were to side with the American Federation's standpoint, in the presence of numerous sovereigns' combat pilots, the judges dared not blatantly show favoritism, as that would indeed incite public fury, those little roles seething with indignation outside, nobody cares about them, what, would they dare to oppose the military?
Not only Mylan, others participating in the "rank battle" ended up eating a nose-full of dust at the judging panel as well.
They had only themselves to blame for Sky Knight Mylan's reckless words, underestimated the commoners? Tough luck!
Such a thing could never happen with The First Sovereign, the people's soldiers are in harmony with the civilians, how could there ever be contempt amongst them.
Just when Mylan rushed to Chen Fei's face to scream and shout, The First Sovereign's combat pilots had already been prepared to cause a scene.
The reason the "rank battle" judging panel didn't show favoritism naturally included apprehensions about these fellows, because The First Sovereign dared truly!
Without the guts to declare war against All Nations, what qualifies one to be The First Sovereign; not firing the first shot is because they can ensure there's no chance for the enemy to fire a second one, a momentary slip of action, and the enemy is no more, no more...
Huh? So seeing it this way, isn't Chen Xiao'er's daring and meddlesome behavior inherited?
Five hours later, the first round of elimination battles concluded.
Of the 1,753 participants in the "rank battle," only half remained, 887 people, some were lucky to skip directly to the next round.
In the second round, Chen Fei, boarding number 748, took less than a minute to eliminate the combat pilot "Wenhao" from Europa Gaul Sovereignty.
Despite the latter learning from Chen Fei's previous opponent's experience, or perhaps a lesson, upon entering the simulated battleground, he immediately locked onto the large Cooperative Ship and unleashed all his offensive capabilities without hesitation, multiple rounds from the railgun, long-distance missiles carrying Element Annihilation Bombs towards the combat sector with an intense over-the-horizon attack.
No wonder he was a professional combatant, identifying the Combat Spaceship's weakness immediately, its massive size meant a large area for targeting, with maneuverability not matching that of small combat flying vehicles, making it easy for an opponent to lock on and difficult to dodge.
Unfortunately, this Gaul pilot underestimated the significance of the Cooperative Ship's firepower role within Chen Fei's custom Airship Battle Group. Like battleships from the age of sail, its sides sprouted rows of railguns, releasing volleys of dense full-metal solid-core bullet barrages, not aiming to hit but to cover, the missiles carrying Element Annihilation Bombs found no escape and collided with the barrage, the annihilation blue glow blossomed in the simulated sky, unable even to touch the airship's protective barrier.
Combat pilot "Wenhao" wasn't a Sky Knight, unable to stack defenses on his vehicle, and was immediately engulfed by four successive particle beam lights along with his simulated vehicle, exploded into a brilliant firework like Chen Fei's first combat opponent, without a second round.
