Chapter 72: Chapter 72

As the lunch concluded, Drago and Luan kept bickering back and forth about the upcoming marriage meetings. Their goals were completely different, and with each passing minute, Drago seemed to become more irritated about Luan’s laid-back attitude.

"If you dare do anything that will bring shame to this household, you will be severely punished, Luan!" Drago snapped.

"Alright, old man. I’ll be going now. I need to prepare, you know," Luan spat back as he stood up and left the dining room.

Drago sighed, rubbing his temples. Hana, on the other hand, sat quietly watching the whole altercation with a neutral expression on her face.

"Why didn’t you say anything?" Drago inquired while looking at Hana.

"He’s an adult now; he can take care of himself, and as long as he doesn’t insult the imperial family, even if the marriage won’t happen, isn’t it fine?" Hana nonchalantly said.

When Drago heard her words, something dawned on him. "My bad, I forgot you aren’t from the empire. I let myself go a little," he awkwardly said, scratching his cheek.

Kael and Selis were quietly watching everything, nodding along.

"It’s fine, sweetie. And I’m sure Luan has a plan or at least an idea; just trust your son. He’s rather capable, after all," Hana said, with a motherly smile.

Then Thomas quietly entered the room. "I have returned, my lord; I have noted everything down in this document," he announced proudly with a deep bow.

"Who told you to do that? And where did you even go?" Drago asked, confusion evident on his face.

"I sent him to Luan because he asked for it," Hana said. "And I asked him to document everything Luan did over there."

When Kael and Selis heard this, they were outraged, but they kept quiet. Hana wasn’t just the first wife but also the one who controlled all the finances of the duke.

Drago noticed the change in expression of the duo but acted like he hadn’t seen it. "Hana, please don’t go too far," he whispered under his breath.

But Hana acted like she hadn’t heard it. "Thank you, Thomas; place the document on his desk," she ordered him.

"As you wish, madam." With that, he turned around and was about to exit the dining room.

"Oh, and one more thing, how would you rate his time over there?" She curiously asked, even though they had exchanged letters during the whole time, she still wanted to hear it come out of his mouth.

Thomas thought for a moment and then, with a serious look on his face, "I would rate it a seven or eight out of ten. He knew what he wanted and worked tirelessly toward that single goal. With some ups and downs along the way, of course, but the result was very satisfactory."

Hana had a smile on her face when she heard that and glanced at Drago, who had a thoughtful expression on his face.

"Thank you, you can go now," she said, waving him goodbye.

"Yes, madam." With that, Thomas left the room and made his way toward Drago’s office to place the document on his desk.

"Make sure to read the document carefully," Hana said as she also left the dining room.

Only leaving Drago, Selis, and Kael behind, Drago sighed. "She really is a formidable woman," he muttered.

When Selis heard that her eye twitched violently, she asked, "Honey, are you okay? That little bastard is way too cocky!" she said, hugging Drago from behind.

"Watch your tone, Selis. But you are right, he is rather willful, just like his mother," he whispered into Selis’s ear.

Selis then glared at Kael, mouthing for him to get out.

Kael took that as his cue to quickly excuse himself and also left the dining room. Wandering through the castle, he was deep in thought.

’At least I’m already the official successor; otherwise, I might have actually had to kill him.’ He thought as a cold glint flashed through his eyes.

But still he needed to get Luan out of the house as fast as possible; the sooner, the better. It would be fine if he married the third imperial princess because that would mean he would get his own territory and title.

But if that fell through, he had to come up with a plan, and fast. Realizing that, he rushed toward his room. And after entering it, he called his most trusted subordinates.

And started brainstorming ideas to get Luan out of the house.

Luan was lazily lying in the garden with the purple and yellow egg sitting beside him. All his servants were somewhere around, guarding him, while others were playing cards or preparing some tea or refreshments.

Then Hana arrived, and she nodded at all the servants and went right past them. "What is that egg?"

Luan slowly opened his eyes, and then he saw his mother standing right in front of him. He flinched before calming himself down.

"It’s one of my spirits; it ate something on the way back, and now it’s like this," Luan said, shrugging.

"Wow, you must’ve gotten really lucky for it to evolve already, and you even found a light element object," Hana said, taking a seat next to her son.

Kian then came with two cups of tea. "This is special tea we procured in the Xandrian Freeholds," he politely said, handing Luan and Hana a cup each.

Hana nodded with a smile while Luan rolled his eyes. "How do you know the element is light? It looked more like a sun," he inquired.

"You might not know this, but my sigil is related to knowledge, so when I say something, you can be sure it’s correct. And there is no such thing as sun spirits; there are basic and special spirits. And special spirits can evolve," Hana carefully explained with a smile on her face.

Luan listened attentively, making sure not to miss anything. He had tried to find out this info by himself, but the information that was available was very limited.

"So it’s evolving right now? And after will be a hybrid spirit?"

Hana nodded, "That’s correct. But you were really lucky. Light spirits are some of the rarest and hardest to find."
