Sins Of Her Venom
Chapter 59: Did Nothing

Chapter 59: Did Nothing

-Glyndon Walton: ( Song of the Chapter: Pity Party by Melanie Martinez)

I should have known.

The moment Alex had that smirk on his face, I should have known he was up to something.

But I didn’t ask. I didn’t push.

I just let it happen.

And now, as I was being dragged through the crowded hallways of the school, his hand wrapped around my wrist, our friends following behind us with the kind of excitement that only meant trouble, I knew I had made a mistake.

A big one.

"She’s gonna lose her mind," Paige was laughing breathlessly as she kept pace beside us, her eyes gleaming with anticipation.

Jake snorted. "I just hope she doesn’t kill someone for it.

I didn’t say anything.

I couldn’t.

Because my stomach was twisting—hard and fast—like I had swallowed something rotten.

We reached the main hallway just as the first wave of laughter erupted.

It was instant. Loud. Ugly.

Students gathered around, pointing, whispering, howling with amusement. Phones were already out, capturing every second of it, because, of course, they were.

I swallowed hard.

Kathrine stood in the center of the chaos, right in front of her open locker.

Her back was rigid. Her fingers were curled into tight fists at her sides. Her jaw was clenched so hard I could see the tension in it from where I stood.

And scattered all over the floor...

There were dozens of rubber dildos.

Pink, red, black, blue.

Some small. Some are obscenely large.

Some still rolling from where they had spilled out, hitting the shoes of students who immediately kicked them away, laughing even harder.

"Oh my God—" one girl shrieked between giggles. "Who the fuck did this?!"

"Bro, she’s stocked up," another guy cackled. "What, planning to open a sex shop or something?"

"Or maybe she just really needs them," someone else added, voice dripping with mockery.

"Guess she doesn’t have enough girls lining up, huh?"

A fresh wave of laughter rolled through the crowd.

My nails dug into my palm.

Alex stood beside me, his lips twitching like he was trying not to burst out laughing himself. His eyes were practically glowing with satisfaction.

"What the fuck, Alex?" I hissed under my breath.

He smirked. "Relax, babe. It’s just a joke."

Just a joke.

My stomach twisted again.

Kathrine still hadn’t moved.

She just stood there, fists clenched, shoulders tense, as the laughter swirled around her.

Then—

She exhaled.

Slowly. Controlled.

And when she finally turned, her gaze cut through the hallway like a blade.

The laughter stuttered.

Not much—but enough.

Enough to tell me that people knew.

They knew what she was capable of.

They knew what it meant when she didn’t react.

Because Kathrine didn’t lash out.

She didn’t scream, curse, or demand to know who did it.

She just... stared.

Cold. Unreadable.

And then—

She crouched down.

Calmly.

Casually picked up one of the rubber dildos, rolling it between her fingers like it was nothing more than a pen she had dropped.

People whispered.

I held my breath.

Then she stood, eyes sweeping over the crowd before they landed on me.

A long, slow look.

My throat went dry.

Then she glanced at Alex whose smile faded when she talked " If you wanted me to peg you that bad, all you had to do was ask, Alex." Then she tossed one of the dildos to me and said " I’ll send you a tutorial, guys like it when their girlfriends to fuck their little asshole. There is a reason why their prostate is in there."

She turned.

And walked away.

Like nothing had happened.

Like she was the one who had just won.

I exhaled, only now realizing I had been holding my breath.

Jake let out a low whistle. "Damn."

Paige nudged Alex. "Well, that was anticlimactic."

Alex scoffed, but I could tell—he was irritated too.

He had expected more.

Expected rage.

Expected her to snap, to lash out, to react.

But instead... she walked away.

And for some reason—

That felt like a loss.

For all of us.

Alex was pissed.

I could see it in the way his jaw tightened, the way his eyes narrowed as he watched Kathrine walk away like nothing had happened.

"She thinks she’s fucking untouchable," he muttered under his breath.

"Yeah, dude, that was kinda lame," Jake added. "I thought she’d at least throw a fit."

"She’s mocking us," Paige scoffed. "Like she’s better than us or something."

Alex’s fingers twitched at his sides, his anger simmering, looking for an outlet.

Then his lips curled into a smirk.

A dangerous one.

"She wants to act like she’s above this?" His voice was low, almost gleeful now. "Fine. Let’s see how untouchable she is when the whole school is laughing at her."

I frowned. "What are you—"

But he was already moving.

Already pulling a black marker from his bag.

Already heading straight for our next class.

I followed a sick feeling settling in my stomach.

I knew what he was going to do before he even did it.

And I did nothing to stop him.

By the time Kathrine walked into the classroom, the damage was already done.

The words were everywhere.

Scrawled across her desk, bold and unmissable:

DYKE.

PUSSY-EATING FREAK.

DISGUSTING LESBO.

BURN IN HELL.

And beneath it all—

A crude drawing of her on her knees in front of a girl, exaggerated and obscene.

Laughter rippled through the room.

Some students pretended to hide their smiles behind their hands. Others weren’t even subtle, whispering to their friends, nudging each other, their grins wide and cruel.

Alex was leaning back in his chair, arms crossed, looking pleased.

Like he had won.

Like this was the revenge he deserved.

I couldn’t move.

My breath felt trapped in my throat as I watched Kathrine freeze in the doorway.

She saw.

Her eyes flickered over the desk, taking in every single word, every single insult.

The laughter got louder.

Her jaw tightened.

Then—

She looked at me.

I felt it like a slap.

Her gaze was cold and sharp—so much fury in her eyes that it sent a shiver down my spine.

But beneath the fury, beneath the ice, there was something else.

Something that made my chest ache.

Like I had betrayed her.

I wanted to say something.

I wanted to do something.

But I just stood there.

Frozen.

Helpless.

Cowardly.

Then—

Kathrine exhaled.

Slow. Measured.

And she walked.

Calmly.

Unbothered.

Like none of this mattered.

She pulled out her chair and sat down at that desk—at her desk—her fingers curling around the edges like she was anchoring herself.

Then she took out her notebook and ignored it.

Ignored all of it.

As if the words weren’t even there.

The laughter stuttered.

Because it wasn’t fun if she didn’t react.

It wasn’t satisfying if she didn’t break.

And that was when I felt it.

A sharp, horrible pain in my chest.

Because I realized—

She was used to this.

She was used to being humiliated.

Used to being mocked, used to being hated.

And I was part of the reason why.

I blinked rapidly, my vision blurring.

Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes, but I forced them back.

Because I didn’t deserve to cry.

Not when she was the one suffering.

The cafeteria was packed.

Loud voices, laughter, the clatter of trays against tables—it was chaos, like always.

Alex was in a good mood.

Smug. Gloating.

Like the morning’s stunt had been the highlight of his entire week.

I wasn’t hungry.

Not when I knew what was coming next.

Because Alex wasn’t done.

Kathrine walked in late like she always did.

Like she didn’t want to be here.

She grabbed her tray and made her way to the farthest table in the room.

Alone.

Like always.

And I hated it.

I hated that it was normal.

She just expected it at this point.

I didn’t know why I expected anything different today.

Why did I let myself hope that maybe Alex would stop?

Maybe he’d feel like he’d done enough.

But I should have known better.

Because the second he saw her sit down, his smirk sharpened.

He stood, grabbing his soda, and the rest of the group followed.

I followed too.

I didn’t want to.

I shouldn’t have.

But I did.

We stopped at her table.

Kathrine didn’t even look up.

She just kept eating like she didn’t see us.

Like she hadn’t noticed the entire cafeteria going silent, everyone watching, waiting.

"Hey, Andrews," Alex drawled. "Enjoying your meal?"

She ignored him.

Didn’t even flinch.

That pissed him off.

His smirk dropped, and his grip on his soda tightened.

"I asked you a question."

Kathrine finally looked up.

And smiled.

Not a real one.

A mocking one.

Like she wasn’t afraid of him.

Like she wasn’t afraid of any of them.

And I knew—I just knew—she’d made a mistake.

Because Alex didn’t like being mocked.

Before I could even process what was happening—

He grabbed her tray.

Lifted it.

And dumped it.

Her food splattered onto the ground, onto her shoes.

Gasps echoed through the cafeteria.

Some laughs.

And then—

Then he poured his soda over her.

Dark liquid soaked through her hoodie, dripping down her hair, and her face.

The cafeteria erupted.

Laughter.

Chatter.

Whispers.

And Kathrine?

She just sat there.

For one horrible second, I thought she was going to cry.

I thought—

But no.

Her jaw just tightened.

Her hands clenched into fists.

And then—

She stood.

Slowly.

She didn’t wipe her face.

Didn’t try to clean herself up.

She just walked.

Through the cafeteria.

Through the laughter.

Through the whispers.

And out the doors.

Gone.

Like she couldn’t get out of here fast enough.

And I—

I just stood there.

My chest was tight.

My hands were shaking.

Because I should have done something.

I should have stopped it.

But I didn’t.

And the worst part?

When she had looked at me before leaving—

It wasn’t just anger in her eyes.

It was disgust.

Like I was worse than all of them.

Because I knew better.

And I still did nothing.
