Sigil Online: I became the duke's third son -
Chapter 45
Chapter 45: Chapter 45
Luan looked at Thomas with a smirk. "So what do you advise I do instead?" he asked.
Not expecting that answer, Thomas stood there, looking around to quickly come up with an idea.
While Kian held the older woman and threw her out the door, the other people around the table all had different thoughts.
Some were already regretting signing the contract even though it wasn’t the best contract, just working under the young master, who was the son of the duke, and his first wife was a pro.
Others looked at Luan with respect; he’s so young but already so decisive. They nodded, agreeing with Luan’s approach; he had given them the option to refuse and just walk out. What did she expect to get, special treatment?
That is just straight-up delusional. Who does she think she is? She is neither beautiful nor does she have a sigil. Why would Luan waste precious resources to recruit her? She needs to know her place.
The reactions were mixed, some agreeing with Luan’s approach while others were fearful. The people who also hadn’t signed the contract glanced at each other, unsure what to do now.
It was clear Luan didn’t tolerate talking back, but he never said anything about needing to sign, so could they just walk out?
Thomas, who was stumbling over his words nervously, saw a muscular man with short gray hair stand up; seeing how he hadn’t signed the contract, he heaved a sigh of relief and quickly sat back down.
Luan turned his gaze from Thomas toward the man. "What do you want?" he asked, rolling his eyes.
The man nervously gulped, then picked up the contact from the table. "Is this the only contract you’re offering? And if I refuse, what then?" he asked.
"Hmm, for now that’s the only one, yeah. If you were to refuse, you could just leave the room; no need to make a fuss like that." With a look dull of disdain, Luan leaned back in his chair, clasping his hands together.
"Oh, and hurry up with your decision; I don’t have all day," he stated.
The man quickly sat back down, as he felt the suffocating aura disappear; he looked at the contract, then at Luan, who was just sitting there petting a bird and another creature.
"What?" he blurted out, and everyone’s attention was now aimed at him.
While Luan just grinned devilishly, patting Lumi and Vira on the head.
"Oh, I’m sorry." The man said, quickly signing the contract under the pressure; after seeing the man sign, some of the other people who hadn’t signed as well also signed.
Luan pointed his finger at Kian, and without needing to say a word, Kian clapped his hands together. "Time is up; anyone who hasn’t signed, please vacate the room," he said, opening the door.
Three men stood up and left the room, not even trying to convince Luan to give them some more time; they had seen what Luan could and would.
After closing the door, he made his way around the table collecting all the contracts and put them in front of Luan.
"Good, welcome aboard," he said, correcting his posture, and then he pointed toward Vira and Lumi.
"These are spirits; they’re not hostile, so don’t worry about them." He said, then all the girls took the suitcases full of blueprints and prototypes and placed them all on the table.
"Now let us start the first meeting." Luan announced, smirking.
Thomas and the rest immediately felt overwhelmed; Luan had prepared this much? No wonder he took such precautions, even using the imperial contract master.
The rest of the meeting was a blur of rapid exchanges. Luan outlined his plans with startling clarity, presenting the blueprints and prototypes to the group. Every person around the table had their role now; some needed to acquire slaves. Others were in charge of finding craftsmen; Luan assigned everyone a role based on their competencies or previous experience.
Some, who had initially doubted Luan’s decisions, now found themselves quietly impressed by his poise and ability to handle pressure. There was no time wasted, no second-guessing. Luan knew what he wanted, and he was not afraid to demand it. His casual dominance was palpable; he didn’t need to raise his voice; his presence alone commanded attention.
Thomas, who had started off nervous and in disagreement with Luan’s methods. Now he seemed more comfortable, if still wary of Luan’s sharp focus. He was impressed by how driven Luan was, even if only to make a lot of money to live a lavish life.
Looking around, Thomas saw that everyone else also had a surprised expression on their faces when Luan mentioned why he was starting this business. But this revelation also seemed to ease away some of their nervousness, almost humanizing Luan.
The meeting was wrapping up swiftly. Luan, standing with an air of satisfaction, glanced at his spirits, Lumi and Vira, who were floating around the room, making the normally boring meeting more lively. Luan addressed the group once more.
"Good. Now, let’s get to work." His voice was decisive, with no trace of hesitation. The atmosphere had shifted entirely. They were no longer just participants in a meeting; they were now part of something much bigger, something that Luan controlled.
With that, Kian moved to dismiss the group, and the remaining few quickly gathered their belongings, eager to leave and return to their tasks. The fear of being left behind had already taken root. Luan had shown them exactly what he was capable of, and no one wanted to be on the wrong side of that.
As the room cleared, Luan allowed himself a brief smile. Everything was moving according to plan. The next phase of his operation was now underway, and he was prepared to take it to the next level.
Looking at the girls who were cleaning everything up, Luan took a seat on the sofa stationed not far from the table.
"Good job, you all." He said, giving his personal servants a satisfied nod.
