Chapter 1526 1526: Weakening seal (1)

"What's not here?" The others asked in a confused voice since they had no idea what I was talking about.

I didn't answer right away as I looked at Joan to say, "Use your flames and clear out this place. I want to see if I can find it hidden anywhere."

Joan didn't question my orders as she started releasing the divine energy flames.

With her releasing these flames and Ariel joining in with the mist, we were able to clear out the corruption energy that was in this area. But even then, I wasn't able to find what I was looking for.

I made sure to look carefully at the walls that were around us because I could tell that they were in some kind of structure.

It was just like the other ruins where these rooms led to a place where the key to obtaining the Relic of Destruction was.

But it seemed that there was something that had destroyed these rooms.

These rooms hadn't been completely destroyed, it was just as if there was something that had corroded the walls between the rooms. It was as if there was something that had eaten its way to the end.

Following the clues, I eventually reached the place that I was looking for.

The problem was that there wasn't anything left for me to discover.

Whatever it was that had eaten its way to the end had already found what was hidden here and taken it for themselves.

With the way that the walls had been eaten, it really seemed like it was related to the corruption energy.

Which meant that it was most likely the source of the corruption energy that had destroyed this place and made it all the way to where the key was. That meant that the source of the corruption energy should have already obtained the means to reach the Relic of Destruction.

The moment that this thought passed through my mind, I couldn't help cursing out loud.

"Holy Son, what's wrong? Did you find something?"

As soon as they asked me this, I said, "We don't have time to waste. They're closing in on the Relic of Destruction and it's likely that they've already reached it. We need to hurry or they'll take it away."

The others were surprised to hear this and they were a bit confused why I would say something like this all of a sudden, but I didn't bother explaining it to them since there really was no time.

I focused on the pulling sensation coming from inside of me and I let it lead me deeper into the ruins.

At this point, there really was no time to think about whether it was dangerous or not. Even if it was a trap, there wasn't anything that could be done since the most important thing was recovering the Relic of Destruction.

If they were to take the Relic of Destruction, then it would be a disaster.

So I quickly followed that feeling until I reached the place where it was coming from.

But before I could actually reach it, there were sounds that came from all around us.

"Ke, ke, ke…"

This was a familiar sound since we had heard it before and the moment that we heard it, all of us raised our guards since this sound was coming from all around us. It sounded as if we were completely surrounded by whatever was making this sound.

With the fireballs, I could see that we were indeed surrounded.

It was just that these things weren't attacking us yet.

These were the same strange creatures as before, but it seemed like there was something that was holding them to the walls and even the ceiling. The thing that was wrapped around them seemed to be a layer of film or some kind of skin.

Looking closely, it seemed like some kind of embryo that was protecting the strange creatures.

Was this how they were created?

Were they bred with corruption energy like this?

If that was the case, then it would be dangerous if we were to allow these strange creatures to hatch. If we let them increase their population, then there was no doubt that they would attack us later.

It was best if we took care of these right away…

But there was the fact that the Relic of Destruction's seal was getting weaker and it might even be taken away soon…

"No, this is too dangerous to leave alone. Attack them."

As soon as I said this, there were attacks that were released in all directions at the strange creatures in the embryos. There was no resistance at all since they were completely stuck inside of those embryos.

It was almost like a pig to the slaughter with how easily they were purified with the divine energy and holy magic.

However, it wasn't as if we had enough attacks to take down all of them.

That meant that there were still some that were left even after our first wave of attacks. And it seemed like they had been disturbed by the attacks as they started to move as if they were about to wake up.

"Attack as fast as you can!" I shouted while raising the Staff of Earth to point at these embryos.

I sent out as many attacks as I could at these embryos, but there just wasn't enough firepower to deal with all of them before one of them suddenly broke apart.

When that embryo broke apart, the strange creature that was inside suddenly fell down to the ground. It took a while for it to grasp its surroundings before it looked up at us and gave a screech as if it was about to attack.

Only before it could, it was hit with a divine energy attack and was purified.

The problem was that this wasn't the only strange creature that hatched.

It didn't take long before we were surrounded by them and all of them seemed like they were ready to attack.
